2 out of 5 eggsGreat... BUT

Pros: Excellent picture. Everything looks amazing. Best monitor I've owned or used regarding picture. Bright and Vivid.

Cons: The adjustment buttons are touch sensitive and thus are hard to find at night (especially next to the incredibly bright screen). After about 6 months the image began to shake on startup and for the 5 minutes afterwards. This problem got worse and now I have to wait 30 minutes after turning the computer on before using the monitor. Distortion and lines shoot across the image but after the monitor has "warmed up" it all goes away and is as good as new.

Other Thoughts: Getting another monitor, this time an ASUS 24inch.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: I've had this monitor for about 5 months now and I've been quite pleased with it. It has a fantastic picture, excellent color balance and contrast ratio. Its picture rotation function is quite a nice feature epically when working with portrait document layouts.

Cons: As stated in earlier reviews the monitor settings are controlled by touch sensitive buttons, which in its self isn't so bad, but its difficult to see which button does what. Good thing is, once the monitor is adjusted to your preferences you don't need to frequently access them.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Primary or Secondary Display

Pros: Bright, crisp display. High (extreme!?) contrast and fairly sharp. Height adjustment and USB hub.

Cons: Slight bluish color-cast I can't seem to adjust away... yet.

Other Thoughts: Works fine w/ '09 Mac Pro default vid card. Using as 2nd display w/ DisplayPort-to-DVI cable. Looks contrasty compared to my primary 24" display, may retire that one for the larger version of this Samsung. Overall very happy, would give it a 4.5+ if that was a rating option. As usual a 5 for NewEgg pricing/shipping/speed!

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT MONITOR!

Pros: NO DEAD PIXELS, VERY BRIGHT SCREEN. COLORS LOOK GREAT WITH SOLID BLACKS & THE SCREEN DOES NOT HAVE ANY BLEEDING EDGES. ADJUSTED COLORS USING THE NVIDIA PANEL & WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS. I AM AN ACCOUNTANT & THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT & THE ABILITY TO EASILY SWIVEL THE MONITOR IS A GREAT FEATURE. TEXT IS CLEARER THAN MY FIVE STAR RATED SAMSUNG 930B THAT I REPLACED. I ALSO PLAY COD4 & THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO GHOSTING IN FAST MOVING TARGETS. THE 20 INCH SCREEN IS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR AS IT DOES NOT OVERWHELM MY DESK. THE GLOSSY BLACK FINISH IS REALLY GOOD LOOKING TOO.

Cons: NONE WHATSOEVER!

Other Thoughts: I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH FOR 20" MONITORS & I'M COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH MY CHOICE.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - nice picture
- nice stand
- reasonably priced

Cons: - ~15% failure rate after 1 year. I have deployed ~80 of these at my site and seen 12 of them fail so far, all with the same problem: an intermittent flickering on/off of the screen. I have not RMAd these yet and have heard nothing bad about Samsung's customer support, but the failure rate is a bit high.

- touch-buttons are annoying

Other Thoughts: These were our monitor of choice for workstations being given to software developers, because being able to display a full page of code next to a debugger window or documentation without having everything squashed together was very appealing.

Other than the failures, we've had no complaints at all about the picture or anything else in that department.

At home, I use the previous model, the 204BW, to play video games in addition to technical work and have never had any complaints.

I'm sad about the flicker-failures, but otherwise recommend this monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good, but a little pricy

Pros: * Very adjustable stand
* Convenient USB
* Overall, acceptable picture (colors, contrast, etc.)

Cons: * Touch controls are annoying
* The Blue power LED is annoying in the blinking stand-by state

Other Thoughts: Unless you're doing serious graphics work that requires excellent color production, this monitor is great. The blacks aren't quit dark enough to make it great for movies either--but it's a 20 inch monitor and movies aren't one of its main purposes. If you can get it 250.00 or better, it's definitely worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsNice monitor

Pros: Nice monitor, but the HP lcd monitors I purchased at the same time were better as far as picture quality. No dead pixels.

Cons: Image shows some darkening near the top.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mid-range monitor

Pros: This is a great monitor. It is aesthetically very pleasing, although the mirror finish will get dirty easily. The picture is, on the whole, good. The text is sharp and the resolution is perfect. The color are acceptable. It is good controls and a low key power LED. Also, stand is excellent--all the adjustments are perfect and the USB ports are convenient, but out of the way.

Cons: There are a few cons. But these are to be expected from a monitor in this price range, so they're not really cons. The blacks are not terribly dark and the backlight on the screen really weakens the black at the edges--although there is minimal to no bleedthrough to the bezel. The color could be better--don't get a TN display if you're looking for extremely accurate color production. Therefore, the monitor is not ideal for movies (but it a 20 inch, come on) or for serious photoshop work (but it's under $300). Touch controls are a little finicky, but you won't use them that much. Also, the auto "magic bright" and "magic color" is nothing to write home about.

Other Thoughts: There is a wire management clip for the back of the stand. Other reviews that complain about wire management missed this.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value--Excellent Display

Pros: Nice looking black with glossy base and bezel; thin bezel; 8000:1 contrast; bright crisp clear picture; purchased 3 of these and nary a dead pixel amongst the group; great swivel and tilt functionality...very easy to manipulate

Cons: The buttons could be a little easier to find but once you get used to it, it's hardly a deal breaker. In some ways it's nice because they don't obstruct the view in any way.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: big screen, nice picture, not too expensive. Pivot is cool.

Cons: buttons are terrible. Often will not work at all so I sometimes have to pull the plug in order to turn it off. monitor menu is very hard to use and seems incomplete.

Other Thoughts: It seems like samsung put very little thought into human interaction with this screen.
