2 out of 5 eggspower problem

Pros: Great display good picture

Cons: Known power supply problem. At 14 months my display would show windows booting up but by the time the logon screens shows up monitor dies. The Samsung site actually has a decision tree describing this problem. At the end it states have monitor repaired.

5 out of 5 eggsbig and bright

Pros: Bright big screen, easy to set up, and easy cord management. I don't have it wall mounted but I'm glad to know it is compliant with standard wall mount equipment. I don't use the HD, but I'm glad to know it's HD compliant.

Cons: MagicBright pre-settings -- I wish I could custom configure, have not figured out how to do that yet. None of the settings are perfect, so I'm always on one setting - the custom setting.

Other Thoughts: The bleedthrough around the edge is definitely there. This means that when there's a black screen, such as when a movie first starts up, you can clearly see a glow on screen around the edge

2 out of 5 eggsMore black friday woes

Pros: Very beautiful display with a clean design. Was perfect while it was working.

Cons: I, as the previous two posters, have lost this monitor due to the backlight going dead. I bought mine on Black Friday 2007, and just yesterday I got home from work, sat down at my computer and after roughly 10 minutes of usage the screen suddenly fell in brightness and then just went black. The power light was still on, so I was pretty confused at first. Eventually, I realized that the image could still be seen very, very faintly, and that the monitor hadn't died per say, just that it wasn't powering the backlight. I could shut it off and turn it back on and the image would appear for a second before shutting off again. From the sounds of it, it's either the backlight's power supply or some electrical component malfunction due to shoddy soldering on Samsung's part. It may be possible to re-solder the component, but I couldn't find any reasonable way to get the monitor open and it's probably not worth the hassle.

Other Thoughts: I was disappointed that this happened so close to a year after purchasing it; I figured I just had some bad luck and then I logged onto newegg to see about buying a replacement, only to find that the same thing has apparently been happening to others. I wish I could recommend this monitor, because it was great when it worked, but I think I'll stay away from purchasing another.

2 out of 5 eggsThe Curse of Black Friday 2007?

Pros: Great monitor when switching from the classic CRTs.

Cons: Its dead. But before that my only qualms were 1 dead pixel, which wasn't terrible. And the bleeding of light on the top and bottom edges, but I think thats pretty common.

Other Thoughts: I'm writing this review because my monitor just died (plugged in an older one) and I felt compelled to check newegg reviews on it. My situation is exactly the same as the one described in the review right before mine. It was just a few days shy of surviving a year. The screen went black but the power LED was still on. A burning smell soon followed.

1 out of 5 eggs1 year

Pros: worked great for almost exactly 1 year, I purchased two of these when they were on sale last christmas.

Cons: About two weeks ago one of them started smoking an the blue light would stay on but no picture turned it off an back on picture lasted 5 or 6 seconds then went black again. then the other went out late last night started smoking and did the same thing as the first.

Other Thoughts: Ill prolly try to send them off to samsung but i definitley will not buy this model again.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: Bought a pair of these on black Friday 2007 at a Local store, It made waking up that early worth it. Used them to run duelview on an old 7 series Nvidia with 1 dvi/1svga and it ran very smooth, only exception was running Movie on one screen and playing games on the other. Built a new rig with a Gx2 and even though it's been a year I'm still very pleased. If your speakers fail it does have internals which are better than nothing while at the same time remind you that you need new speakers.

Cons: Lesser screens I have owned came with a sturdier base that allowed for a lot more articulation of the angle, while this one is limited allowing from a right angle at 90 and leaning back to 70-65 degrees.

Other Thoughts: As another poster noted it is HDCP though it doesn't say so on the box. Found that out today as I was planning to get one black Friday of this year. Surprised that the price hasn't dropped

5 out of 5 eggs22" of great color

Pros: Got this at one of the national brick & mortars and every time I'm at the computer, I wish I'd have the cash to get another one of these bad boys. The colors are bright and images are very sharp. No dead pixels, no pixelation. AVI, mpeg and other video are all crisp. My friend got a 46" Samsung tv, with the 120hz refresh rate, and the video on that is equally stunning.

Cons: DVI cable that came with the monitor isn't compatible with DVI on my video card, so monitor is running through SVGA port.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried the built in speakers, but they are there if you're in a bind and need them. Don't expect to blast subfm through them though, or you'll burn them out within minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Display

Pros: Very bright and very sharp. Display has very good color definition and looks great with all my games. It is easy to get this display to look good if you know what you are doing. Like most displays I've owned I had to make some adjustments in my graphics control panel to get things looking right...but hey that's why it's there.

Cons: Speakers are junk but that is to be expected. Built-in scaling would have been nice to see but again that's where the graphics controls do wonders. Got it from the blue shirts a few months back for 219 with no rebate and have been unable to find another one that cheap since.

Other Thoughts: Just a note to some of the other reviews for this product. The backlight bleed on an item like this is pretty normal unless we are taking about something like a $1000 LED-lit model. Additionally I noticed that some people were reporting bad color and difficulty in calibrating. These are adjustments best made with your graphics card software. Please only post high tech level if know do in fact know what you are talking about.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: Bright, sharp, vivid display with no dead pixels. Puts out substantially less heat than my sister's Samsung 24" LCD but uses the same "optimal" resolution of 1680x1050, and the slightly smaller size is hardly noticeable.

Cons: None so far. (except that I'm a tightwad with money and am fighting off the urge to buy a 2nd one to run dual-head)

Other Thoughts: This replaced my trusty 17" CRT. While my CRT is still crystal clear, going from 1024x768 to this 22" widescreen was, in a word..... WOW. I'm almost never impressed enough over a product to bother with writing a review, but this monitor was an exception. Took a little tweaking of the brightness, contrast and color balance to make it look great, but it's definitely worth the effort.
