1 out of 5 eggsnot impressed

Pros: Good screen quality. Rotating base

Cons: Didnt last at all. Afer a year had to replace a bad capacitor. Then 2 years later the rectifier went and I didnt bother trying to fix it. Overpriced garbage.

1 out of 5 eggsScreen Cuts out, Makes clicks and Beeps

Pros: It was great while it lasted. Worked perfect for over 3 years

Cons: Bought 2 of these screens back in march 2008. About 3 months ago this screen started having issues with the screen cutting out. And this is now out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: It would go black, then start making some clicking sounds, and a pop and would come back on. Seems to have a short somewhere. From what I have read online not just this Model, but all Samsung models of LCD screens and TVs have this issue. People online say it needs the capacitors on the power supply replaced. The parts kit costs $20. But then some people report that doesn't solve the problem. I am going to call Samsung to see what they say. If they are not any help I will never buy a samsung TV or LCD again.

3 out of 5 eggsFaulty power supply? Beware!

Pros: Nice picture, stand, and the HDMI and audio ports are a major plus.

Cons: After about three years (coincidence?) the monitor began to take longer and longer to show a picture. Eventually nothing but a black screen. Research suggested Samsung used a sub par power chipset. Had it repaired, and sure enough boots up better than ever, only now I've got ink streaks all over the screen.

Other Thoughts: I like Samsung. Looking around I realize I have a lot of Samsung products. I used to have the same brand loyalty to AMD. I built systems composed primarily of AMD components. After a number of failures and poor customer service, I switched to Intel and haven't looked back. Perhaps it is time for another change...

3 out of 5 eggsStarted to die after warranty period ended

Pros: Fantastic price/performance ratio.
Very bright and crisp.

Cons: We purchased five of these displays and two have died. One right before the warranty expired, and one right after.

The same symptoms: The display started to "blank" once in a while, and then it happens more and more frequently, until it is completely dead. Apparently common with Samsung and cheap capacitors. Shame.

Other Thoughts: After I got my display back after warranty exchange the brightness was incredible. So it seems like these things also fade after a period of time.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Gorgeous screen, great price.

Cons: 1 dead pixel, but it's not noticeable on all background colors.

Other Thoughts: Others have commented on the difficulty of finding the power button. I've found myself to be pretty proficient at starting a finger on the far right edge, and sliding left until the light comes on. Once it's on, it's easy enough to see the rest of the buttons for other purposes.

5 out of 5 eggsA great buy

Pros: No Dead Pixels
Easy Setup - Stand was already setup/attached in the packaging.
Fantastic image quality
Wonderful Stand

Cons: No USB ports
UPS beat-up my box
No Cable Management

Other Thoughts: My shipment was a little beat-up. This is UPS fault and I'm sure Fed-ex isn't much better. Fortunately the item was packed well and didn't suffer any damage.

5 out of 5 eggsAs advertised

Pros: This monitor is everything they said it would be. I changed monitors because I needed one that was HDCP compatible for Blueray movies. No dead pixels. The hidden buttons don't bother me in the least, as I don't change setting very often, and when I do, I can see them OK. The picture quality with a Blueray movie is impressive.

Cons: Really don't have any.

Other Thoughts: I think for the price, this is an excellent buy. It does all I need a monitor to do for a decent price.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid performance, great design

Pros: I've had this monitor for a few months, and now I can't imagine living without it! I use it for work - hooked up to a modest laptop via VGA pushing 1920X1200, and it looks great! I also use it via HDMI for my Xbox 360, and it's fantastic on my Halo 3 comp playing, and COD4.

The height adjustment and tilt/swivel is a really solid design. I recommend raising the monitor so the center of the panel is eye level. For me, it's raised to the highest setting.

The brightness/contrast is solid, with tons of settings to tweak. I would highly recommend the "Intelligent" magicbright setting.

Speakers are typical for a monitor, great for referencing what the HDMI is doing. I usually turn it down, and use an amp from my Xbox and laptop.

Glossy black finish on the case is tough to keep clean, but looks great when it is clean. The screen itself is matte and is easy to maintain - doesn't pick up a lot of fingerprints or dust.

Cons: Some white edge on the HDMI input, needs adjusting maybe?

The touch sensitive buttons are aweful - why would Samsung do this? I'm sure a modest test group would provide enough feedback to get the clue these buttons are terrible. I was thinking about modding the case to include lights on these buttons - you cannot see them at night.

Other Thoughts: Overall, a great monitor based on performance and design. Well worth the $400 - you won't be disappointed.
