Pros: One of the booths I set up at the Graph Expo convention in Chicago today had two of these puppies and they were quite the envy of the surrounding graphic designers in that section of the convention floor. As someone who sees hundreds of LCD and plasma displays it immediately caught my eye before I knew what it was. The other designers who came by to watch the calibration of it seemed genuinely impressed and they would knew better than me in any case.

Cons: Sticker shock.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat hardware, but they dropped the ball on software.

Pros: The best 30" display image on the market. Properly calibrated or at least calibrated the best you can do without using the supplied calibrator, the colors are better than anything the competition offers.

Cons: The colors without color calibration are simply awful. This is not a big surprise; this monitor is intended to be used by someone who will calibrate it.
The Natural Color Expert software will not run on a Vista 64 machine with a modern video card. I called Samsung support and they do not have any idea when this will be fixed. It is a big deal because without this you cannot set the monitor's color look up table. The best that you can do is buy a monitor calibrator and have the video card tables correct the default colors. You cannot use the supplied calibrator, you will need to buy a retail calibrator until this is fixed. Vista 64 has been out for over a year and a half, Samsung has really dropped the ball. You have to wonder if they really want to sell many of these.
After having an Apple 30" display I have to say that the overall package is lacking in appearance. It just does not have any styling. From the front it is boring and from the back it is awful. I have the moni

Other Thoughts: I had one of the first Apple 30" monitors. That was back when you had to pay $1,000 for a video card that would handle 2560x1600. After many years it was showing its age. I was watching these LED monitors for a while. I saw them at a CES show a couple of years ago. It took a long time to bring them to market. They are finally coming down in price so I bought one.

Pros: Superior resolution

Cons: Not the monitor for gaming, the 6ms doesn't cut it for fast action shoot'em up's.

Other Thoughts: I'm sticking with Asus's 24" monitor 2ms for gaming for now.

5 out of 5 eggsLED back light is better then mah lazor!!

Pros: The LED back lighting re-creates colors so perfectly it often seems like I'm looking through a window. My last monitor was a simulated back-lit LED (it was a Lite Brite) so it's great to finally have the real thing. Before I couldn't quite tell if a photo was real or not, but with this monitor I can tell when there's been das shoopen und da whoopen.

Cons: The 6ms response time is a bit slow compared to lower priced gaming monitors, but that's not what this one is for. My buddy bought the model XL30-2, the "-2" stands for a -2ms response (yes, that's negative two milliseconds.) The monitor displays what he's going to type or click on 2 milliseconds before he does it, now that's productivity!

Other Thoughts: Each and every pixel on this monitor is worth the full price, but you get 931 pixols per dollar at the current price, how can you pass that up?!?
