- Pros: Seems like an excellent monitor.
- Cons: I don't have one, I'm just shopping around.
- Other Thoughts: This is to expand on one of the other reviews. Both DVI and HDMI are capable HD connections. HDMI was designed to expand DVI. Prior to HDMI HD entertainment gear (such as TVs and DVD players) would use DVI. The purpose of HDMI is to expand upon DVI, primarily by adding an audio channel. Both connections deliver uncompressed digital signals which are specifically designed for more advanced (non-CRT) displays.
In other words, it's DVI so it can't pump sound out of your monitor. Your monitor doesn't have speakers, so it doesn't need an HDMI connection. Your TV does have speakers so it needs either DVI and an audio connection (preferably digital) OR an HDMI connection.
A very nice big (basic) monitor!
- Pros: LARGE excellent picture, no dead/stuck pixels. Costco sells it for $350 after a $50 instant rebate (and has a great return policy if you do have bad pixels, are you listening Newegg?). A great value for gaming/general use.
- Cons: A TN screen with typical issues like limited viewing angle. A very basic monitor with no frill things like a height adjustment, etc. (I could care less but maybe you do). The "Magic" software does not work with all video cards (It doesn't like my EVGA 8800GT), this is a known problem with this and other Samsung monitors using this software.
- Other Thoughts: If you just can't be bothered to set the monitor manually check on Samsung web site to see if your video card is supported by the "magic" software. This is a 5 to me simply as a big beautiful screen, if you want more features you may want to look elsewhere.

Samsung RMA Process
- Pros: Good price and feature set. When it works, the RMA process works well.
- Cons: Have had many Samsung monitors over the years. Recently, I've been having a rash of bad monitors. This unit arrived with the sound of something rolling around inside, like a broken off piece of plastic or something like that. Samsung's RMA department was slow and unhelpful but Newegg was wonderful and took the monitor back.
- Other Thoughts: Great, as always, dealing with Newegg but Samsung's quality is really slipping lately.
Really good monitor
- Pros: No dead pixels, really excellent quality if setup is done properly. Great quality/price. Light weight for a screen this size. Nice design.
- Cons: Not 100% sure about the buttonless design, as it's almost impossible to see the buttons in artificial light conditions. It's cute visually, but not all that practical; still, not enough of a nuisance to take off a star from a great monitor.
- Other Thoughts: Running it with from an HP laptop dv6600 with Intel GMA 950 graphics core and it works really well.
vertical viewing angle alters color
- Pros: larger than expected. basic in a good way. very bright. easy to setup for MAC. iphoto images look sharp and nice. videos played nice. whole new world in widescreen. vertical tilt works fine. very streamlined exterior. no dead pixels. actually a very nice monitor. price great.
- Cons: well the big one for me is that the vertical viewing angle DRASTICALLY alters color when looking at top to middle to bottom. sitting in ideal position and just moving eyes, a flat square color for example was literally 3 different shades as i moved it from top to bottom----i design and i am kicking myself that i may be stuck with this. so if you design or do alot of photo work beware. also, the buttons are awesome, but awful in the dark.
- Other Thoughts: i have a G5 mac and do design and casual video editing at home. i have a 24" ACER from 2 years ago at work and the color does not shift vertically like i mention above.
