Samsung 2443bwt...Awesome Monitor
- Pros: Its big, Its bright, and Its beautiful! 20000:1 dyn. contrast, Anti-Glare Screen. No motion bluring during Call of Duty 4 or Left for Dead. It has Adjustable height, and also the screen pivots, so it can be perfectly level. It feels heavy and well-made. No dead pixels. I use the monitor for gaming and graphic design. I ordered it on Saturday and received it on Tuesday. Good Job Newegg!
- Cons: Minimal light bleeding on the top and bottom, only noticable if your screen is all black. Otherwise you cant tell at all.
- Other Thoughts: I love Samsung monitors because of the quality, but I was a little hesitant to purchase seeing as how there was only one review and it sounded like it was written by someone from Samsung. I went ahead and purchased based on my previous experience with Samsung and I'm glad I did. Its like the only one I could find that has adjustable height, matte antiglare screen, and high contrast ratio. I am very satisfied with the monitor and you will be too, if you are looking for the same features that I was.
Great Monitor
- Pros: - Great screen for the price
- Great resolution & size - Color, once calibrated, is pretty great. - Height and tilt adjustments are fantastic, I'm not sure why anyone would buy a screen that you can't raise and lower.
- Cons: - Minor light bleeding at top and bottom of screen, although really only noticeable when the screen is solid black or near-black.
- Rotation / height adjustments are a bit awkward, the screen doesn't click into a rigid horizontal position. - The calibration as shipped is horrible. - Color and saturation are not entirely uniform across the screen, images are darker near the edges.
- Other Thoughts: I'm a photographer and was looking for a screen that was comparable to an Eizo or NEC but more affordable. While this screen is by no means perfect, it's really very good. I tried to be very specific in what I see as the pros and cons for others that are shopping for the same kind of thing as me. The main thing is that if you are going to do any color correcting or retouching with this monitor, you absolutely need to calibrate it with an Eye-One or something similar. Trying to do it on my own wasn't worth it. As shipped it looked terrible, way too bright, the color was off, etc. I'm on a Mac so I didn't use any of the software that came with it but the built-in controls are good enough (with an external calibrator).
Otherwise, it's great. For the price it's a steal I think.

Fantastic monitor
- Pros: Large viewing area keeps me from having to use 2 1600x1200 monitors.
Resonse time rated at 5ms, but compared to 2 other 5ms monitors, seems a bit faster (less ghosting in fast video updates).
Exceptionally bright - rated at 300 cd/m2, but noticably brighter than the two300 cd/m2 monitors I'm replacing.
NO DEAD PIXELS, NO HUNG/STUCK PIXELS.
Menus easy to use - This monitor is shared on a KVM switch between 2 Linux boxes, 1 windows7 box, and a SPARCstation, and it behaves perfectly with each - no hassles whatsoever.
Works well in both normal (landscape) and portrait mode. Someone else complained that the screen would not pivot the full 90deg. This one does, so to me that is a non-issue.
Viewing angle good - VERY slight difference at the edges but not much - and I was used to this from other LCD monitors.
Was going to wall-mount it, but no need - base and adjustability are very good - tilt, swivel, raise/lower, AND pivot all work just fine.
- Cons: HUGE. If space is an issue, this could be a problem.
This monitor is in my home office (I work VO most of the time). It spoils me and when I have to go to my 'real' office, I hate the monitors there.
- Other Thoughts: My trusty Samsung 204B died a few days ago. About 10 days before Christmas. It was difficult to find a replacement which actually was in stock. So I spoke with cust. svc. at NewEgg, and the woman there went out of her way to let me know what was in stock before I ordered - cust. svc. at NewEgg is excellent.
I use this monitor primarily for (graphics and numerical analysis) programming plus writing technical documents. But about 25% of the time I also use it to display real-time data graphically from a large network with over 2 billion elements in it (obviously looking at subsets, sections). Response time is first rate, and no glitches using either DVI or analog connections.
No complaints whatsoever, and I'm glad I ordered this monitor.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
CRT verses LCD
- Pros: Being a diehard CRT monitor freak for 15 years, I took the LCD plunge and purchased my first LCD from… oops! Second up was a Samsung Syncmaster2443bwt from Newegg. You can’t afford to pass this one up. First, the flat black bezel is a plus, as glossy bezel models tend to pick up reflections, especially if you have a running system close behind you or light distractions from windows nearby, or a tendency to touch glossy things. Second, the engineering of the movable parts is as simple as flying a helicopter … pitch, roll, yawl and elevation using one stick. Third, why spend over $400 for a monitor when Newegg sells these jewels for under $400. It took no time to set up and at 1920x1200 resolution the clarity was an amazing improvement over my old 22” crts. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the general description panels on the box’s sides noted 50000:1 dynamic contrast in lieu of 20000:1, hum, how would we know the difference? Why question it?
- Cons: There’s a very small crest of light bleed at the top center especially if you prefer to have a blank black desktop with no icons. Couldn’t tell at the bottom, as my OS task bar is set on medium gray. If you have children that move around a lot, be careful, as these units tip easily especially when set high. Suggest a low-slung workstation … no kids allowed.
- Other Thoughts: Check your graphic card compatibility. Older AGP DVI receptacles will not work with the packaged DVI-D cables.
A few irritations, but nice
- Pros: Bright, fast response, I didn't see any dead pixels. The height and angle adjustments on the stand are great.
- Cons: A couple of irritations, neither of which would prevent me from buying again. First, viewing angle when in vertical is a bit finicky; don't expect to be able to move your head a lot after getting it aimed. Second, the way it indicates it's in power saving mode is by blinking the fairly bright blue power LED; even though the monitor is across the hall from my bedroom I can see the flashing on the ceiling at night if I don't remember to turn off the monitor.
