5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor (HUGE)

Pros: This monitor is great I plan to order 2 more right now. The size of these monitors is absolutely huge. I love the finish the touch sensitive buttons are great. I even love the blue LEDs for the power indicator

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I think that Samsung makes some very nice screens for the money. They seem to have every bit as nice a image as NEC at a much lower price. We have several different models of Samsung monitors at our company and they all have functioned flawlessly.

5 out of 5 eggsSecond purchase

Pros: Its an awesome monitor. I had one for myself and bought one as a gift for another. The monitor came and looked like it was dropped and barely worked, of course newegg right away took it back and sent me another. Newegg is awesome!

Cons: It won't sing to me while I sleep

Other Thoughts: Dual monitors, make sure you have a good enough video card for it. I do :)

5 out of 5 eggsgreat especially for the price

Pros: Picture quality, contrast, color
Advanced picture adjustments
No dead pixels
Fast refresh good for movies

Cons: Stand is not adjustable in any way

Other Thoughts: The stand is not adjustable (no height, tilt or swivel) and puts the base of the monitor about 2.5" above the desk.
If that works for you, this monitor is great.
NOTE: it is 1920x1080, which is 1080P movie resolution.
It is not 1920x1200, which is more common for computer monitors.
But it works great in either application.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought two of these. The first one I got is perfect has no major problems. Everything looks amazing and full 1080P resolution.

Cons: Has no HDMI connector but not a major con. The first monitor I purchased has one green stuck pixel which does not bother me much except on all white backgrounds. The second one has a dead pixel line at the very top center and on certain backgrounds there are tons of green stuck pixels probably 50+ scattered all over the place and they flash. I have not RMA'd it yet but definitely will soon.

Other Thoughts: Love these monitors except for the strange pixel issues. Definitely a great buy and the price is perfcet.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Great

Pros: Beautiful picture at a reasonable price.
This was 2 replace my Samsung 226BW 22"monitor. started failing after 3.3 years (of course).
I loved that monitor so i was worried about getting a new monitor that would be up 2 par with my last one. this i it.
Beautiful picture nice 24 " monitor

Cons: Don't really care 4 the touch controls they don't seem 2 activate every time. But that's pretty minor since I don't have 2 adjust the monitor. If I did It's only one touch key to bring up the embedded Magic Bright selectable setting.

Other Thoughts: Hey, I'm a good customer, why didn't they send me a free one?

4 out of 5 eggsgood monitor, great price

Pros: picture quality
connections (d-sub & DVI)
price

Cons: the stand
touch buttons on front panel

Other Thoughts: Picture quality is great, both for text and photos, and no dead pixels.
The stand holds this monitor up, but that's it. There is no tilt, swivel or height adjustment.
The touch sensitive buttons on the bottom front right bezel work only about 75% of the time I touch them.
Overall, unbeatable value for the price, but if you need tilt/swivel/height you are out of luck.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Excellent workplace monitor - good color, low-to-no edge bleeding, solid blacks. Everything you'd expect out of a Samsung monitor in this price range.

Cons: Stand leaves a little to be desired.

Other Thoughts: I like the touch controls, though I have heard nags about them. I've deployed ~50 widescreens in the last year, from a number of vendors & nameplates. By far I am most satisfied with the Samsung units, and the 2494 is no exception.

Pros: Great picture and great looking monitor.

Cons: Nothing worth noting.

Other Thoughts: Girlfriend picked this up for me on sale from Newegg for i think $200. Really can't beat it for that price.

4 out of 5 eggsNearly flawless

Pros: Great resolution, crystal clear picture, nice functionality. Works great as a PS3/PC monitor.

Cons: The vertical viewing angle leaves much to be desired, and coupled with a stand that doesn't tilt, it causes a problem as it needs to be placed on a surface almost exactly level with the viewer's face.

Other Thoughts: If this monitor came with a stand that tilted and/or had a better vertical viewing angle, it'd be perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Monitor

Pros: I purchase this monitor on black friday for $180 and it was an excelent purchase. I already had a 22 in samsung monitor and I loved that one - Needing a second monitor I decided to go for the 24in. So far neither of these monitors have any dead pixels ( I have owned the 22in for almost 1 year and the 24in for about 7 months. I love both of these monitors. They have an extremely bright contrast and images look crystal clear with a very good response time. I use the 24in for both pc and xbox 360 gaming and have not noticed any issues with the refresh rate. Blu-Ray movies look incredible. The touch sensitive buttons are very responsive and convenient. I was not sure if I would like the touch because of smeariness and responsiveness but neither have been an issue.

Cons: This monitor does not have a HDMI port, speakers, or audio out. I new this when I was purchasing it but make sure you realize this. It is kind of irating especially when taking this monitor over to a friends house to play xbox 360 as I have to also bring a sound system. But the one with speakers cost $80 more.

Other Thoughts: One of my friends purchased the $260 version of this monitor with included speakers, audio out, HDMI in, and a TV tuner. The sound is crystal clear although the base is somewhat lacking.
Also note that samsung includes a 1 year limited warranty and if you register it right away you get a 3 month extension. I would highly recommend any Samsung monitor.

a 3ft DVI and 3ft VGA cable are included.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's good

Pros: Powers on very quickly.
Looks good.
Can get as bright as you'll ever need (you'll probably want to turn it down).

Cons: The touch-sensitive front menu buttons offer no feedback and thus take a couple of weeks to get used to, especially in the dark.
The stand is rather inflexible and doesn't get the monitor high enough for my taste.

Other Thoughts: I had to buy a separate monitor stand for it because I need the monitor much higher than the inflexible stand provides, but I am just very picky about the ergonomics of my setup.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat General Use Monitor

Pros: This monitor is really great for general use or long viewing times; Excellent Price; Excellent Viewing Angles (Not sure what some of the others were talking about); Works really well with XFX video cards with Windows 7; 1920x1080 resolution; MagicBright

Cons: Out of the box, you will need to do some tweaking, but I can't think of a monitor that I have owned (LCD or CRT) where I didn't have to some sort of tweaking.

Other Thoughts: I run two of these and will be purchasing a third soon in a multi-monitor setup on a single PC. I'm a systems engineer and with MagicBright, I have no issues with staring at the screen for a long period of time. I know some people said this monitor is not good for gaming, and its not. Gaming and video people should know that a 5ms refresh reate is not ideal for those type of applications. You should be looking at 2ms-3ms refresh rate if want high quality video and gaming. If you can tollerate a little shadowing and ghosting during movie and game play, then you will be impressed with the picture on this monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsOk for a cheap 24"

Pros: The brightness and crispness of these monitors is very nice. Sleek black bezel.

Cons: I purchased 2 of these. The displays lag is very noticeable badly on movement (games/movies). One of the monitors has 3 bad pixels. The OSD menu option doesn't work on the second one. When you press menu, it acts as the power button turning it on and off.

Other Thoughts: I'm giving this 3 of 5 eggs. I knocked 2 eggs off because of the issues with these monitors, but I gave it the 3 because I knew I wouldn't be getting a top quality 24" panel at this price.

5 out of 5 eggsShe's a beauty !

Pros: Upgraded from a LG Flatron 19in and all i can say is... WOW this thing is freaking huge!

Cons: Bright blinking blue light when in standby.

Other Thoughts: If your video card can handle it playing games on this thing is a totally new experience.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Eyes! They burn with the passion of the thousand suns!

Pros: I replaced my 2004 19 inch monitor with this mammoth, and all I have to say is what have I been missing? The monitor is sharp and crisp with a brightness that my old monitor must have never had. It's a beauty. The colors are so vibrant, I feel like I'm about to explode in rainbows! Sometimes I just put on some music and watch the rhythm machine burn my eyes into puddles. No dead pixels to boot, and a quality product that I'm sure that will last me for years.

Cons: The touch buttons for the preferences can take some getting used to, and at times seem to not respond with the first touch.

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung 2494 SW Glossy Blk 24"

Pros: Great monitor for the money, I actually purchased at BJ whse for 219.00 and saved 8.95 shipping ( didn't want to wait). Replaced my old CRT which was a huge beast. This swivels on a turn table base, tilts, no dead pixels. Easy set up, as mentioned in some other reviews the instructions are extremely lame. It took a couple of mintues to get the screen to turn on, I think I ran my finger over the bank of buttons on the bottom and it started up. There is a power switch in the rear next to the power line. All in All, awesome ! worthy the money so far, sleek gloss black, 13 lbs, 24" screen. what's not to like?

Cons: Not really cons.. just observations that could have nothing to do with the monitor but more with the actual settings and lack of adjustment by me. When in the wide view, the pictures gets a stretched and aren't as crisp, almost fuzzy on the icons. When I viewed some video taken with my phone and switched to full screen, the vid is grainy and out of focus, more than likely it's the quality of the video being view.

5 out of 5 eggsflimsy stand - awesome HD

Pros: -awesome HD 1080p blu ray resolution
-big
-sleek looking
-cool touch no button buttons

Cons: -no HDMI
-flimsy stand with no bolts, just held under own weight (will sway back 'n forth if walked heavily jumped nearby) - scary

Other Thoughts: I won this monitor in an xfire video contest. an awesome edition to my setup: 932 HAF, i7 920 D0 @ 4.2GHz, coolermaster V8, 6GB corsair 1600 RAM, ASUS P6X58D mobo, ATi 4890 1GB video @ 930/1100, 960GB HDD total, this awesome monitor

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor

Pros: looks sleek, no dead pixels, very bright colors.

Cons: Dark colors are way to dark, have to set contrast high in most games.

Other Thoughts: Bought this on sale on black friday for 189$ I would recomend this at that price. If I was buying a monitor now I would probably buy something else. There is better deals on 2ms monitors 24" in the 200 price range.

5 out of 5 eggsGood low cost 24"monitor

Pros: Very good price for a 24" monitor.
No dead pixels.
Very good color, no adjustment needed.
Razor sharp picture.
Contrast ratio amazing, very bright.
Videos very good.
Static pictures very clear.
Text sharp and readable over all the screen.

Cons: OSD buttons are capacitance touch switches, hard to find if you are turning on the monitor in a dark room, no tactile feedback.
Paper instructions very poor. Was not clear about the master power switch on back of monitor. If you are replacing a dead monitor there is no way to read instructions on CD.
None of the above worth reducing the 5 egg rating.

Other Thoughts: Had monitor for about 4 months, working great!
Black Friday Special, free shipping and low price.
Thinking about getting another one.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Big beautiful display. I actually like the touch sensitive controls.

Cons: The flashing light in standby..... it is annoying. fortunatley I have always been in the habit of just turning off the monitor when not in use, so its not a horrible issue for me. I had 1 dead pixel. It is not a big deal at all as I do not notice it unless I look for it, and I actually do have to look real hard unlike an old 17 inch LCD I had.

Other Thoughts: Would not have minded an HDMI port, but I purchased this over a slightly more expensive Acer knowing that I was giving that up. Plus considering there are no speakers, HDMI may just not make much sense. at least it has a VGA port which allows me to be able to use the monitor for both my PC, and my 360.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: great picture. color balance is spot on. touch buttons I was kind of iffy on at first but now have gotten used to them and they rock.

Cons: glossy coat on everything means fingerprints all over. Not sure why the casing of a monitor has to be glossy (every manufacturer does it of course)

Other Thoughts: great price on a great monitor. I'm actually thinking about picking up another one for another system just because this one is working so well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: This thing is easy to set up and run. Running WinXP snapped the CD in and all adjustments seem to be able to make through software. It has a few different color presets and at whatever time i haven't had to go away from those. The picture is sharp and bright as i could want. A very nice upgrade from a once top of the line 21" CRT to this.

Cons: Its little. The little blue power indicator is a bit bright. Power button and other adjustments are a touch sort of thing, a little bit to get used to, but other the switching power on and off haven't used other adjustment on the monitor itself.

Other Thoughts: I have read a bunch of reviews and did a fair amount of shopping before making a choice on this monitor. Folks seem to always talk about true colors, and i dont see it. However, i don't make a living at printing and computer graphics. I have owned Samsung products before and have been very please and this product did not disappoint me. Sharp and vivid picture.

Pros: Awesome. Flawless. Impressive. Gorgeous.

Cons: Came with a shorter DVI cable than prior Samsung monitors. Had to turn the brightness down from 90+ to 50.

Other Thoughts: I really like this monitor, and if I had space and money, I'd buy another one.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing monitor for the price!

Pros: Vibrant color, very bright, True 1920 x 1080 native resolution is great for HD video playback and content creation. 5ms is plenty fast. I'm not a big PC gamer but I do 3d modeling and animation and I don't see any ghosting or lag.

Cons: The non-physical buttons are a little hard to find. Wish the power switch at least was a real button.

Other Thoughts: I bought two - I want two more for work now.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good for the price!

Pros: I knew this monitor wouldn't be perfect giving the price and TN display but it's not bad! I'm happy with it. And I'm a graphic artist. I have no issue with the stand allowing the monitor to move as others have mentioned. It's easy to assemble and light in weight. Color balance is pretty good right out of the box! And bright and sharp. If your monitor is 2-3 feet left or right of your box sitting on the floor, the DVI cable should be long enough. Upgrading from a worn 19" CRT (18" viewable) made my day!

Cons: Uneven back light. The exact viewing angle is difficult to achieve. No matter what your viewing angle, the TN panel will show darker towards the top so a higher viewing angle may help. At least that's what I found. But considering the price for a 24" lcd, I'm happy.

Other Thoughts: Also, it took some tweaking to achieve the best contrast(showing details in highlights and shadows) by displaying all steps on a gray scale(lagom website)
My settings are:
Brightness 70
Contrast 26

5 out of 5 eggsGorgeous!!!

Pros: Contrary to my fears, there wasnt a single dead pixel to be found. I was immediately impressed with how light weight the whole monitor was. The Glossy Piano black melts into the background, instead of being distracting. My favorite feature is the Presets, which enable me to switch comfortably from gaming to text, with a push on the front panel button. Absolutely Plug and play, the text is crisp and clear, and Dragonage:Origins is a marvel to behold.

Cons: The stand part that inserted in the monitor was hard to insert, required a few palm strikes... not something Im comfortable doing to sensitive equipment. The front panel buttons arent buttons, as expected, and I agree that they are hard to find even in full lighting, and have a finicky response. Out of the box, the brightness is great for tanning. Oh yeah, Im gonna need a bigger desk to fit two more...

Other Thoughts: This was my first serious purchase from Newegg. Ordered it Friday night, delivered Wed by Noon, with UPS tracking keeping me updated along the way. Thats super fast processing and shipping in my book. Thanks Newegg! Im about to spend a whole lot more money here...

1 out of 5 eggsText is hard to read

Pros: * Good price, fast shipping, nice size.
* Was able to send it back for a refund.

Cons: * Text is ugly and barely readable.
* Controls are unresponsive at times.

Other Thoughts: I am very disappointed in the quality of this monitor. The text has shadows and is almost unreadable. It strains your eyes. I've never had a LCD monitor be this bad. Additionally, the controls are not always responsive.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Image

Pros: 1080p, 5ms response rate and DHCP compliant. No dead pixels and the picture is amazing. Small upgrade in size from a 22" Hans G LCD (non hdcp) but the image difference is night and day for gaming and movies.

Cons: Doesn't come with free Bluray movies.... Umm no cons.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a keeper

Pros: Fast great service from Newegg
No dead pixels
Great color
Playing games in 16:9 ratio - wow

Cons: It wasn't free?

Other Thoughts: Although it would be a nice feature to tilt or adjust height, I have no issues with the positioning.

5 out of 5 eggsMore than perfect for daily use

Pros: - No dead pixels as far as I can see with the dead pixel tests.
- Extra large (anything larger than this wouldn't probably fit my table).
- Everything (image/text) looks great on it.
- Looks nice.

Cons: - 1920x1200 would better match the dimensions, but 1080p is good enough.
- Attaching the base was weird.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!!

Pros: * It's a Samsung
* Colors are amazing - not sure what people are talking about with settings needing to be adjusted, mine was good out of the box, even checked with calibration wizards and such and it was spot on. I own a 40" LCD HD TV from Samsung, and now this monitor - I will never buy anything but Samsung when it comes to displays!

Cons: Um, no HDMI, which I'm not using anyway...
I don't like the touch sensitive buttons that Samsung has been using - my TV has the same thing... would have been better if it were like raised a bit or something so you could tell your finger was in the right place.

Other Thoughts: I have been using a Gateway laptop for about 2 years now for school. When I was first setting up this monitor, I plugged it in to the external vga port on the laptop, with it already running and lid closed, Windows 7 automatically changed my resolution to 1920x1080 - Nice! When I open the lid back up, the internal display obviously kicks back in, and the monitor adjusts itself back down to my normal resolution, like 1280x800 or whatever the standard is for 15" LCD. Hard to go back after you've seen your desktop in 1080 though :)

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing Monitor

Pros: Very pretty, lots of colors, very big, works great for my gaming and my video editing.

Cons: not "glossy". just the outside is. i thought the screen was too, but just either my mistake, or not stated correctly. OH WELL, still amazing.

Other Thoughts: best bang for you buck! not quite what i wanted, so 4 eggs good rating :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: SO BIG! Oh man this thing is a monster. I changed this out with a 20'' Dell monitor and the difference is stunning.

Huge beautiful screen! Took that bad boy out of the box, set it up, and bam! It looked amazing with no adjustments what-so-ever.

Beautiful black bezel on the side. The mirror finish on the bottom looks nice too.

Touch screen buttons are a fancy plus. :)

Cons: Not sure if it was just me, but my stand was a bit of a struggle for me to fit together. Its only two pieces to. It sits nice now though. :)

Without a light, the touch buttons are impossible to see, but you will figure out where the power button is in time.

Other Thoughts: FOR 200$ A GREAT BUY!!!!!!

Would recommend to a friend any day.

4 out of 5 eggsProud Owner

Pros: This is a decent monitor offering good quality for the price. the DCR and CR are nice and the ms response time being below 8ms is useful as well. Monitor worked fine out of the box - no dead pixels/no back-light issues.

Cons: The reason this didn't get 5 stars is due to the EXTREMELY BRIGHT blue power LED. There is no reason to have a light this bright on a monitor that suffices for a small television screen. After covering it with a black sticker cut to size, the monitor is perfect.

Other Thoughts: The mounting points on this are seemingly non standard. I previously owned a Samsung 906bw with typical mounting points on the rear of the monitor (the old monitor was a widescreen monitor). When removing the panel to expose the mounting points, they are farther apart. It was my fault for not researching this but, other buyers beware of my folly - make sure if you plan to mount this on the wall be sure that you are buying a mounting kit with a wider mounting stance.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome bargain

Pros: Excellent finish, and touch sensitive buttons are a nice feature. Color saturation is very good, along with very good blacks for an LCD.

Cons: When I turn brightness to anything below 100%, I hear a very faint square wave. It's a small amount of noise, but enough that I can't ignore it when there is no sound coming from the speakers and is the main irritant to me. Also, the response time is a little lower than what I expected - if you look closely at an edge in a game when moving, you may notice a very slight amount of ghosting; in most cases, you will not notice it. The buttons are difficult to operate because there is no bump to feel when you're over the right spot; they are not backlit, so nighttime operation is cumbersome.

Other Thoughts: The cons I listed probably come off harsher than I want. In the end, this monitor offers excellent picture at a phenomenal price. I think the pros easily outweigh the cons. That said, the small problems I experienced lead me to give this monitor 4/5 stars. If the $60 sale is still in effect, get this monitor!!

4 out of 5 eggs24" Monitor

Pros: The monitor is a clear and crisp and easy to set up.

Cons: Fresh out of the box, the monitor display was extremely washed out and dim, but after playing with the adjustments for a while I was able to get the monitor adjusted to my liking.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is big enough that you can display multiple apps at one time and see them. It is a good alternative to a two monitor setup unless they are both 24"....

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This monitor looks amazing! Nice and bright, good color. Gaming looks superb.

Cons: There's no height adjustment, only tilt; if you want to raise or lower this thing you better find some phone books. With the included stand the bezel of the monitor sits about 2" off the desk.

Only DVI/VGA inputs. HDMI would have been nice, but for the price it's no biggie.

Other Thoughts: For $210 this thing kick plenty of tail.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing monitor

Pros: Vibrant Screen with amazing picture quality, responsive, despite lack of curves like other samsung models still a nice looking design, fast shipping time, zero dead pixels, 1080p picture is stunning when using high def content

Cons: For videophiles, only a DVI input, no HDMI, the touch sensitive controls are a little off putting at times (but definitely not a deal breaker, just personal preference to have tactile feedback is all), limited movement of the monitor (only up or down), very faint screen bleed if screen displays the color black (again, it's rarely noticeable, but it's there)

Other Thoughts: awesome investment for a generously sized high def monitor

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't be happier

Pros: Great quality all-around from a well trusted name. I purchase two, and both are performing beyond my expectations. They are nice and bright, color is great, and they look very sharp. I have had no problems with the touch-sensitive controls, the lightest touch is all that is needed.

Cons: The DVI cables shipped are quite short...if you're purchasing as a pair and plan to have the computer any distance away, think about getting at least one set of longer DVI cables; the stand isn't anything special, it does tilt back, but not forward, and the base swivels...don't expect much less; glossy plastic = fingerprint magnet; no HDMI ports (not a big deal, but I can't figure out why that's not a standard port anymore).

Other Thoughts: All these high contrast ratings are a sales scam as far as I am concerned, although these monitors are indeed very bright. I don't know why people are having problems with the touch-controls, maybe they have sausages for fingers? And finally, the first time I plugged these in, they came on but never displayed video. Turned out I had to re-cycle the power switch on the back of the monitors after they had been plugged into the computer. I haven't had to do that since, but double-check that before you get the mindset that you may have a RMA on your hands.

5 out of 5 eggsVisually Stimulating

Pros: The picture quality is amazing. I have actually turned down the brightness to 20/100 due to the eye watering detail this monitor puts off. Its superb quality and beautiful finish are just sweet. 24" is the perfect size. Out of the box, this only took me a matter of minutes before i had it mounted to the base and running.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: Two things to consider. One, this does not have HDMI, just DVI. you won't be able to watch things in full 1080i, only up to 720i. I already considered this before buying so i didn't write this as a Con. Also, i had read in a previous review (but worthy of re-noting) that the Menu/Selection buttons on the monitor are touchpad. Hard to see in the dark since they aren't actual buttons, but helps keep the nice cool finish look to the monitor. Very sleek. Love it.

1 out of 5 eggsBROKE AFTER 1 MONTH

Pros: None - it's broken.

Cons: POOR QUALITY CONTROL
POOR REPAIR DEPARTMENT
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Other Thoughts: Picture started shimmering, sparkling, colors had vertical gaps. I tested it on another computer with another cable - same problem. I sent it in for repairs and it came back with the same condition. That's an incompetent repair department! They wanted me to send it in again. Are they nuts? I escalated the issue to the top and now they've agreed to replace it with a refurbished unit.

I'd still be waiting if I hadn't called them back - they didn't even bother to contact me back after I provided them all of the information that they requested. Initially they said that they would send me a new monitor but it was a lie, it's a refurbished one. They said that they don't have any new ones. Yeah right.

Pros: Beautiful colors, very deep contrast. Love the touch buttons, no pressing, just sensing your finger turns it on, its kinda cool.

Cons: None. It was a great value for the price.

Pros: big, bright, perfect size for viewing in my opinion.

Cons: Only one complaint, and I had read this was going to be an issue from previous posts, but text does not show up as good as anticipated. It seems like the pixel ratio is not high enough for the size of the monitor to display normal size text, it shows the text very, very thin. Other than that, looks great.

Pros: Vibrant colors, bright screen

BIG

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is one great monitor. Mine came with NO dead pixels! The colors are beautiful, and the display is super bright. Default brightness out of the box was set to 100... I had to bring it down to 60! As always NewEgg was excellent, stating 3-5 business days for delivery with me receiving the monitor at my house the same day it shipped.

Pros: It's clear and bright right out of the box. The touch controls on the front are cool as hell and it's easy to maneuver around the menu.

Cons: Nothing really. I'm stoked no dead pixes :P

Other Thoughts: No issues with the glossy bevel that appear to "show reflections" around me. Couldn't beat the fact that it came with a DVI-D cable as well.

Pros: Great picture, 16:9 wide screen, Pretty Monitor, and Great price.

Cons: there is a slight back light bleed on the top of the screen when on a black background. You can make it go almost 100% away with tweeking the settings. I really don't even notice it anymore.

Other Thoughts: There are no buttons on the monitor. The power and setting 'buttons' are really touch sensitive icons on the front of the monitor

There is a power switch on the back of the monitor, i've seen some users not notice it any think they're monitor came DoA.

4 out of 5 eggsCan't quite give 5 eggs :(

Pros: Super bright, amazing contrast, glossy border is beautiful

Cons: One dead pixel - dang it. Samsung won't replace without at least 5 to 8 dead pixels depending on how densely packed together they are on screen

Other Thoughts: I got used to the dead pixel - don't notice it unless looking HARD for it. HOWEVER, something I must mention regarding another Samsung product. My TV is having problems - only owned it for 2.5 years. Samsung 40 inch. Bad capacitors. Just FYI, for those of you out there thinking about the tier 2 models like Samsung, LG, Sharp (made by LG), etc. Take this to heart, either get an extended warranty or go with top tier (tier 3) brands like Sony.

I've been a Samsung fan boy for years but it seems they have scaled down their return policy, their warranties are less robust these days, and of course they use the cheapest CAPACITORS they can. This leads to problems. Research online to find all the posts - but basically a lot of people with the same model TV as me have the same problem. The 10 volt capacitors are bulging, oozing, and generally dying (sorry, more of a software guy than a hardware guy so forgive the lack of tech-speak when it comes to circuit boards and other hardware).

5 out of 5 eggsLooks great

Pros: Looks great. Some of the drivers on the cd were out of date, easy fix though. Once plugged in it took me a minute to realize that the power button on the front is touch screen. I thought it was DOA for a min but a little feeling around fired it right up.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Remember all the front button are on a touch screen panel.

Pros: ??

Cons: Wouldn't turn on - had to ship it back to Samsung and possibly wait up to 3 weeks or pay shipping back to Newegg.

Other Thoughts: Total bummer

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung quality, unrivaled.

Pros: Though not really much bigger than my Samsung 226BW, this monitor's clarity, color and contrast vastly outperforms it. That and I finally have a true HD 16:9 ratio screen. No dead/stuck pixels upon arrival. Didn't even have to adjust the settings. Crystal clear and vibrant colors. Works beautifully for my design work. CODMW2, Empire Total War and FSX are gorgeous on this display. BR looks phenomenal. Much better (and without bars) than on my 226BW. The 50000:1 DC makes my work much easier on my eyes as well.

Cons: I did notice some very slight, and I stress *slight*, light bleeding at the very bottom, in the middle. Only noticeable on the blackest of blacks, though. Not worth an egg. Seen far, far worse on other products over the years.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this monitor in a dual setup with my 226BW and an ATi Radeon 4870 1GB gpu, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I'm a graphic designer by trade, so my monitors are the backbone of my work. Extremely happy with the quality of this product. Will buy another one soon and put my 226BW away for a backup and run these dual.

3 out of 5 eggsWonderful panel, medicre stand.

Pros: Great picture. Great sale price. Came with DVI and VGA cables for easy install.

Cons: The stand. The stand comes in 2 pieces, a base and a stanchion, which need to be assembled together by the customer. Unforunately the quality of the design is bad. At the interface between the base and the stanchion, there are two tabs and a screw. The screw holds it together and the tabs make sure it doesnt rock forward. Unfortunately one of the tabs broke off (during shipping?) inside the box. I had to glue it back on using (Plumbing) PVC cement which seemed to hold well. This is a quality issue caused by poor design and injection molding process.

Also, the interface between the back of the panel and the stanchion is basically a piece of metal that fits into a slot. Bad Design. It does not self-align and I find myself always seeing the stand slightly tilted to the left or right. I keep trying to get it straight but it never seems right. Also, it misaligns itself whenever I move the monitor around on the desk. This is especially annoying because it is a continuous problem

Other Thoughts: The 3 piece design is a good idea because it makes for smaller packaging (save the earth, lower shipping costs, etc.) The body of the stand is rigid sturdy so it doesn't wobble when the desk is knocked of shaken like my gateway does. That was the good part of the stand.

The inputs self recognize when I turn on the PC. Unfortunately, I also wish I could manually switch the inputs (I like to plug my laptop into the VGA input sometime. And in order to do this I have to turn off the PC that is attached to the DVI input.

5 out of 5 eggsBought two, very pleased.

Pros: Nice, bright, clear.

Easy to change brightness settings if you don't like bright monitors.

Nice glossy finish, and touch sensitive menu rather than buttons.

Cons: One of the two screens I bought had one stuck pixel, hard to see unless you actually look for it. Other than that? none that I know of.

Other Thoughts: When I bought my first of these screens I was very pleased with it, I was a tad disappointed with there being a stuck pixel though, but hey things happen, and it was all the way over to the right so it was very hard to see. Friends and family liked the monitor so I ended up giving my monitor to my father and bought myself a new one.

Worked out great because the second monitor has no dead pixels, and my father can't even see the stuck pixel on his even after I pointed it out. :)

Overall this monitor is just fantastic, I see no slow down/ghosting in games like some people claim with 5ms screens. (the human eye can't tell a difference unless it is 8ms+ anyways)

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I expected

Pros: A great picture. Love the software, it allows you to fit the color, brightness, etc. to your personal needs. Has a very sturdy feel. I saw this monitor at a friends and replaced my 22 inch with this. Am totally satisfied. The price was great completely worth it and guess what got free shipping. Newegg has always been there for my computer needs.

Cons: Nothing yet

Other Thoughts: The monitor buttons may do well to be illuminated.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Great vivid picture quality. Shiny device. Auto switching on inputs.

Cons: There aren't actual "buttons". The controls are activated by touching the button area with your finger. Works great, but impossible to know where the "button" is in the dark.

Other Thoughts: For the money, I couldn't ask for more.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Great monitor. Very bright and colors are vivid. The base is very solid and making adjustments easy. Also very easy to use the OSD. Buttons are touch which takes a few minutes to get used to but work very well.

Cons: there is some backlight bleed through when viewing an extremely dark or black screen. Not more than any other monitor and actually less noticeable than previous monitors I have used.

Other Thoughts: Got it on the after new years sale when it was 200. Great buy at that price. After buying it I would actually say it is still worth the full price. Actually thinking about buying another one within the next month or two.

5 out of 5 eggsA must buy

Pros: 24" of lcd goodness. HD resolution compliant. Razor sharp picture. Contrast ratio amazing, it's so bright, I can read by it in total darkness. High Gloss finish. Can watch/record TV while doing other things and still have plenty of room. Price.

Cons: Magic Tune utility won't work with my system (WinXP Pro SP3). Downloaded latest version from manufacturer, still wouldn't work. Still investigating, but doesn't impact the monitor.

Other Thoughts: You won't get this kind of deal for a while again. A Samsung monitor, that large for that price? For me, it was a must buy, and I had a 22" widescreen.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: 24" of Cheap monitor. What else can I say. Good construction no dead pixels and works as expected.

Cons: No HDMI input makes it only usable as a desk monitor and for an extra $40 you can purchase a 28" Hanns-G and get two HDMI inputs as well as the additional 4".

5 out of 5 eggsOh Yeah!

Pros: Just amazing. Huge for the price. Big, Beautiful, Black, and Bright.

Cons: No HDMI input, but comes with DV-I cable, so it's not really a con. It's a monitor not a TV.

Other Thoughts: For 200 bones including shipping, it's a hell of a deal.

Pros: Excellent Monitor for the price, couldn't be happier. Compliments MACPRO well. excellent for my editing projects. Crisp image and color control is easy.

Cons: colors seem washed out straight out of the box< however with a little tweaking, I am a happy camper. Also used the Mac system color correctons to get maximum colors

5 out of 5 eggsoutstanding value

Pros: Size allows replacing two 4:3 monitors with one and still have enough real estate for photo editing apps with action boxes on the side. Lightweight in comparison to my other monitors.

Cons: Too bright even with the brightness turned all the way down.

5 out of 5 eggsLoves it!

Pros: Perfect size!! great price, easy to install, and its an energy star so you can't go wrong with that. New egg is also awesome, I got my monitor the exact day it was predicted to come.

Cons: The monitor does move around like its not supported as well as it could be but it could have been my mistake when putting it together.

Other Thoughts: Of course built in speakers aren't going to be the best so I do recommend buying separate speakers if you don't already have them.

I purchased this computer after my friend bought the same one and we are two happy customers!

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: + Black friday sale.. got for $170 + free shipping.. couldnt beat it for a 24" that can also be used as a HDTV
+ Samsung brand
+ Crisp clear picture
+No dead pixels
+no buttons.. the buttons are built into the frame as touch.. didnt know when I bought it so I pleasantly surprised
+Stand set up about 100x easier than my 19" Samsung that had a horrid stand set up.. this one screws in which is wonderful

Cons: - Some reviewers say they get no screen tear when playing games... personally I am getting some MINOR, (i mean MINOR) screen tearing about 1/3 down from the top playing FPS games like Counter Strike.. but only when theres lots going on and I jerk very fast.. but with 5ms there is minor tearing
- out of box screen bleeds light on the top of the screen when its black (like playing a movie or games). Its minor and doesnt bother me.. or not enough to have returned it.. but I was a little disapointed.. my 19" Samsung has only started to bleed and its 3 years old

Other Thoughts: You can't beat it for the price I got it at.. I do wish it was 2MS as I largely game. Disapointed in the bleeding from Samsung... the primary reason it lost an Egg.

Overall for the price I would buy it again and recommend it to anyone even gamers as long as you don't mind minor tearing in fast moving FPS games (other games it never happens... played 100+ hours of Dragon Age w/o a singe tear)... HOWEVER.. for the full price, I would NOT purchase this monitor.

PS: I still love Samsung and and dedicated to their products for life or until they mega-uber-fail me

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!!

Pros: Replaced a 3 year old 21" monitor with this 24" SAMSUNG, what a difference!!! The added real-estate is very welcome, making it much easer to have several applications visible. This monitor is brighter and clear than any monitor I have ever used. The "0" pressure pushbuttons are great to use.

Cons: Basic instruction sheet is very poor. Full instructions are on a CD. When I first plugged in the unit it had no power. The front on/off button did not work. After viewing the instructions on CD, with aid of a laptop, I found the power switch on back of monitor. Hard to install if you don't have a working monitor.

Other Thoughts: Get this monitor, you will like it.

Pros: First off this thing is massive. I upgraded from a 17" so it is a pretty big difference. It is clear as could be with great picture quality.

Pros: Was shipped quickly with no dead pixels. I got it through the Black Friday deal for $190. It is a great deal and it looks great playing all sorts of games on it.

Cons: Touch sensitive to on/off button and menu options but you get used to it.

Other Thoughts: Brightness 78
contrast 100
sharpness 64

2 out of 5 eggsNot quite sure what other reviewers are looking at

Pros: Decent resolution, thats about it.

Cons: Text is almost unreadable on this monitor so it is not for internet viewing at all. While playing games the colors are muted and just not there and the brightness has to be tinkered with endlessly so you can see. The glossy piano finish trim is so annoying that you cant focus on whats on the screen. The viewing angles are terrible. Video is grainy and skips a lot due to poor response time.

Other Thoughts: Took it back after 3 days. I got tired of messing with the brightness and just was not at all happy with this monitor. You can get a e-ips monitor at about the same price range. Look at the Dell and NEC monitors. I switched to a NEC ea231wmi and could not be happier. It was only $60 more and its performance is leaps and bounds above this garbage. By the way, I gave this monitor a chance before I came to my conclusion. I liked it very much when I first hooked it up but all its shortcoming really wore thin on me after a a couple days.People will say I shouldn't have been expecting much for the price range but the truth is you can get a vastly superior monitor for not much more than you pay for this. Hope this helps folks because I was nothing but let down.

Cons: would've like a stand that goes up and down.. whatever though kinda a small con for the price i payed on black friday

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor. It's HUGE

Pros: Inexpensive 24 inch, wide screen monitor. The resolution is great. I can sit in my easy chair and work on my computer.

Cons: Resolution is so nice that I had to buy an HD TV tuner. Try the KWORLD ATSC TV Stick UB435-Q USB 2.0 Interface. It has mixed reviews, but the price is cheap.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had bought the Samsung HD TV that was on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent monitor

Pros: beautiful picture, easy setup & assembly, no dead pixels. from opening the box & assembling mount to having a picture on the monitor took less than 15 minutes. i bought the monitor on black friday for a fantastic price, about $170 & i got it about a week later.

Cons: only a dvi connection

Other Thoughts: I only use this monitor on my desktop computer primarily for gaming and the picture is amazing. I play a lot of world of warcraft & left 4 dead 2 & even though the response time is 5ms I've never had a problem with artifacting or picture quality. I have the monitor on my desk & sit about 2-3 feet away from it so the viewing angle is never an issue for me, but when standing above or to the side the viewing angle limitation kicks in and the colors get washed out. Although the monitor can be moved/rotated in its mount, because of the viewing angle I think it's best to place it in a spot to stay stationary.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Other Samsung works fine. But it's not the one I've ordered.

Cons: I'm giving this monitor only one star because it's not the one I've ordered. Apparently newegg employees from shipping department can't read. I've ordered GLOSSY monitor. I've received non-glossy. I know how it should look like, I just saw it at best buy. I KNOW the difference.
Because of bad experiences with newegg RMA system, I'm not going to return it. I'd probably pay a fortune for shipping it and would be charged extra by newegg for something like "RMA:Sepcial-DISCOUNT FOR PROMOTION". I had to pay that fee when I returned not-working western digital HD.
BTW, I've ordered this monitor from newegg only because the price with shipping less mail-in rebates was cheaper than in best buy. I wasn't aware about the disappearing mail-in rebates on newegg. Before you buy anything from newegg, please remember to save that pdf file with rebate form BEFORE you order anything.

Other Thoughts: In summary, out of 8 items I've ordered in the last month from newegg: 1 was incorrect item, 1 broken, 2 faulty. Besides newegg cancelled one of my orders for no reason. I tried to call them (1 hour waiting on my prepaid phone), I tried to reach their online chat (about 1 hour later I gave up). I sent them an e-mail (that was 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for an answer).
So, if I had problems with 4 out of 8 items bought in separate orders, then what chances do you have to buy anything from newegg with no problems?
I recommend you go to best buy instead, they have that nice return policy, you'll get EXACTLY what you want, you won't have to wait, best buy won't send you spam e-mails three times a week, and so on and on.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome, simply awesome

Pros: I bought two of these from Newegg to replace my old 19"/17" dual-setup and I gotta say; WOW. What a difference. These things are HUGE. The two of them next to each other take up nearly my entire desk. They are very bright, and the picture is clear. Colors look amazing, no dead pixels. 1080p movies look absolutely gorgeous.

Cons: - Only one HD input.
- Touchscreen buttons can be hard to use sometimes, especially when the room is dark.
