4 out of 5 eggsAwsomeness

Pros: Great picture quality and colors 120hz 2d gaming is very smooth on my 6990 3d gaming is good but has room for improvement minor ghosting can be seen.

Cons: displayport would randomly loose signal at time saying it was not optium resolution to set to 1920 x 1080 even tho thats what i have it set to simply turning off the monitor on and off fixes the problem this occurs every so often during boot screen will roll at times i heard this can be corrected by overclocking the 2d on ur video card.this is my second s271750d first one had a dead pixel. The glasses work well and are light only bad thing i found out is they dont hold a charge very long and they arent rechargeable.also the base gets very warm when using displayport i noticed it has a fan in that kicks on when things get warm.also the base will only tilt up and down not side to side

Other Thoughts: Overall very pleased but there is room for improvement.

5 out of 5 eggsBest picture, ever.

Pros: I've had some pretty good monitors, none of which compare to this.
The 2D to 3D takes some getting used to...I've played League of Legends, Battlefield 3, HL2, and Diablo 3...All of which have different 'effects'. (BF3 is the only with a stereoscopic 3D option).

Diablo 3 looked the best, mostly because I think cartoonish type games/movies have the best 3D effects. It was hard to tell if BF3 had any effects at all, but I have seen that there are other drivers that I should maybe be trying.

Movies and TV look the best on with 2D to 3D, I'm not quite sure games are up to par yet.

Enough with the 3D, this thing is beautiful when running 2D. The contrast is superb, there is absolutely no ghosting, and I really get the most of my rig now that I'm not limited to 60hz.

Cons: 3D takes some getting used to, and some tinkering.

Other Thoughts: The glasses are okay, not super comfortable or anything, but I didn't expect them to be. The screen is darker when in 3D (I haven't tried turning the brightness up) because of the glasses.

Overall, this is well worth the money (I got it for 499) for the 2D aspect alone, the 3D is the icing on the cake.

5 out of 5 eggsA++++ to Samsung & NewEgg

Pros: Looks great right out of the box, Hookup up perfectly to my radeon HD 6970 with display port. Games look AMAZING im kicking a$$!!. Drivers installed easy and fast. 3d worked great once u configure it. I love the style better then the 950 model and its the same things just different style and 100 bux less. This had no problems, no light bleeds, no dead pix's. Did i also mention i got this thing fast.

Cons: none! but if i had anything to say that could help. would be a display port to mini display port cord. it comes with a display port cord but, its display port to display port and most if not all vcard i ever seen have mini display port. no biggie thoo because i thought ahead and ordered a display port to mini cord. w/o this cord u wont get full 120 herts.

Other Thoughts: PPL make sure u got like 120 FPS in games to notice the 120 hertz. and

5 out of 5 eggs3d Rocks

Pros: 3d Is unbelievable. If you said 2d to 3d is better than tridef then you did not configure right. I am writing this to help all the AMD 5800 series users out there.
1) install the monitor driver (go get the one from the tridef forum (search for this monitor) because frame sequential is broken on the driver from samsung)
2) install tridef or samsungs version of it from CD. I am stuck on 1.1 because the steam overaly does not work
3) Make sure you use display port if you want 3d
4) Install the latest AMD driver 12.2 is what I am running.
5) If you want all the latest profiles for tridef download latest and install on another machine or virtual machine. Then copy the C:\Program Data\DDD folder into your 1.1 for all the latest games.

Cons: Out of box experience is rough. No guided on what to do to get 3d working

4 out of 5 eggsBest Monitor

Pros: This monitor is awesome. It is thin and stylish. Picture quality is the best I have seem yet. I love the built in 2D – 3D convert in this monitor. It virtually converts all materials into 3D. It Works great with games also. I think the 3D conversion does a better job than the TriDef3D on same of the games.

Cons: The touch buttons are bit unresponsive. I sometime I have to quick the menu and go back in again to change some of the settings. It is a bit of annoying.

Not Nvidia 3D ready. If would have to use an AMD card to take full advantages of this monitor.

Other Thoughts: I used Nvidia all my life. It was hard for me to switch to AMD card. I bought a HD6850 along with this monitor so I can run 1080 120HZ 3D. Everything works great so far. I have no regards switching to AMD. However I personally prefer Nvidia. I did look at the Asus/Acer 27” Nvidia 3D ready monitors. I just couldn’t justify myself to payment $600 on those low end monitors.

I got the ‘No Optional Display’ message once on DVI to HDMI connection on my old GTX450 at 720P, I was playing with it trying to get Nvidia 3D to work with it. But no luck. The issue seems have resolved using the DP connection. Make sure you use 1080 res when you play games. That might be the cause of the issue.

2 out of 5 eggsDead Pixel

Pros: 2D to 3D conversion with good results, glasses not heavy, no problems with my prescription glasses, good colors, I like glossy screens

Cons: 1 dead pixel almost in the middle of the screen, 3 D still gets a bit too dark for my taste and the colors get washed out, some bleeding, expensive

Other Thoughts: Such an expensive monitor should not have any dead pixel. Because of this only 2 eggs. I had some LCD monitors already and this is by far the most expensive one and the first one with a dead pixel.

Made for ATI cards!!! Check what connections you have so that you can use 120 Hz.

3 out of 5 eggsI want two more but, I also kinda dont.

Pros: The picture quality is really impressive, I suggest any would-be customer find a store display just so they can see how great it looks.

This monitor has a "2D to 3D" function which can quickly allow you to transform pictures or games to 3D using provided glasses. For true software/hardware interaction you will have to put in the work to configure this monitor and the glasses that comes with it to work with NVIDIA 3D Vision. Just FYI, 3D Vision setup wizard hates Samsung products, do your research.

Cons: -1 Eggs: Not optimal display! This is the major con of this monitor. An annoying message that will haunt you randomly telling you to use 1080 res except for the fact that you already are. Google the phrase, you will find a lot of forum posts (and cons here on Newegg) asking for help and as far as I could tell there is no response from Samsung. Cycle the power quickly and hope you didn't get fragged in the meantime.

-1 Egg, various items: Tilting the monitor makes me feel like I'm going to break it. You wont be mounting this monitor. The buttons are extremely annoying. On/off wont give you much trouble but navigating the menu will make you want to beat the panel with your fist, but don't do that.

Other Thoughts: Do your research. Pay attention to the 120hz cable requirements of this monitor and your video card. It is nearly 99% true you will only achieve 120hz with display port so check your card and yes the monitor comes with a display port cable.

To anybody at Samsung reading this review, please try to address the "No Optimal Display" issue that you see in nearly every CON here. I want to buy 2 more of these but the high frequency of users reporting this issue and your seemingly non-existent response is not only preventing my repeat purchase but is making me consider returning this monitor while I can for fear of other more critical issues that might occur in the future.

I purchased this monitor in a retail store because I simply did not want to gamble on a dead pixel and the shipping hassle required to resolve it. Sure enough, the first monitor I got did indeed have a dead pixel but the store took care of me. Sorry Newegg :(

4 out of 5 eggsCan't get 3d working correctly.

Pros: What everyone is saying about how beautiful this monitor is, and how nice the 2d is @120hz bla bla bla is true. It really is a nice monitor, i have zero negative things to say about the 2d. You will only get 120hz with a display port cable, i purchased a mini display port to display port cable to go with my HD5970. The monitor comes with a display port cable, not an hdmi cable. Hooked up my ps3 via hdmi and the 3d works fine with it, after setting up a new monitor in the system settings. The built in 3d works with the monitor as well (2d>3d conversion).

Cons: Buttons are a problem at times, but they seem to be getting better. Seems like if you try and press them too fast they stop responding, wait a sec, and then try again in a slower manor and they work better. Came with one pixel stuck at a blue color, I pressed it with my finger with the cleaning cloth that came with the monitor and it went away. came back again after a bit, so i pressed it again, and its been fine since. My Biggest complaint so far is that i can not get hd3d to work at all on this monitor, the tridef sofware that it comes with says the monitor is not compatible, and battlefield 3 (one of a few games that natively suports hd3d with out the use of any middleware like tridef), simply does nothing when 3d is turned on. I have been emailing back and forth with tridef, as well as calling samsung (5 times now) trying to get his figured out. NO luck as of yet. Kinda thinking i should have gone with nvidia 3d vision....I am hoping to get this issue resolved.

Other Thoughts: If someone can confirm that they are using the tridef software with "manufacturer - AMD" and Model - "AMD HD3D Technology" set in the tridef control panel that would make me feel better. I am running a HD5970. 1920x1080 @120hz
