5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Monitor

Pros: I am coming from an older 17" Acer that served me well for several years. However, as a household of digital artists and gamers, we needed an upgrade.
This Samsung has a bright, sharp image, with good contrast and color. The included calibration software takes a minute to configure, and the results are well worth it.

Cons: Touch control buttons take a minute to get used to.

Bummer there is no HDMI input, but not a deal killer.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely worth the money, if you are a digital artist or gamer, or both, and are on a budget.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Recommendable

Pros: - matt finish on the screen is great. no reflection whatsoever.
- colors are good & vibrant.
- a little flimsy but very well built. liked it for not being heavy.

Cons: -no user adjustable. Didn't know how painful this could be before purchasing this one.
- no DVI cable, just VGA. so only analog input.
-Buttons are touch and seriously misplaced. A lot of accidental press and sometimes touching the bottom part cause unintended press.
-Sometimes it feels too bright, but decreasing the brightness below 30-40% cause color abberation. If you try to view grays on Gmail's "soft gray" theme you'd understand what I'm talking about. Gray is almost undetectable and looks like plain white.
- last issue is very subtle, brightness isn't uniform. Fill the screen with any single color image (ie red or blue), you'll see different brightness level.

Other Thoughts: This might be a workable monitors for some, but somehow really disappointed me. I use the soft gray theme on Gmail and on this monitor at no setting, i can tell the gray from white. Brightness non-uniformity becomes annoying while working in PhotoShop. Buttons are absolutely horrible. I didn't know the usability of user adjustment before purchasing this monitor. This monitor is just fixed at rought 15 deg upward angle horizontally. The color you get sitting on a slightly lower surface, like on your bed is really bad, and you cannot adjust it to face you. Really irritating.

Cannot recommend it to anyone.

1 out of 5 eggsdied after 3 weeks

Pros: nice image when it works

Cons: Died after couple weeks. It looks like the external power supply burnt out.

Other Thoughts: I like the quality of the image on the screen, but Samsung's quality control looks like on downhill. It is the third screen died on us in about 1 month. The other one I had to talk to Samsung and they were keep telling me that the screen was good since it passed its self test. Very bad support from Samsung; no advanced RMA. I had to pay shipping and to wait a long time to get the screen back. Eventually it has arrived with scratches.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Great image, no dead pixels, nice size and price.
Got this at Costco for $140.

Cons: It is non adjustable. This would normally be fine except the stand is constructed such that the monitor is tilted at about a 15 degree angle upwards. I had to lift up my chair quite a bit to make this monitor work for me, otherwise you can't see half the colors because of the unfortunate angle.

The buttons aren't actually buttons, they're like touchscreen buttons (but not on the actual screen). This causes a lot of accidental presses when I reach over for something or when my cat walks on the table.

I could not screw in both vga cable screws. Either one or the other would screw in, but not both. It doesn't affect the image or anything, but it was still annoying.

4 out of 5 eggsNice monitory, not the strongest chassis.

Pros: Good quality, nice brightness, no dead pixels. Great price.

Cons: The plastic bezel and construction makes this monitor feel very flimsy. Any significant knocks to it would surely crack it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor, but one problem...

Pros: -Beautiful colors
-Great clarity

Cons: On my monitor, there are a ton of little lines that run horizontal, and I find them incredibly distracting, especially on a white background. It's more than just pixels showing up, these are full-on line.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great monitor for the price.
No changes had to be made , plug n play

Cons: like stated above , should have come with DVI cable instead of VGA

Other Thoughts: actually called samsung because the papers in the box said it comes with both DVI and VGA. She said it can come with either or. They just seem to pick one in this case VGA , pretty lame but cables are cheap enough.

5 out of 5 eggsMy new Monitor

Pros: I like the screen size and believe I would not like anything larger.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I do not consider myself a computer wizard But I do know what I like. I do like and have enjoyed my new monitor very much since I began using it.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great resolution, very bright, and it looks sexy!

Cons: After a few months of use, it started to repeatedly turn off and on when plugged in with a DVI cable. It also has 3 partially dead pixels, but I'm not really too worried about them.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned it turns off and on repeatedly with a DVI cable. Since I'm only using with one computer, I just switched to the VGA cable. It's a workaround, but not particularly happy about it. It was easy to file a support request online though.
