2 out of 5 eggsQuality Picture/Terrible View Angle

Pros: This is a good monitor for the price, and the picture quality is great.

Cons: Terrible view angle makes it where you absolutely have to sit dead in front of the monitor and not too close to it. Color fade is terrible at any angle if you are sitting at arm length. The tilt for the base is only good if you want to tilt the screen up, which would mean looking down on it and straining your neck. Forget about placing the monitor on a pedestal and tilting down for comfy viewing.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a great monitor at this price range I would suggest the S22C300 rather than the S22D300. You get a far superior viewing angle and more control features to contour the picture to your liking.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Monitor I ever had

Pros: Looks Nice

Cons: Vertical Viewing angle is so narrow that I have to be at least 3 feet away to see decent color on screen. Which means I can't use it for PC monitor.

and light bleed very bad at lower half of monitor. Because of it, color at lower half is washed out.

Say away from this monitor.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very good for gaming. On my laptop's screen (Samsung SF410) a lot of games were rather dark, even on highest brightness.
With this monitor, I'm at LOWEST brightness, 75% contrast, and games are P-E-R-F-E-C-T.

Game mode seems a bit useless, though I may use it in the future.

Definitely worth buying, either for a first-time build (which is what I bought it for) or buying 2-4 for multi-screen display.

(Countering the CD Manual Con) You can find the manual as a PDF on the internet.

Cons: The HDMI port is rather useless in the sense that HDMI is meant to carry audio AND graphics, and the monitor has no audio. This problem counts for 0.01 of the whole rating, as it's not that big of a deal.

Contrary to Newegg's specs, the monitor does not tilt, that I have found.

Manual is on a CD, which is useless unless you have a working DVD drive (I scrapped the DVD drive on my build to save $10)
The paper manual can't be called a manual, sadly.

Other Thoughts: I'd definitely buy it again if I were building a second build.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung S22D300HY.

Please know that this monitor does indeed tilt. It has a tilt range of -1° to +20°, as listed in the User Manual.

Place the monitor on a flat sturdy surface, hold the base down firmly with one hand, grasp the top center of the bezel with your other hand and push firmly and gently back. This should tilt the monitor screen back. To tilt the monitor down, just push the bottom of the bezel gently and firmly back while pulling the top of the bezel towards you.

For further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support toll-free at 1-800-SAMSUNG and a representative will gladly help you.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay price for entry level monitor

Pros: - Price
- Gloss finish on frame
- Acceptable clarity for image editing

Cons: - Text rendering quality is low
- Stand "neck" is a little wobbly.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a new 22 inch monitor that wouldn't break the bank, but would be decent enough to do some web development work on, and UI creation. For coding PHP/SQL/JS, it's fine. The text quality is somewhat blurry compared to what I'm used to, but for the price, it's acceptable.
