NEC has long been known for making some of the top business monitors on the market and the LCD195VX+BK continues the tradition. This 19” LCD panel has a 1280x1024 optimum resolution for stunning clarity and detail. Its 600:1 contrast ratio and 270cd/m² brightness rating deliver an excellent picture even in an office lighting situation.
The 100mm x 100mm VESA standard mounting pattern allows you to mount the monitor on the wall of your office or cubicle. If you prefer, the stand has both tilt and height adjustments for a comfortable viewing experience.
Once you have the monitor hooked up to your computer further setup is automatic. The No Touch Auto Adjust automatically optimizes settings at power on. In corporate environments, the NaViSet utility lets administrators remotely monitor and control display settings over the network.

Serviceable monitor, short base
- Pros: Worked as expected right out of the box, and the included Naviset utility -- if past experience is a guide -- probably would allow me to precisely tweak the color to my liking, were I inclined to use it.
I suspect that low to midrange LCD monitors are now pretty much a commodity product -- and if that's the case, then the argument for purchasing this particular commodity product is that it works quite well and comes with an excellent set up utility.
- Cons: The base was much shorter than I'd expected. I'll blame myself for not paying enough attention when I placed the order. It folds up nicely and does what a base is supposed to do, but boy, is it stubby! You may find yourself looking down at the monitor, or placing the base on a book. (In my case. I wound up shelving the base and going for a separate Ergotron dual monitor support.)
- Other Thoughts: Please consider my lack of expertise in monitors in general when evaluating this review. I'm not a PC pro who's looked at dozens of LCDs. I have a four year old NEC 1960nxi -- which was fairly high end, in its day -- and a 17 inch Samsung that I hardly ever use, and now this. That's all I bring to the table in terms of experience with LCDs.
This new LCD195VX seems to do just about everything the four year old 1960nxi did, at a much more modest price. But: it might be a better deal than I think it is, or a lousier deal. I don't have enough experience with LCDs to say.
Excellent displays
- Pros: Assembled 3 displays setup for surround gaming. They rock! Excellent quality and speed. All 3 had no deffective pixels - impressive quality.
- Cons: A bit pricy
- Other Thoughts: Good chioce for surround gaming.

Very nice display
- Pros: Crisp resolution at native settings. Outstanding picture. Recognized by linux right away. Easy to adjust with controls on bottom of front panel. As large of display area as I had on my old Sony Trinitron 20" CRT. Much easier on the eyes than a CRT display. Arrived 2 days after placing order. Newegg rocks!!!
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Buy this
