Pros: I originally bought this monitor to complement my 27" iMac with specs that don't fall short of the exceptional high quality of Apple's built in displays. This panel delivers on every promise in the specs, I love it every day!
I am actually considering shifting gears by possibly switching to the newest Mac mini and hooking up two of these fantastic displays side by side - gives me a little less pixel height, but quite a bit more width which I'd prefer. It's one of these products that you don't regret.

Cons: I love the rare DisplayPort, but would love to see an additional HDMI connector. Upgrading the USB hub to 3.0 would make this product simply perfect.

Other Thoughts: Just waiting for the next special offer on this model and will get at least one more, probably two.

Pros: Amazing wide angle viewing. Crisp sharp images. No image ghosting, or back light bleed. Very sturdy. Games very well, play SC2 and Diablo 3. Vibrant colors.

Cons: Not very attractive looking, pointless integrated speakers and USB. A little bulky. My biggest con being no display port cables in the box.

Other Thoughts: My first IPS panel and I love it. I even compared side by side to my old Samsung TN, blew it away. I had wanted to buy a set of IPS monitors for years and the prices finally came down. I got mine for 234 each with free shipping

Pros: The colors of the EA232WMI are rich thanks to the IPS panel and bright thanks to the LED backlight. The menu system is intuitive and includes every option I want and some I avoid (see Cons). The native 1920x1080 resolution is matched to HD.

The IPS screen makes for a vibrant display and no noticeable change at angles until about 45 degrees, and then it's only a change in brightness, not in color.

The monitor also includes a sturdy stand that raises/lowers, rotates left and right, and tilts up, down, left, and right. The screen can be tilted to the right 90 degrees to portrait mode. The stand holds its position without issue, and it doesn't wobble when typing etc.

The monitor has a built-in USB hub with four ports (two on the side, two underneath), and two speakers (although I have not tried the speakers). It includes DVI, VGA, USB, and audio cables, and power cords for USA, Europe, and .. Asia?

Cons: The monitor has no HDMI port, although HDMI->DVI cables are easy to find. I am using one and it works perfectly.

The monitor doesn't have 1:1 pixel matching for lower-than-native resolutions - but then, most don't, and it does have a 'match aspect ratio' option that is almost as good. And, this monitor does have the best non-native resolution scaling I've seen.

The response time is relatively low among LCD monitors, but it's not enough to be distracting to me (I don't notice it unless I actively look for it). The monitor doesn't use any form of 'predictive ghosting elimination', which could be good or bad depending on your preference - I like it.

Other Thoughts: Overall, the EA232WMI-BK is a great monitor, especially considering the price. Color quality is noticeably better than TFT-based screens, and the stand is perfect. The relatively slow response time could be an issue for some, but personally I don't find it retracts from my experience - I believe that ultimately it will be highly subjective from person to person.

I have heard reports of backlight bleeding along the bottom with this monitor - just to test it, I set up a black screen with all my lights off at night, and I saw no obvious bleeding. There was a very small amount along all the edges, but if I hadn't been looking for it I wouldn't have noticed.. and even then, it was very small. And, regardless, I don't plan on staring at a black screen in the dark very often :)

I easily recommend this monitor to anyone who wants a low-priced IPS-based monitor with its richer colors and wide viewing angles and isn't highly sensitive to display ghosting.

Pros: good brightness, perfect size, excellent color; has displayport

Cons: I'm sure the speakers are terrible, but I don't use them.

Pros: Good colors, stand base recessed enough that I could push keyboard underneath the screen when using my tablet. 4 slot USB hub very handy, nice matte black bezel, sturdy feel, and good viewing angles.

Cons: Connected via DVI-D, I got little horizontal lines of alternating color in color gradients and certain colors that I could not reproduce on my other monitor. Also, significant light bleed in lower right corner and middle of the left edge of the panel. And while the viewing angles were better than my other monitor, I still got the feeling of wash out.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was great. Monitor got here in two days, and they paid for return shipping, which was going to be about 15% of the price of the monitor. Also, I contacted NEC about the problem and they wrote back offering to replace the monitor, free of charge. Because Newegg stepped up, I'm seeing if a Dell U2412M will fare any better. A bit apprehensive, since it too suffered from spotty craftsmanship ...

My kingdom for a good IPS panel that is cheap and 8 bit! Since I am not a king ... 6 bit + dithering, but the viewing angle and smooth color gradients are what I wish for most right now.

Pros: Good colors, nice stand.

Cons: too lazy to calibrate further than the factory settings.

Other Thoughts: It seems like you have to get a professional monitor to get a real stand and matte black. Both were required for me, so that is why I ordered this one.

Pros: I previously owned TN panels from other brands in the past and I must say that this IPS panel offers fantastic image quality @1080p with great color accuracy which is awesome for design related work!

Arrived with zero dead pixels! I had thought this 23" monitor might be a smidge too small compared to cheaper 24" and 27" offerings available, but it actually offers just the right amount of display real estate.

The DV Modes are actually useful unlike what we've seen with other monitors. For my purposes I have all "eco-modes" and "auto brightness" features turned off.

The stand is extremely well built and offers actual height adjustments as well, no odd stack of books needed! The OSD joystick controls are also extremely intuitive and make modifying settings a breeze.

Cons: None really... HDMI would have been nice but I just use a DVI adapter for the MBP.

Other Thoughts: Let's be honest, the sub $500 monitor landscape can be a pretty scary place with some frightful offerings, but this monitor stands out for its quality.

I was initially concerned with the lack of reviews for this particular model but I suppose this is just one of those hidden gems.

I'm definitely glad I went with the EA232WMI.

Pros: This is a very nice monitor. The construction feels high very high quality and the picture is amazing out of the box. Colors are contrast a great with very minor tweaking (disable ECO + adjust brightness). This is a huge step up from my old TN panel which suffered from massive backlight bleed. Oh and it is IPS!!

Cons: -14ms response time may be a problem for some but as of yet it hasn't bothered me even on fast FPS games.
-very minor backlight bleed that is only noticeable in on a black screen with the lights off. Even then it is not noticeable unless you are looking for it.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is wonderful...I use displayport for my PC and HDMI-DVI for my xbox/ps3 (VGA is useless nowadays). I am not a photo editor or an intense gamer but I occasionally do both and this monitor excels at them! Everything is as it should be and flaws are very minor. All in all this monitor is impressive

Other Thoughts: I am a tech gadget junkie. This is my fourth IPS monitor and it is the cheapest IPS monitor I own. Regardless, it is just as good as my HP, Dell, and Samsung IPS monitors. Although the spec states the refresh rate is low, I was able to play COD4 online against 35 other players without seeing any ghost images. For anyone who is on a tight budget and who wants an excellent IPS monitor, I would strongly recommend this monitor without any reservations. It is a steal at this price. It is my first NEC monitor and it will not be my last.

Other Thoughts: I communicated the problem with usb hub I had to NEC support (please see my first post with 1 egg). They not only RMAed this monitor on their expenses (I did not pay for shipping it back) but even sent me a check to cover the cost of my died devices. I sent all of those to NEC after request (again NEC paid for shipping) and after a while received a check.
