5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor!

Pros: This is worth the money. A great business monitor. Crystal clear, sharp and legible text, easy to use controls, excellent stand. The best features are that it adjusts its brightness depending on your ambient light; for me this was a tremendous feature because my room varies from pitch black to bright sunlight. The sunlight also comes in at weird angles and this monitor has zero reflections and holds up under all conditions. I rarely leave reviews but I'm just so happy with this purchase, the extra $100 compared to the bargain displays is WELL WORTH IT.

Cons: None. One of the best monitors I've ever used.

Other Thoughts: Worth the money for business or heavy desktop use.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Color and brightness are exceptional. This is the best monitor I have owned to day and really enjoy it. I don't do much gaming but the ones that I have perform well. NEC is noted for quality and this one does not disappoint. A bit pricey but I always feel that you get what you pay for!

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsTop quality TN panel

Pros: This is arguably the best TN monitor on the market since it was released. High quality panel, construction and stand. It is very light weight. I am mainly using my EA273WM with displayport with a ThinkPad W520. No problems whatsoever.

Cons: - Minor bleeding which is inevitable on LED screens.
- Little expensive but it is worth extra dollars
- It is not 1920x1200

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Good ergonomics

Cons: Poor quality light dispersal across the monitor. No adjustment seems to help.

Other Thoughts: I come from using a NEC Pro CRT monitor. This monitor pales in comparison. The lack of uniformity of the lighting of the screen is just appalling.
No adjustment seems to be able to get the colors rich without making them muddy at the same time. It always looks a little foggy compared to the CRT.
I have to close my eyes when something scrolls over the screen.
It does not seem any better than some of the much cheaper LCD monitors I have had to use. Very disappointing.
Maybe I was expecting too much coming from a 7 year old professional CRT.

2 out of 5 eggsNice looking poor quality product

Pros: Looks very well made. Good brightness, color and image quality.

Cons: Very bad backlight bleeding. There was strong bleeding all along the right side with one point looking like the panel and been pinched by the frame. Also edge bleed along the bottom and lower left side.

Other Thoughts: Really a shame - the monitor looked very good otherwise. For the price and NEC's reputation I was expecting a premium product and they definitely didn't deliver where the panel was concerned. Very sloppy assembly.

5 out of 5 eggsa great monitor

Pros: Bright, crystal clear, good color

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I haven't used it for gaming but for text/programming/photo editing this monitor is outstanding. Actually, I've never seen a NEC monitor I didn't like; this one upholds the tradition.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor !!

Pros: This monitor is built to extremely high standards. You can feel the quality inherent in it when unpacking it. It is just simply a well made piece of technology.
The buttonless controls are nice. They are similar to the PS3, but function much better, they are quick and responsive. The adjustment menu is extensive, you can set it up just the way you want.
The USB hub is a nice feature for me, i have a Macbook Pro 15", which means only 2 USB ports. So having extras is nice, and having them on the monitor is excellent because when not on the road the laptop sits closed behind the monitor so everything is functional but hidden.
The input selection is nice, i bought this to use as a monitor for my MBP, but also to use as a panel for my PS3. So the HDMI was vital, and it functions flawlessly, of course.
The swivel feature is very nice, it makes reading in Acrobat or a long web page quite easy.
The color is great, blacks are deep, LED wonderful.

Cons: This monitor could use a remote, since it functions as a HDTV as well as a monitor. It would be convenient.
The sound goes out, and stays out for a few seconds each time you hit the input key. It is moderately annoying, but nothing i can't live with.
The lettering on the "buttons" is very small and hard to read. In a very bright or very dark room it is nigh on impossible. This is another reason a remote would be grand.
There is nothing i notice that would detract from its overall rating.

Other Thoughts: Newegg gets the nod yet again on their price and shipping. Their cost was lower than everybody else's. They got it to me in 36 hours on free shipping via UPS. Normally UPS takes forever to reach me, so this was a pleasant surprise.
I am very satisfied with this monitor. There are no burnt pixels, no cosmetic flaws, nothing at all wrong with it. The only problems are little niggling things that do not make much overall difference.

5 out of 5 eggsNEC makes good stuff it seems

Pros: Great colors, blacks, and clarity compared to other wide screen monitors in similar price race. I had an old monitor from about 3 years back that I loved but needed a 1080p monitor for Starcraft 2. The old one used to seem great but it's way way too dark compared to this NEC monitor.

And tried a different first new monitor but it was extremely greyed out... I couldn't get blacks to work, it was washed out especially near the bottom and just looked pretty bad- had to return it. This NEC is so much incredibly better! I took a gamble since it had no reviews (just one on another site), but it had a lot of options that I wanted anyway like swivel, tilt, and telescoping height... so I took the risk and man am I pleased.

Has nice viewing angles... from 1 foot to 3 feet away I can see everything clearly with no blackout effect. You still have to be fairly centered, but it's viewing angle is much better than any PC LCD I've dealt with so far.

Cons: Yeah it's more than the $300 or so you pay for other LED LCD TN 1080p monitors with supposedly similar technology. But man, I'll gladly pay an extra to get a really nice usable monitor. I can't handle that greyed out nonsense.

5 ms response isn't the absolute best for gaming in theory, but the first new monitor I bought was supposed to be 1 ms. Well, it was extra extra grey at that response time, and I had to use menu options to put it on "medium" response or something to get it less greyed out. So I bet that's at around 5 ms... so why was I ever thinking about keeping that monitor?

I guess this monitor is not as good as a $2000 IPS monitor, but all the IPS ones for less than $2000 had major problems in reviews like terrible anti-glare or loud fans. I'm not paying $2000 for a monitor that might be a tiny bit better than this one for 1/4 the price, sorry.

The controls for the menu are touch sensitive. OK, but can't use easily in a dark room.

Other Thoughts: Can't find dead pixels or anything bad. I haven't had it for long, but I love it. It's sad nobody else has reviewed this thing... it deserves more love. Settings out of the box are great. I did try the option to auto-dim in low light (I think... still need to tinker) and it seems to work great, although I don't notice it dimming- maybe it naturally looks good in bright or dark rooms. I say this because one thing I loved about my old monitor was the ability to hit a single menu button 6 times to cycle through presets... one being text that is easy on the eyes in a pitch black room. This monitor seems to auto adjust with the setting I picked because it's easy on my eyes as I type this. Awesome.
