4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: Bigger than what it replaced; a 19 inch BenQ 4:3 flat screen.

Built in speakers, but not sure yet if they work or what they sound like, as I have aftermarket ones, and there was no 3.5mm aux/audio cable included.

4 USB prots on the back side of the monitor for my keyboard, mouse, phone charger, and whatever else I need at the time. All the buttons and USB ports work.

VGA and DVI

Cons: Packaging was a little sparse, 1 layer of bubble wrap around the critical (screen) part of the product, about 5 sq. ft of paper filler that did absolutely nothing to cushion a knowingly fragile product. -1 egg.

No HDMI port. No audio cable included.

Like everyone else said, the description is for a different monitor, the newer version of this one. But I will not deduct any eggs for this because 1. It's one heck of a deal at $89 with extended warranty, and 2. There is nothing wrong with the monitor itself. No dead pixels, no scratches that I can see anywhere on the screen or the housing.

Other Thoughts: Its actually perfect because Ive been putting off getting a new monitor, because I hate change. This monitor I can hardly tell I bought a widescreen monitor, it is a good upgrade from a 19 inch. All in all, very happy with this refurbished product.

Had it not been for the (lack of) packaging, this product would have 5 eggs hands down.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's good

Pros: It was packaged quite well. (although I saw reviews of it being not packaged well) It came in like 2-3 days! It was pretty cheap. It's quite big. And I like it!

Cons: The viewing angles aren't really great, but I'll try to get used to it. I also tried to fix it on the menu but it didn't help very much.

Other Thoughts: It's not really a Con but I received a coupon for 20% off that this item was eligible for and I was kind of regretful the day after.

3 out of 5 eggsHorrendous Transit Packaging!

Pros: This monitor looks solid so far and a bargain for the specs. It's clearly been used given the mimor scratches and marks on the stand and bezel, but no big deal there.

Cons: I echo The Builder's comment about the awful packaging. Literally thrown in a huge box with a few scattered pieces of loose bubble wrap knocking around the UPS system for a few days. Cords and stand were attached, like it was just pulled off of someone's desk and thrown into a ratty, much-too-large carton.

Other Thoughts: As poorly as this thing was packed for shipment, I harbor concerns that latent transit damage could crop up later. I hate that, especially from NewEgg, who usually prevents this sort of sloppiness.

1 out of 5 eggswrong spec with resolution not supported

Pros: The spec is wrong. It is a a messed up mix between the EA221, EA222, and EA223.

The power consumption is wrong, it is at least 39W. This is not a LED monitor.
This is WSXGA+ a HD format for 22 inch and laptop that get ignored and not supported.

Cons: Some graphics adapter may not support the native resolution of this display.
Although an adapter may support 1650x1200 or higher, the adapter may not know how to handle this native WSXGA+.

The blame goes to many organization who ignored the WSXGA+ which has been the lead to the HD, and later WUXGA taking over with 1920x1200. Yet the WUXGA has been shortly produced and then ignored as all producers supported the 1920x1080 the Full HD. Shame that the support is for displays that are used to watch movies, turning the computer into a TV or media machine!

Other Thoughts: This is not a LED and its resolution may not be known to your computer.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Misleading Description

Pros: Display does rotate 90 deg., Great menu system, Supports sRGB color space (poorly), built-in speakers w/headphone port and 4 port low current USB 2.0 HUB.

Cons: This was to have a Display Port and LED backlight.
1 Star for Newegg's misleading description.
Monitor is a good but not great, viewing angle is not up to what you would expect from NEC +/- 15 Deg. off axis and you know it. Wasn't expecting a TFT/IPS panel but this is bad to have the NEC label on it.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsGood Basic Unit

Pros: Its a NEC ! Good size great price for a Refurb. Good controls Good screen NO DEAD PIXELS AT ALL.

Cons: The packing people at New Egg. DO NOT JUST THROW THE MONTIOR IN A BOX AND SHIP IT. There was just one piece of bubble wrap on the bottom of the box and the monitor was flying around in the empty box. NO stabilization at all.

1 out of 5 eggsListing error?

Pros: Nice monitor, good price, really good with the current sale.

Cons: Alas, this is not the LED backlit version according to NEC's own specs.

Other Thoughts: I still harbor a faint hope that this might actually be the LED backlit model (EA222WMe), but everything except that "LED" in the headline is consistent with it being the older cold-cathode backlit 221. 27W sounds like it could be LED, but that's in "ECO" mode - the 222 is rated only 13W in that mode.

Obviously I haven't actually ordered one of these. ;-(
