1 out of 5 eggsLG - Life's Good - NOT!

Pros: Unable to find out.

Cons: After reading all the rave reviews for this product (LG hired reviewers?) I purchase this over the Dell equivalent. I received the monitor in fine condition, hooked it up and set about adjusting the brightness, contrast, etc. I put up a white background to adjust the color, and what's this?! A greyish smudge inside the middle of the screen slightly above center about the size of the heel of your palm. No matter what I did, adjust brightness, contrast etc, I couldn't make it go away. Stepping back I noticed the left side of the screen near the edge had a darker shade of white that bowed out in the center about an inch or two. I was floored. I noticed upon very slightly touching the surface of the screen you could generate a significant "halo" around your finger the same color as the smudge. Touching the surface of my Dell 2001FP (related panels?) does *not* do this no matter how much pressure you use. I think the box foam is damaging the sensitive screen. It gets better...

Other Thoughts: I called the toll free LG customer support for computer parts in the US at 8:15 A.M EST and am told they don't open till 7:00 A.M. CST. Huh? What happened to the 24/7 365 day support they advertise? I called twice in the morning and once in the afternoon and the line just rang over 10 times and nobody picked up. So, no support, no quick swap, and false advertising to boot. Do not buy LG's products.

3 out of 5 eggsMy First LCD Desktop Monitor

Pros: -Never seen it Ghosting
-Great Color Reproduction, have received complements about it.

Cons: -Terrible Blacks!!!
It may be better then most LCD's, its hard to say as this is my first and all I have to compare it to is my laptop - which it does outperform, however there is a consistent slight red tint in the black areas which turns almost solid red when you look at the screen from an angle.

-There is also some pretty awful looking back light bleeding in the corners, which combined with the red tint makes watching wide-screen movies unbearable, and very distracting when playing dark video games (FEAR, DOOM3, heck even Quake4).

-Not very bright, its bright enough to not be strenuous when viewing text, especially black on white, but when you try to watch Video's you find yourself pushing up the gamma along with the brightness and contrast and dealing with the washed out look so you don't miss out on a lot of detail.

-PRICE!

Other Thoughts: I've had this monitor for almost a year, It's great for everyday web and windows use, its far better then your adverage cheapest-lcd-we-could-possibly-include-with-your-new-name-brand-pc but even though the color is excellent and it doesn't ghost overall it's horrible for video's and games.

Also the price tag hurt the wallet, I think I may try the SCEPTRE X20WC-Gamer next since it has the special shiny screen coating, and as I write this costs about 1/3rd as much. It's also supposed to have a much higher contrast although its said to bleed badly too, I'm hoping that without black bars at the top and bottom of the screen it won't stand out as much.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: -Crystal clear text/lines
-No ghosting
-Great turntable base
-Rotatable screen

Cons: -Poor color display/banding. Makes webwork very difficult.
-Interfacing issues with my graphics card. Simply plugging in the DVI cable and hitting source on the monitor to switch to digital wont actually do anything until you install the drivers and tell your graphics card to switch to digital.

Other Thoughts: Good monitor for the price, was hoping for smoother color gradients though. If you want something for graphics work, don't expect to find anything in this size around this price. I looked at several similar monitors and they are all in the same performance class. True graphics LCDs will cost you upwards of $1000.

2 out of 5 eggsColor Banding

Pros: Great Black Level and good build quality, dosent ghost or blurr in games,No dead pixels

Cons: Has a pretty bad color banding issue,do a search in google to read up on it,there was also slight blacklight bleeding in top right corner.

Other Thoughts: Im currently having to deal with LG and see if i can take back this monitor and get a updated revision that dosent have the problem, mine was manufactured in dec 05 reports are saying that it has been fixed in later revisions past the March manufacturing date.

5 out of 5 eggsWicked Quality

Pros: I'm not cursing myself for abandoning my 19" CRT--I'm able to find settings that give me the same confidence I had when editing photos and encoding video that I had with my CRT monitor(s). Well-packed, with no dead pixels--using UPS across the country, no less!

Cons: Don't lose the driver CD--you can't find the drivers for this thing on the LGE website. That's about the only thing that's wierd or hinky about it. LG customer support is becoming legendary.

Other Thoughts: I've been looking for a quality LCD monitor for 2-3 years. Recent low-battery UPS errors followed by a 3-day power outtage made up my mind. Apparently, you can find great 17" panels and great 20" and larger panels, but there aren't many good 19-inchers out there. Forget Dxll--you just can't tell what you're going to get in one of their's. This has an AS-IPS panel that may be the quickest IPS panel in a 20" monitor available. It's got great color fidelity, good viewing angles, and is fine for video. I see no banding whatsoever. I imagine it would be excellent for games, but I'm not a gamer. All things considered, there isn't another monitor on the market I'd buy. It's about your eyes, stupid.

5 out of 5 eggsoutstanding monitor

Pros: very bright and clear monitor. I liked it so much I bought three more.

Cons: The only thing I dislike about the monitors is that the stand does not permit me to put the monitor low enought. It sits about four inches off the table. Since I have bi-focals, I had to rig two of the monitors so they sit propted up with the stand disassemble and pointing side ways in the back. Then the monitor sits right on the table.

Other Thoughts: Games look incredible. I can't see in ghosting in counterstrike source at 1600x1200

5 out of 5 eggsI liked this so much I bought another

Pros: I bought one of these for my wife and was so impressed I bought one for myself. It is a very bright and clear LCD. At 1500x1200 Counterstrike Source looks stunning. This monitor is just sooooo nice. I can't get over the clear print and the rich colors. I can't think of anything negative to say about it. I didn't notice any problems playing a fast shooter game. I whole heartedly recommend this monitor.

Cons: I thought the stand was too high. Both myself and my wife use the monitor with the stand to the side without the base to hold it up. This way the monitor is flush with the desk. Its a little odd but it works.

Other Thoughts: As usual NewEgg got it here fast. NewEgg is probably the best mail order computer web sales company there is.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: NoDeadPixels.
Colors are bright! and vivid, black is black, decent video playback w/x1800xt512mb.
The osd is pretty good.
Clarity is even better than my .0255 pixel pitch crt with xp's cleartype.
1600 X 1200 is legible now compared to a little 19" crt.

Cons: -na-

Other Thoughts: Thanks Daniel M. and Newegg for help with the ordering issue. My first lcd. I used a Trinitron screen for 5 years. (with the two little horozontal lines) Maybe the colors were washed out on the old crt. I had to drop the r g b from 50 to 40. The r even a little more for my liking.
LG saying they would pay shipping both ways if there was a problem in the first year sealed the deal for me.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper monitor

Pros: The monitor is about as perfect as it gets. There were no dead pixels, text is sharp, and it's big. Its very bright and clear. I like it so much that I am going to get one for myself too. I highly recommend this monitor - its nicer than the 19 inch Samsung my son uses.

Cons: I thought the stand was too tall. So I took the base off, and have the monitor turned 90 degrees and sitting on its side. Its perfect this way. I would have preferred to put it lower on its stand though.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg was super as always - this got here a day early.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Gaming

Pros: This product has so many pros it's hard for me to begin. *3 minutes later* I'd have to say that this LCD monitor is perfect. It arrived with zero dead pixels which is always a plus. The viewing angle on this baby is insane. I put the side of the monitor directly between my eyes and looked almost parallel to the screen. It looked exactly as if I was viewing it normally from straight ahead. I probably would have been able to see at more extreme angle but the glare from the "glass" prevented me from angling it any further. The base stays where you put it and it turns with ease. The 90* pivot is a definite plus. Playing BF2 at 1600x1200 resolution is INSANE! Contrast, color, everything is perfect.

Cons: When I play BF2 at max resolution, I can barely read any in-game text IT'S SO TINY! Not really a con but I mention it anyway. I DO have a problem where occasionally, the screen goes black, then the "FLATRON f-ENGINE" logo comes up, then the screen comes back up. It's very annoying when I'm playing intense BF2 rounds. It must something with the monitor but I can't find anything to make it stop. Anyone have any suggestions?
