The Flatron L246WP-BN from LG is a true display hub. The 24” widescreen has a 1920x1200 native resolutionto let it display true 1080p video. The panel also has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 500cd/m² brightness rating for superb image quality. The intelligent auto resolution feature dynamically adjusts the resolution level for optimum picture quality.

This is also a great choice for writers or desktop publishers since the monitor can pivot 90° into portrait mode so you can see a full page and more on the screen. The monitor also has a 3-port USB (1up & 2down) hub so you can easily attach thumb drives or even a graphics tablet.

One of the keys to success is to be well connected, and this monitor is very successful. In addition to the standard D-Sub connection and the previously mentioned USB hub there is also an HDCP compliant HDMI port. For further connectivity there is also a component video input. LG's motto is "Life's Good" -- it'll certainly be improved with this monitor!

5 out of 5 eggsStill Going Strong

Pros: After How Many Years, I'm still very happy with this monitor. The Price was steep at the time. but i must say best investment compared to some other products out there.

Cons: Well there is known issues with EDID and HDMI support with a picture offset. Ive been able to use a certain software to dump, edit and reflash with success. but sucks for the common user to have go through it. as far as dead pixels there was one that was able to be rendered out from beginning. but hey one out of millions aint bad. and then there is the Exploding capacitors on power board that make it shut off and on out of nowhere. never experienced that so don't know what to say, heard its a 5 dollar fix and about 30 minutes so cant wait. Who knows maybe i will pass it down to my grand kids :-)

Other Thoughts: LG Products Typically Blow in my eyes. But this product has come out on top if you find one used in awesome shape for cheap go for it you wont be upset.

5 out of 5 eggsAs good as they say

Pros: Excellent display. 0 Pixel problems. Good color depth and imagery. Almost CRT Photo-Editing quality.

Cons: Almost. For the price this is a high quality device. If you are doing heavy editing or similar work, you still can't beat CRT

Other Thoughts: Someone else mentioned the lack of auto-find feature is kind of a pain. As a person who uses a combination of machines connected in different ways it can be a little extra work. But you get used to it, but for the average user it will never matter.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Product and Service all-around

Pros: Amazing colors, 8-Bit panel, near-perfect viewing angles and a whole slew of inputs make this panel amazing. I was a bit skeptical about spending so much money on a monitor, but after countless hours of research, I finally realized that this monitor offers just about everything one needs in an LCD monitor for a reasonable price. I highly recommend it!

Cons: The black level isn't as good as my CRT monitors, but of course this isn't something that would discourage somebody from buying an LCD monitor since its the nature of the technology.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money. Newegg handled a credit card company error without flinching. I placed an order for this product and it was paid for and shipped from California to New Hampshire in 36 hours. Outstanding craftsmanship from LG, coupled with amazing service from NewEgg and UPS made this experience exceed my wildest expectations!

5 out of 5 eggsamazing monitor

Pros: I have gone through 3 different monitors in the last 6 months trying to find one I like. My search is over. The contrast ratio is insane, the brightness levels are awesome. Viewing angle is superb. no complaints. I do a lot of wedding videos. Just switched to HD this is perfect to show off my content

Cons: none so far!

Other Thoughts: maybe include on the next model a way to include dvi seperate from hdmi with a separate audio input.

5 out of 5 eggsWhose is best? I dunno . . .

Pros: I recently bought this exact LG L246WP-BN display and it blows away both of the TN paneled LCD’s I have purchased and tried. It exhibits uniformity in brightness and contrast across the screen, the color is outstanding and best of all the off center quality is very consistent exhibiting none of the terrible drop off and yellowing effect seen in the TN paneled LCD’s. Is the LG L246WP-BN the best 24” LCD out there? I doubt it but for the average to above average user it’s great! And FYI, this is a discontinued model. Call LG and they will confirm this. Does this make it a bad display? Use your head, if it was good when it was introduced it is a good display now. Should the pricing reflect this discontinued status? I don’t know. Of course being a highly rated, maybe even coveted display, the price may hold constant until supplies dwindle. I was fortunate, I found the last of these, new in-a-box,in my area from the guys with the Blue and Yellow sign AND a 14 day return policy. Price $480!

Cons: Huge! Very bright but aren't all of the better displays. And a thought, what's the deal with brightness? When is a display "Bright Enough"? Is it when my eye balls melt down my cheeks? The on-screen menu could be better, SHOULD be better! The placement of the menu control buttons on the left side under the left edge of the frame is awkward.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I like to buy LCD displays where I can try them and return them if they are unacceptable; but I have purchased several from newegg. As far as LCD displays I'm sorry there are just too many variables, i.e.: burnt out pixels and horror stories regarding LCD’s to buy it and be stuck, pardon the pun.

Don't get me wrong; I have bought and will continue to buy from newegg but I also have to cover my you-know-what as well. If newegg has an LCD I have to have and can't get it locally for around the same price I'll buy from newegg every time. I like newegg, I respect them as an e-tailer and would not hesitate to refer them as a number one web e-tailer to anyone I know. It's been said before so I am just echoing the thoughts of a multitude of newegger's "NEWEGG ROCKS" !!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: I purchased at LG 226W, set it up, and then returned it for this panel. This monitor is the MOST uniform in color and blackness ive seen yet. There is no black light bleeding and its highly adjustable. For games its extremely responsive and crisp.

Cons: It takes time to adjust properly. Its VERY bright out of the box. and to get all the colors to balance, especially so your eyes arent burned out by white web pages, it'll take some tweaking with adjustments. but once its set up its great!

Other Thoughts: running this on a 680i and 8800 GTS comes with a 4 foot DVI to HDMI cable. it works flawlessly.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: Very bright and vivid picture quality. I recently bought a HP 2207, HP w2408, and even the Samsung 226cw which i returned all of them (Luckily i bought those at best buy). I don't know if it was me but it was really a pain to calibrate all of them and picture quality isn't up to par with what i wished. Once I plugged the LG in, the first thing i noticed was that the monitor did not require much calibration other than the fact that the monitor was a little bit on the bright side. It does help that this monitor uses P-MVA panel and not the useless TN panels. I haven't noticed any ghosting in games much and I do play a lot of games.

Cons: THe button placement and blurry non native mode.

Other Thoughts: Use this monitor for PC use and get the Benq if your going for more of the console gaming use.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Monitor, I got Two

Pros: Before purchasing this monitor, I did some extensive research. Any cheaper than this and you either get a bad TN monitor, or a monitor lacking certain key features. If you pay more than this you may get more inputs, and a higher quality panel. When you sit in the middle, you get this typical high-end 24 inch monitor. I was so confident with my decision that I actually got two of these. Right from the start, I was pleased. Easy to put together and feels very well-made. Upon first starting it up, it looks amazing. Very high contrast, great colors, no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, amazing viewing angles, and very sharp display. This is mostly due to the P-MVA LG panel inside. Outside of the picture, the base/stand is amazing. It goes up and down a lot, tilts, swivels, and pivots; very nice for adjusting the location and position of the monitor. Menu system is easy enough and has a lot of options. I love the Picture-in-Picture feature. Love the thin bezel!

Cons: Although I am very happy with the monitors, nothing is perfect. Although neither of the two I got had any dead/stuck pixels, one of them does have a small dust/fuzz particle underneath the anti-reflective coating. I only can see it on really bright colors, so no big deal. It also has to be said that these monitors do take a second to warm up. From off, expect them to take around 10 seconds before you have your picture. (Not really an issue if you never completely turn them off) I did not find this to effect the viewing of the boot-sequence, nor has it ever been an issue. The menu is easy to use, but the buttons are sometimes hard to navigate. I kind of wish the entire monitor used the nice glossy plastic that the bottom of the stand does. Also, it is a little to firm on the up/down adjustment; got to use a decent amount of force to get it up and down. (Not just a finger like some other monitors) I kind of wish it has a DVI, although the included HDMI-DVI cable works great.

Other Thoughts: Again, I love this monitor. I love it enough to have two of them sitting on my desk, and they will be there for a while. Once you get it all set up and configured, the colors and vibrancy of the display is stunning. Just to help some of you out, I used the User setting, 100 contrast, 62 brightness, 98 Red, 100 Green, and 91 Blue. This is after a good amount of tweaking. I think it looks pretty good this way. Don't hesitate to get two, the thin bezel makes it great for a dual-monitor setup. Buy buy buy!

5 out of 5 eggssweet

Pros: great picture when configured as other users have reported. set to srgb, configured brightness, and then the video card's gamma, digital vibrance, and contrast. perfection. having owned samsung and westinghouse, the picture on this lg when configured is vastly superior. plus you get a p-mva panel for the price of a tn panel if you look in the right places.

Cons: none so far. had a 24 inch samsung without hdcp. sold it and purchased westinghouse 24 incher from here. hdmi port died within first week. RMA for a loud buzzing replacement. then a refund. im an lg fan and was glad to give them a shot when i found one in my price range.

Other Thoughts: the ps3 looks great. i haven't used the pc audio output to route the sound to my speakers yet. picked up for 450 on sale new sealed in box. sorry newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsworth the wait

Pros: I researched monitors for months. I was originally looking for a 22 but decided to bite the bullet and get a 24. I bought this LG on sale from a big box store and saved alot of cash, I am could not be happier with the display. It is very bright, really easy to adjust, and the siwvel feature is very nice for viewing web pages and other applications. So far I am nothing short of ecstatic on the purchase, I would hesitate to buy a different monitor.

Cons: I have not noticed any yet, but I have not tried to calibrate the color/brightness yet, either

Other Thoughts: part of the reason I am so pleased with this monitor was the price I got it for below $500 Newegg rules but sometimes they just can't beat a big box sale. The price and return policy are the only reasons I did not order from NEWegg.
