5 out of 5 eggsThe best monitor I've ever had

Pros: Large screen, super sharp/clean picture, plenty of hookups for everything I need. Comes with remote! (I just like that idea)

Cons: Sound isn't anything to rave about, but it gets the job done. Speakers not great for anything too loud or intense. Good thing there is an audio output to go to my stereo.

Other Thoughts: I think it would be cool to be able to watch my movie and do my computer work at the same time on the same screen. Yes it a bit impractical but it would just be nifty to do. Good thing I have another monitor to fulfill that job.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I bought it for

Pros: Built solid. Tons of inputs. Beautiful picture. Easy to use and intuitive menu's. Aspect ratio conversion.

It's a monitor with an HDTV built in... What more can you ask for? Absolutely perfect for dorm room/bedroom environment

Cons: None really, darks could be a little darker but hey, the picture is amazing none the less, just not perfect.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my apartment (at college) primarily as a second monitor and HD screen for my 360. Currently have it hooked up via VGA to computer (HDMI cables on the way) and quality is awesome. Upon connecting it, the monitor automatically adjusts refresh rate, sync, etc. resulting in a beautiful picture. Sadly my 360 died (RROD) about 2 hours before this got here so haven't had the chance to hook that up yet.

Since I didn't have my 360 to play with, I decided to hook it up to cable. I didn't plan on doing this since I have a really nice 25" CRT and you can't beat the classic CRT's for 4:3 ratios but figured I'd give it a shot. And boy am I surprised... This monitor/tv upconverts the 4:3 signal to 16:9 BEAUTIFULLY. Better than my dad's 47" LG tv at home. I actually feel that the up-conversion is an even better picture than forcing the TV into a 4:3 setting. That's how good it is.

If you are considering this, get it. LG makes high quality products, this included.

5 out of 5 eggsLovely

Pros: Tons of input, easy to switch around them and great for watching movies on my PC. The amount of desktop space I now get to work with is amazing (you can have 2 windows side by side @ great display sizes). Also great for reading pdfs and what-nots when fit to width is selected...I now look forward to assignments. And it makes movie watching too enjoyable

Cons: Would have been nice if it shipped with a DVI and HDMI cable. Other than that, the only problem I have is that I am forced to choose between watching movies and doing my homework each time I sit infront of my monitor

Other Thoughts: As a monitor I have no complaints about it. Ubuntu and my graphics card sometimes argue about how to best display on the monitor before settling down...but this is only happens sometimes at bootup.

5 out of 5 eggsBUY

Pros: this thing is amazing, i currently have my ps2, ps3, and pc hooked up to this baby, and i still have room for an xbox 360. (like id want to put one of those on here though) i literally just paused my game, switched inputs, and am now writing this review. buy this

Cons: the stand that it sits on, while it does screw in, seems a tiny bit weak. nothin big though, swivels and adjusts just fine

Other Thoughts: buy this

3 out of 5 eggsReview Update

Pros: - Tons of inputs
- DVI connection looks amazing
- Optical output makes switching sound AND video a one-step process
- Remote is a welcome change for switching inputs, rather than using on-monitor buttons
- Grows on you if you give it a chance
- Component and HDMI look fairly good with some careful tweaking, though still inferior to DVI

Cons: - HDMI connection isn't what it should have been
- All inputs besides DVI require careful tweaking to make them look any good
- Even after tweaking, HDMI is still very sub-par

Other Thoughts: Sorry for the double review. After my initial outrage I decided to give this monitor another chance, and it's actually not as bad as I thought. It's still a let-down with it's inferior HDMI connection, but after some heavy tweaking, you can make the HDMI passable and eventually get used to how it looks. A few other things, such as the optical output and myriad of video inputs warrant at least a few eggs.

To sum up: If you're not an HD aficionado, this monitor may end up being a gift from the heavens, but if you're a tech-head that notices every little detail, I'd steer clear and wait for something better.

Remember: Research is you're greatest ally in the hunt for a good monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsComplete Disappointment

Pros: Tons of Inputs, Thats about it. HD TV over the airwaves looked nice.

Cons: Anything you try to hook up to this monitor will look horrible because of how cheap the inputs are on this thing. Video quality is absolute garbage; I hooked my 360 up to and instantly want to puke. Horrible ghosting, it looked like I was playing on a standard def TV even with the settings on 1080p. I tired to watch a blue ray on my ps3. Felt like I was watching a psp movie.

Other Thoughts: Dont waste your time or money on this horrible monitor. If i could give it a zero egg rating i would because of how horrible it really is.

1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE!!!

Pros: DVI connection looks great. Lots of connection ports, as long as you don't care about picture quality.

Cons: Any connection other than DVI is a JOKE. You'd think, like every other monitor, that HDMI would produce the same picture as DVI. Well with this monitor you would be dead wrong. Apparently the HDMI ports use different post-processing than the DVI, and it causes everything to be blurry, jagged, washed out or over-saturated. Whether it was my 360, PS3, or PC, anything connected to HDMI was an ugly mess. Take that same HDMI cable and hook it (via adapter) to the dvi port, and it's beautiful, crisp, and crystal-clear. Back to HDMI, back to disgusting mess. No amount of changing the settings fixed this problem, on either the monitor end or system end. What a complete let-down.

Composite also looks terrible. Hooked up my Wii, and it was blurry, over-saturated, and just BLEH. Don't have component for the Wii so i dunno how that looks.

Other Thoughts: I got this so i could hook up my PC, 360, PS3, Wii, Dreamcast, and digital cable all to one monitor. Would have been the best monitor I've ever owned if they hadn't messed with the HDMI signal processing.

Only buy this is you want to hook alot of stuff up, and don't care AT ALL about picture quality.

I own another LG, the W2353V, and it is fantastic.... How'd they screw the pooch so bad with the M237WD???

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor

Pros: Flat screen, HD, You can mount it on your wall, You can use it as your computer, tv, and game system viewer! Built in speakers. It saves so much space and is widescreen, with a built in tv tuner! Very easy to set up!

Cons: Its thin, but I wish it was thinner. The speakers are fine, but if you wanted music for a party don't count on it.

Other Thoughts: Just imagine if this was also multi touch screen with built in high end PC. Think of the all in one and ease of use and HUGE space saver!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Hooked up my Playstation 3 (PS3), basic cable, and computer all to this one monitor and just switch inputs whenever I want to use a different device. The ps3 via HDMI looks stunning, comp via HDMI is pretty good, and tv cable via coaxial looks good too. Speaker sounds are not amazing but its loud enough.

Cons: Not a con, but it is a TN panel meaning it does not have good viewing angles from the side. Only buy this if your using it straight on or computer monitor style.

Other Thoughts: Super fast shipping, ordered on a Wed night and got it Friday.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for consoles

Pros: Good selection of inputs, very flexible color settings and other configuration options (better than other HDTVs I have used), crisp display for computers also, good viewing angles (better than ordinary TN LCDs), looks nice on my Ergotron LX Wall Mount, speakers seem adequate (but I use headphones). Very nice configuration menu.

Cons: Only one component hookup (need a separate switcher for more), no SPDIF input (only output).

Other Thoughts: Have not hooked up an antenna for TV reception (I live in a mountain valley where I have no hope of getting a signal at all).
I have things hooked up as follows: HDMI1 - PS3, HDMI2 - a computer, DVI + audio - another computer, component - Xbox 360, composite - Wii.
Very happy with this TV, especially the viewing angles (much higher than the 22" LCD monitor it replaced) and number of inputs.
