5 out of 5 eggsI don't own this product.

Pros: Just a comment, referring to review below, PLEASE don't leave feedback if it is useless and misinforming.

Disliking a product you purchased that you KNEW was widescreen, then leaving feedback saying that you don't like it because it is such, then my friend you just shouldn't have bought it.

I have no idea whether this is a decent monitor or not, because your feedback serves only to tell me how you pine for the yesteryear, when 4:3 was the common monitor format.

Personally I love widescreen, many prefer 4:3, if you ask me I think some people just have trouble getting go, and are set in their ways, resistant to change even if for the better, but that is another discussion for another day.

Either way, all it tells is is that you aren't very intelligent, and prefer to whine about your personal issues with the marketplace than give a proper evaluation of this product.

Thank you for misinforming everyone, and wasting our time, I think it's time for Newegg to start screening re

Cons: Please someone who bought this leave legitimate feedback, and encourage others to do so. Us Newegger's take great pride in our feedback, as it is among the best of its kind. We value Newegg and its great electronic offerings, and I truly believe we are a community of a higher standard, let us encourage proper reviewing methods, and bring those of us who choose to make the review section their personal soapbox for venting their myriad frustrations with their inability to cope with existence in a healthy and progressive way to see the error and futility of such endeavors!

3 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for

Pros: Pretty nice image when you sit right in front of it, I like it a lot when I don't notice the flaws.

I bought this at a local mega outlet. Told the sales rep I was replacing a Samsung Syncmaster 204B that had provided a really nice image but failed as soon as the warranty expired. The 204B is no longer available (and also wasn't perfect but did have a really nice image).

The sales rep said he owned both monitors (204B and W2340) and suggested that this would be the closest match in view-ability for less than $300.

At first I agreed, A nice image, good light distribution, Flat (matte) rather than glossy screen.

Cons: As time has gone on I have started to notice what I have heard called a "screen door" or "newsprint" effect. Some types of imagery or viewing angles cause shadows and gradients in particular to appear as though you are looking at them through a fine mesh.

I asked my wife if she noticed it , it took her more than 5 minutes to notice the effect. Once I noticed this effect I couldn't help being distracted by it. Depending on your usage (Watching movies, full screen slideshows or black text on white) you may never notice it.

Other Cons:
Widescreen format, when can we start getting some nice 4:3 monitors that don't cost an arm and a leg again?

Limited acceptable vertical viewing angles, a common lcd issue.

Glossy stupid looking bezel, give me a 1/2" matte black bezel any day, the frame should not distract you from the image

Flimsy lightweight base, very little tilt adjustment.
Did I mention Widescreen?

Other Thoughts: I feel bad giving this monitor a harsh review, most people will probably never notice the problems, but I wouldn't recommend it to an artist or someone with picky eyes. 90% of the time it is really nice, and I don't feel bad about it for the price. I paid a 3 star price and got a 3 star monitor.

When you spend as much time in front of a monitor as I do, little things start to bug you. I'm sure my wife will be quite happy with this monitor when I find a replacement.

I've owned this monitor for 2 months approximately and I came to NewEgg today because I finally can't take it any more. I am looking to replace it, preferrably with a 4:3 ratio (1600x1200) and around. Wish me luck
