2 out of 5 eggsdead after 6 months

Pros: From the moment I plugged it in and tweaked some settings, it had excellent display and I was very happy in general. Resolution was perfect and it worked as well as I expected.

Cons: 6 months later, it quit working correctly. When I unplugged it from everything except the power source, there was a hazy black background with a cloudy white haze along the edges of the screen and a solid vertical white line from top to bottom of the screen. A little more than I had originally allocated in my budget, especially for just a monitor (no TV features).

Other Thoughts: I contacted LG about the issue and they were more than happy to exchange it out for a new one. Although I expect to have occasional problems such as this, especially with electronics, it is still quite annoying. I think companies need to get back to focusing on quality over quantity.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TN display

Pros: Great display
Good colors
Lightweight for size
Best TN I have seen
Good viewing angles for a TN

Cons: Control buttons a little cheap
Finish isn't as nice as other monitors (but I don't care about that)
No speakers (again, don't care)
No Display Port (doesn't matter at 1920 x 1080)

Other Thoughts: I bought a 27 Inch Asus which is Awesome but the viewing angles seemed to annoy me a little. The Asus had great finish, had all the ports you can imagine and a built in camera. But I kept looking at this monitor given it's interesting viewing angles and finally bought it because I use MAC OSX and the Built in camera was useless to me on the ASUS. I sat them beside each other and compared different screens. This TN is definitely nicer for ME. I don't know if it's that way for everyone else and you pay a little more but given I spend a lot of time on monitors and don't want to spend for a 900 dollar IPS cinema display - this was the monitor for me!

5 out of 5 eggsBest TN Panel Ever

Pros: Really big, light, thin, emits no heat, matte screen, colors are vibrant, no dead pixels, no setting changes were necessary, and I'm running Heaven DX11 2.5 benchmark with a 590 gtx at 88 fps -- I think I need a tissue. Beautiful gaming monitor.

Cons: Price point is rather high for a tn.

Other Thoughts: I was skeptical that this monitor would be enough to compliment my dream gaming rig. It's perfect, could not be happier.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Nice!

Pros: DVI, VGA, and 2 x HDMI. Remote control included w/battery. No dead or wonky pixels on mine. NOT glossy. Easy to unpack and put together.

Cons: Brightness is at maximum out of the box. I had to crank it way below 50 percent, and I may ave to reduce further.

Other Thoughts: This is actually for my Core i7 box that I am building this weekend, but I hooked it up on my dual core box for the moment. I have had 4 flat panels, and only the very first one had 1 wonky pixel. The other 3 have been perfect. I have been super lucky in this regard. (My first one was a generic 15 inch analog only.)

Use the remote control to adjust the brightness and for input selection!!!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat LCD

Pros: We recently announced details of a forthcoming 27” model from LG, their E2770V. At the time the information from LG suggested this was an IPS panel, but recent developments have led to a lot of confusion as to what technology is actually being used, with the possibility emerging that this is in fact a TN Film panel. It’s an interesting topic and I thought it would be useful to summarise the varying arguments here. We are also trying to clarify with LG once and for all so will report back when we know more.

Arguments for IPS Panel

The LG USA spec states a 14ms response time which is a classic modern day e-IPS response time for panels without overdrive (e.g. NEC EA232WMi and EA231WMi). If it were a TN Film panel then it would surely have a low 5ms response time at least, even without RTC technology being used?

The viewing angles quoted of 178/168 are odd, but are more IPS than they are TN Film

LG's PDF spec sheet from their USA site mentions IPS in the description

It is th

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsNot IPS or 120 Hz FYI

Pros: - Probably the best TN panel out there
- Good viewing angles
- Good colors and contrast ratio
- Fairly good price

Cons: - Not IPS
- Was falsely advertised as an IPS panel. Newegg fixed it but LG denies that it was advertised as an IPS panel now.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to clear up the confusion on this monitor since when it initially came out Newegg and LG advertised it as an IPS panel. 5/5 stars if it wasn't falsely advertised.

Overclockers has a great thread on this product. Look there for more information.

5 out of 5 eggsIPS PANEL?

Pros: So I bought the acer 27" after reading the great reviews, and I'm not a full on graphics design artist, but the color reproduction left something to be desired. For some reason, no matter how I adjusted things, the colors always looked washed out and unnatural. Now in terms of this monitor, I wouldn't know If I would believe that it is an ips panel, but the viewing angles are definitely better than the acer. The colors appear more natural. I tried playing starcraft 2 and crysis 2 on max res, and it seems the 14ms response isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's very smooth with almost no ghosting and the overall feel is very impressive. If I were to rate this monitor a 9 out of 10, I would probably give the acer a 7. For the money spent out of pocket, even if it isn't really a hardcore ips 120hz monitor, which I don't think is even physically possible for this price, I would definitely recommend it. The monitor is also very sleek and slimline.

Cons: The base on this thing is huge!! I sit really close to the monitor, because I like it to feel bigger. I will probably wall mount it later, but the base is almost as wide as my keyboard, and my gaming mousepad gets pushed out of the way. I wish this thing had a display port even though I'd probably never use it, and the build quality of the frame seems cheap/stand feels like cheap plastic.

Other Thoughts: The only way you'll get a better visual experience is probably if you go with the doublesight or the dell ips which also means spending 2x the money. Worth it? I don't know. I'm cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsLG may have misinformed you

Pros: Looks great, works fine, no dead pixels, stand is stable enough, weighs only 11 pounds, generates almost no heat.

Cons: Beware the Overview: this is NOT a 120 Hz refresh panel. (TruMotion? WHERE?) It is 60 Hz with some sort of LG gimmick called "Thru Mode" that supposedly reduces motion ghosting. Whatever...but it is still 60 Hz.

Other Thoughts: I'm not even sure I believe that this is an IPS panel (as stated in the overview). LG's own website is maddeningly ambiguous about the specs of this monitor (LG cites "Panel Type: TBD" HOW DARE THEY! THIS THING IS ALREADY ON THE MARKET!). Even the documentation that comes with the monitor conveniently omits any mention of the panel type. Although the monitor works just fine, I feel mis-led by the features list in the overview. Probably not NewEgg's fault though; it's LG's ambiguous marketing info. Still trying to decide whether I'm going to keep it, just because of this.
