4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive for IPS panel
Good color rendition

Cons: 3D is very angle dependent

Other Thoughts: Chromatic aberration when prescription glasses are worn exposes very faint horizontal lines from the polarization filter used for 3D and the viewer is looking head on. This is easily proven by tilting ones head to the side then looking back with a straight neck. A limitation of the panel technology being polarized.

3 out of 5 eggsVERY pretty and VERY expensive

Pros: The image is incredibly clear and crisp. The 3-d image is is just as good.
Passive 3-d so I can wear the light-weight clip-ons that came with.

Cons: Had to adjust the overscan settings before it would show 3-d images. Spent several days building on huge headache before I figured it out. Unfortunately, I had already resold it to a friend by then.

Games are still very limited; especially for passive 3-d. For some reason makers think nvidia's active 3-d is the best, even for those who wear corrective lenses already.

Other Thoughts: A very nice display once it is configured properly.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Work Great If Only Used For 3D Movies

Pros: I tested with 3d movies sample file, work great just like movie theater 3d effect is came out the same as theater. You need powerdvd 12 or tridef 3d software to play back 3d movie.

Cons: I really recommended this monitor if you want save money without going to 3d movies at theater.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Happy Stereo 3D Enthusiast! - Update 6/2/2012

Pros: This is an update to my 5/20/2012 review - Newegg, Please add an Update button for the Reviews. After living and tweaking this LG 3D monitor for almost a month, I can still report I Love this Monitor! I use this monitor for watching my 2D DVD's from my PC with the TriDef 2D-3D Media Player software - works Great if you don't set the 3D settings to their extreme (otherwise you'll get fatigued). This monitor is really geared for 3D and 2D Video Viewing - computer monitor usage is Only Secondary. I expressly purchased this monitor with 3D and 2D movie viewing in mind. Also works Great for viewing 3D photos I shot (I use Stereo Photo Maker software to make .jps files from jpg's from my twin digital camera setup - I like using twin cameras better than the current 3D digital cameras out there).

Cons: 1 - I believe the statement "Crossover Free" is False Advertising in general for Either Active or Passive 3D Methods - No One can claim the "100% Ghost Free" statement. There can still be some ghosting, even on this LG monitor, BUT it's an Easy Fix- see Other Thoughts. 2 - HDMI 1.4 jack is vertically mounted pointing downward - needed a locking HDMI 1.4 "pigtail" cable for securing the HDMI connection and long-term port protection, BUT it's an Easy Fix- see Other Thoughts."pigtail" cable). 3- the included LG 3D glasses are only OK in performance - the Real D 3D glasses from the movie theater are also only OK in performance - 3D cross-talking is noticeable depending upon the scene (some are pretty bad - extreme TriDef settings can Make 3D pretty bad, too) - see Other Thoughts.

Other Thoughts: 1 - Viewed the monitor with different sources - DirecTV 3D channels & DVR; Sony Playstation3; 2D DVD's through PC with TriDef software; and Finally a new Panasonic DMP-BDT320 BluRay-3D Player (Another Great 3D Choice!) - works great with All sources so far! Best viewing is with the DirecTV box and the Panasonic BR-3D player. Using a 30 Ft , 24AWG SF HiSpeed HDMI cable - good for DirecTV which is set far away from LG monitor - no good for 3D signal from Sony Playstation3 (HDMI org hints that ~ 25 Ft is the limit for a passive HDMI cable - you'll need an amp or optical converter for longer runs). 2 -- To protect the LG's HDMI port and ensure a stable HDMI connection, I recommend building your own 1 Ft. "pigtail" (I used an Accell AVGrip Pro Locking HiSpeed HDMI Cable and an RCA DHHDMIR HDMI 1.4 Extender - since no one makes a Locking Hi-Speed HDMI "pigtail" so far). 3 - Upgrade to Polaroid Eyewear 3D glasses - Cross-talking Eliminated in most scenes - Way Reduced in bad 3D scenes!

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Happy Stereo 3D Enthusiast!

Pros: 1. FATIGUE-FREE Hi-Res 3D @ Half the price of nVidia's nVision setup!
2.Very Bright display even in 3D - easily more than compensates for the slight green tint of circularly polarized 3D glasses during bright daylight usage (my LG is near a Northern exposure window at an angle).
3.The glasses are CHEAP (FREE) and COMMON. I use the RealD 3D glasses from 3D movies I obtain from the theater (currently own 6 pairs accumulated over time) - $0 x 6 pairs vs. ~$90 x 6 pair of Shutter Glasses.
4.Works Decently as a standard monitor.
5.Very affordable against any monitor.
6.Very thin and light (Half the weight of a 6 year-old 4:3 LCD Panel Monitor I own and replaced with this LG).
7. Works with different HDMI 1.4a Video Sources for Stereo 3D - Tested Great with DirecTV and Sony PlayStation3 3D, HD content, and Blu-Ray content.
8. Cheapest way to get an Immersive 3D Experience short of IMAX 3D - Much More Enjoyable than sitting too far away in a crowded standard Stereo 3D theater!

Cons: 1. 1920 x 1080 Resolution as a 2D monitor is decent, but is below that of dedicated 2D monitors when it comes to handling text.
2. Alert For LG - This monitor can REALLY benefit from the addition of a SPDIF audio optical output !!
3. Minor - Faint "screen door" lines are visible with regular computing use, However that Disappears when viewing Hi-Res 1080 Stereo 3D. For me, this CRT-like "screen door" effect is a very Minor distraction. It's actually reminiscent of an older CRT monitor (an NEC 21" FE1250+ CRT which I still own and use occasionally).
4. Minor ergonomic issue - control buttons should have a little white raised "bump" mark or low-light LED lit for easier finding -- sometimes buttons get lost when viewing any image in a darkened room at night.
5. Older hobbyist market HQFS 3D DVDs do NOT work with the TriDef software, BUT does work great with 3dtv.at's Stereoscopic Player set on "Row Interlace, Left Line Top" if NOT copy-protected.
6. Hey, LG! - Offer Larger FPR3D S

Other Thoughts: I've been a 3D hobbyist since the mid-1980's and I'll tell you - I've been watching and waiting a LONG time for a product of this high caliber to show up!! IF your *Primary Objective* is to use this LG monitor as a Multi-Source HDMI 1.4a Stereo 3D Monitor, then You REALLY MUST BUY this monitor! If you need to view Stereo 3D for Long Periods (Movies or for Work) and Need to Avoid Fatigue, then You REALLY MUST BUY this monitor!
Viewing IMAX 3D videos on DirectTV's 1080p 3D Channels was startlingly and vividly beautiful!
Ditto for viewing Blu-Ray 3D's! Recommend HARDWARE solutions (Dedicated 3D Blu-Ray Player) for Reliable Blu-Ray 3D playback! NOT worth the hassle and expense of building a 3D PC ($100's), when a Working Blu-Ray 3D Player only costs $150 or Less!
You can even create and enjoy your own 3D interlaced 3D photos using Stereo Photo Maker.
Received, set-up, and tested beginning 5/18/2012. Will update post with any new developments - Positive or Negative

5 out of 5 eggsThe LG D2342P-PN is Awesome!

Pros: 1.3D at under half the price of the nVidia nVision setup.
2.Very bright display even in 3D.
3.The glasses are cheep. (FREE) I kept the glasses from 3D movies I have seen in the theater.
4.It also works as a standard monitor.
5.Very affordable against any monitor.
6.Very thin and light.
7. Through the help of sourceforge.net/projects/gldirect/ I got this to work on some older opengl games. Star Wars Jedi Outcast/Academy.

Cons: OK, you can probably find a 2D monitor that looks better, but who cares I want 3D and this monitor look very good in 2D. Besides it cost the same as most 2D monitors. It's a win, win, win situation.

Other Thoughts: Just buy it. If your cheep like me and want awesome 3D gaming GET IT!

5 out of 5 eggsLG 3D passive monitor

Pros: Cheaper, easier on the eyes, more than 1 person can view movie/games at a time.

Cons: Required 3rd party software either by PowerDVD or Arcsoft, ect. general price for any of these is around 100.00. They do provide good user interface and adjusting is pretty easy to understand. There are some bugs that will get worked out over time. But in general, no real cons. This is a good buy.

Other Thoughts: The glasses that come with the monitor do the job, but if you are looking for the high end quality viewing I suggest the Oakley 3D passive glasses and Gunner Panoramic passive 3D. Very impressed with both pairs of these 3D glasses.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: N/a

Cons: 3d Does not work at all on this monitor. A 1080 monitor not advertised as 3D would have been cheaper.

3 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware - LG Shipping Wrong Glasses

Pros: •Good 2D Image Quality (for a TN panel)
•Low price for a 3D monitor
•The bundled with the DDD/Tridef software, which depending on the game, works better or worse than 3D Vision
•Can be used with nVidia 3D vision if you use an EDID override driver
•When working well (with the CORRECT GLASSES*), the 3D image quality is superb.
•Supports 3D over DVI and HDMI(Bluray, PS3)
•LG was quick to issue an RMA#

Cons: •The wrong glasses were included with this monitor, and LG ignores the problem
-The glasses I (and many others have received) are the wrong glasses. They are polarized 45 degrees off what they should be. This results in purple ghosting at any level of separation or depth. Turn the lens 45 degrees, and the ghosting disappears. The correct glasses are P/N FPG-2000. These are not what I received.
•The base is somewhat "flimsy", although it was perfectly acceptable for the price point.

Other Thoughts: I contacted LG about this, and was told "all our glasses are the same". This is simply not true. People have received the monitor with correct glasses, and the issue does not exist. I was told to "hard reset" the monitor, etc, but none of that can fix a physical polarizer misalignment. After pointing out several threads on AVS forums and mtbs3d to the support chat person, I was told to RMA the monitor. However, everyone who has RMA'ed the monitor (that I know of) received the same monitor and incorrect glasses combo.

You CAN however purchase Zalman ZM-SG100G, and they work correctly. Buyer beware. I am now out an additional $45 dollars for two pairs of correct glasses. I don't want an RMA LG - I want the right glasses!

I most likely will not RMA the monitor, as I am told LG is ignoring the issue. I have ordered two pairs of Zalman ZM-SG100G glasses.

I encourage everyone to search for "lg purple ghosting", and read user experiences.
