The IPS224T-PN LG combines the wide viewing capabilities of In Plane Switching (IPS) technology with the superior picture quality of LED backlighting. So it is an advanced display that produces precise and vivid colors with spot on detail even from different viewing angles. Full HD is taken to new heights with exceptional contrast ratios and brightness levels that bring out subtle color differences as well as the deepest and the most difficult shades of black.

It also seeks to be an environmentally friendlier product earning the highest EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Gold rating.

Consuming less power than the previous LCD models, LED technology also limits the amount of halogen or mercury used to manufacture each unit.

  • newegg IPS Panel The LG IPS224T-PN has a super viewing angle of 178 degree. It provides consistent color tone and response time throughout the screen, precise color matching with the original image in reality.
  • newegg LED Backlight Featuring the LED backlight technology, the LG IPS224T-PN provides increased brightness, enhanced color saturation with less power consumption, minimizes eye fatigue and is more eco-friendly to the environment containing no mercury. LED backlighting also reduces the number and overall size of components for an exceptionally thin monitor.
  • newegg Superior image quality The LG IPS224T-PN features Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, expressive 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 250 cd/m2 brightness for lifelike image.
  • newegg EPEAT Gold EPEAT is helping transform the marketplace for green computer products, and the LG IPS224T-PN is one of them which meet the required criteria.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper nice

Pros: Excellent view from any angle. Bright and clear. Thin, light.

Cons: Does not issue currency.

Other Thoughts: Was very easy to set up in no time, fitting easily on my monitor arm with the Vesa holes the monitor has in the back. It's really lightweight and thin, yet the image is crisp and clear and there is no evident angle of view degradation due to the IPS panel. A good buy at the price I got it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: This monitor is awesome! At first the 14ms GTG time scared me, but I dont even notice it. I came from a 23" Asus 2ms LCD monitor. I bought two of these to use for trading, photoshop, VMware control, excel sheets, and light gaming. It seemed to keep up on Battlefield and Counterstrike. The color on these makes it totally worth it. I will add a third or fourth in the near future.

Cons: No HDMI (this is fine as there are no speakers, but it would be nice to not have to use an adapter for dual monitors) They could include a DVI cable instead of the old analog cables. People complain about the stand, but if these sit on a desk that is sturdy, there is no shake. If your desk shakes enough to wobble these, you may need a new desk. Also, some guy complained that the LED light is too bright and stays on all the time, there is an option in the menu to shut that off.

Other Thoughts: Perfect multi monitor setup!

5 out of 5 eggsBest picture i have seen

Pros: The best picture I have seen in a long time clear and crisp.

Cons: Like many other have said no DVI cable. My question is why no DVI cable on a DVI monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems fine

Pros: Good bang for the buck. The stand seems OK to me but I only had a short period of time to try it (had to pack it back up - it's a Christmas present).
Controls for the menus will take time to get used to.
I thought I saw an option to turn the red power light off (I think another guy is complaining about it).
Colors seem good, similar to my HP LP2065 (IPS panel and a more sane/useful 4x3 aspect ratio and 1600x1200).

Cons: Took me awhile to figure out how to disconnect the neck of the stand. The base is seperate from the neck, and when I googled how to take it apart so it would fit into the box, all sorts of old threads come up stating LG monitors' neck do not release unless you take the panel apart. However, I eventually found a "button" to press and release the neck (whew). This ought to be covered in the manual for people who later decide to use the VESA mount instead of the stand.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully I can update this review after I use it more.

5 out of 5 eggsBest IPS Monitor for the price

Pros: Stunning quality picture, IPS LED monitor, & the price is just right!

*Amazing picture quality with IPS Technology.
*Looks as good as the semi-expensive IPS screens.
*Very light and easy on the eyes.
*Did I mention an AMAZING Price for the IPS Monitor?
*No dead pixels on my end. :)

Cons: *No DVI cable. Not really worth taking an egg off but in this day and age most people would prefer a DVI cable instead of a VGA that came included.
*Monitor on the stand is a bit wobbly if your desk moves.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself during December 2012. I was skepitcal about buying a 14ms monitor but it is perfectly fine for gaming. I notice no ghosting or blur effects. I bought this monitor for $130; it was worth every penny. Monitor was perfect, no dead pixels at all. Inside the Package includes a VGA cable, Power Cable, Quick start guide, & a Driver CD.
If you can find this monitor at a good price, it is definitely worth it!

3 out of 5 eggsNot as good as an iMac

Pros: HD movie trailers look great. Excellent price.

Cons: White document backgrounds look like they're sitting behind a sparkly layer, perhaps the matte? Not as clear or close to the surface as my 2011 iMac.

Slick, non-textured plastic borders look cheap. Gaudy IPS LED feature sticker is very difficult to remove. Ugly stand shape. No DVI cable included.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome monitor, but that is all that is in the box.

Pros: Out of the box the monitor looks great. Very slim and looks AMAZING next to my two 4 year old E228WFP Dell screens. Comes with a cable, albeit a short VGA cable.

Cons: Should have a DVI cable in the box. Who exclusively uses VGA anymore? Screws didn't come with it, so I had to hunt down some so I could use my VESA mount for it. The included stand looks flimsy, though I won't be using it. The [red] power light is too bright, and BLINKS when there is no signal (e.g., your computer is off or on standby), which is annoying. The power brick (wall wart)'s cable is just a tad too short. It should at least take the standard PC power plug instead of going into the wall itself, so i can lengthen it if needed.

Other Thoughts: The panel itself is great. LG obviously skimped on everything else to get the price point down. How much does a DVI cable cost, honestly?

As much as I hate the monitor's shortcomings, I am honestly thinking of replacing the two older Dell screens with these too.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Picture quality, Slim design, Cost, Size, and Overall appearance

Cons: Stand

Other Thoughts: I have only owned and used this monitor for around six hours now so I could change my mind, but for right now this is my opinion. As soon as I plugged the monitor up and powered up the PC it automatically started adjusting itself for the right setup. The picture quality from what I have seen thus far has been really very impressive. Very thin slim design. Overall appearance of the monitor is just beautiful. Here is the bad. The stand. Unless you have a very sturdy heavy desk, the slightest bump will lead to the screen shaking. Just doesn't support the screen very well. Other than that I am very satisfied.
