LED, SUPER ENERGY SAVING, IPS PANEL

The IPS234T-PN LG combines the wide viewing capabilities of In Plane Switching (IPS) technology with the superior picture quality of LED backlighting. So it is an advanced display that produces precise and vivid colors with spot on detail even from different viewing angles. Full HD is taken to new heights with exceptional contrast ratios and brightness levels that bring out subtle color differences as well as the deepest and the most difficult shades of black.

It also seeks to be an environmentally friendlier product earning the highest EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Gold rating.

Consuming less power than the previous LCD models, LED technology also limits the amount of halogen or mercury used to manufacture each unit.

  • newegg IPS Panel The LG IPS234T-PN has a super viewing angle of 178 degree. It provides consistent color tone and response time throughout the screen, precise color matching with the original image in reality.
  • newegg LED Backlight Featuring the LED backlight technology, the LG IPS234T-PN provides increased brightness, enhanced color saturation with less power consumption, minimizes eye fatigue and is more eco-friendly to the environment containing no mercury. LED backlighting also reduces the number and overall size of components for an exceptionally thin monitor.
  • newegg Superior image quality The LG IPS234T-PN features Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, expressive 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 250 cd/m2 brightness for lifelike image.
  • newegg EPEAT Gold EPEAT is helping transform the marketplace for green computer products, and the LG IPS234T-PN is one of them which meet the required criteria.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: I got this on sale, $119 or $129 w/Free Shipping I think? and at that price, it is a steal. Great size, clarity is awesome, I have noticed no ghosting clarity is definitely a step above traditional TFT displays.

Cons: Doesn't ever tell you how many trees you saved in power saving mode. Seriously, it doesn't, and it's the only (unimportant) con.

4 out of 5 eggsWow!

Pros: This monitor is wonderful. Black are incredibly deep, whites are extremely crisp. Color is perfectly vivid and seemingly accurate. IPS panel is absolutely wonderful! The viewing angle is incredible!!!! You can literally look at the screen from almost directly above and see it just as clearly as if viewed from straight on, with the expected contortions from looking at such an extreme viewing angle.
With the LED backlight, light is very consistent from edge-to-edge.

Cons: Minus half an egg for the weird super crazy energy saving mode that puts the backlight at like 1% sometimes when it wakes from being suspended.

Minus the other half for having a wobbly stand that doesn't swivel.

5 out of 5 eggsGood deal

Pros: Great Monitor. Bright, Crisp, Clear. Incredible buy for the money and it includes vesa screw mounts in the back. Plan on buying a second monitor and monitor mount and using dual monitor setup.

Cons: OSD a little hard to setup. Use the custom mode or the Text mode for best display setup.

Other Thoughts: Picked it up on sale for 139.00 shipped. Totally worth the price.

4 out of 5 eggsNice but no HDMI

Pros: Good image quality. I also have the LG E2370V which is a "gamer" monitor because there's zero lag. Comparable image quality at a much cheaper price.

Cons: There's no HDMI. Of all the things to cut down on, they took out the HDMI connector. Makes connecting to newer laptops a pain.

Also, the stand is very wobbly. Regular typing will wobble the screen. I never had this problem with other LG monitors or any monitor.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bright screen with excellent colors (LED backlights are great). Very slim and lightweight.

Cons: No DVI cable included. Fortunately, I already had one lying around.

Other Thoughts: This is the monitor you're looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsIPS is a step up for sure

Pros: Very vibrant screen - w/ IPS I don't struggle so much to find the right balance of contrast / brightness and colors. It just looks good without a whole lot of adjustment.

Cons: Waiting for it to go on sale again to pick up another one to match for multi-monitor use.

4 out of 5 eggsCrisp, bright, fantastic, and weird

Pros: Movies look awesome on it

Photoshop looks and feels better

DVI to HDMI adapter worked fine with it

Incredibly thin

Cons: Doesn't come with a DVI cable. Definitely a consideration if other monitors are close in the price range

I feel weird looking at this screen. I wonder if the LEDs flicker at some rate

This monitor has no speakers or sound output

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale and it's my first IPS monitor. The picture is fantastic, but I feel weird looking at it. For movies, it looks amazing. For Photoshop, it made everything pop.

For general PC, it feels strange. I feel a little woozy (note that I do get motion sick). It might have been f.lux

If it ends up that I don't like looking that this all of the time, I'll probably use this as a secondary or tertiary monitor. The movies look that good on it, and I do occasionally use Photoshop

Monitor speakers usually don't sound good, anyways

5 out of 5 eggsBright, wonderful, and crisp

Pros: The picture is sharp and fantastic. The LED back-lighting is bright, and the picture is crisp. This is a very nice-looking monitor. It's incredibly thin

Cons: No DVI cable. Also, it feels so strange as a screen.

Other Thoughts: This screen is fantastic, but

The DVI cable can add $5-10 in cost, and you can get those at newegg. The same goes for an HDMI cable. That's definitely a consideration when buying this monitor

I do get motion sick. I do feel weird looking at the screen, and not sure if I'll adjust to it.
