5 out of 5 eggsGreat Screen

Pros: So I bought this for the better color range and resolution and it has delivered! Its super thin even compared to other LCDs. I work with photos and out of the box it looked better then my previous LG. It didn"t need calibrating either, it was already accurate. The refresh rate is still fast enough for movies and gaming (CS:GO, Dota 2, CoD, DayZ) but you lose a little fps for a much better experience and I would argue accuracy as well.

Cons: Yeah it costs a lot!, but for the money I can't think of a better upgrade you could do for a computer. The stand is big I realize it has to be but it could be smaller. I would get a vesa mount. If I had to nit pick after eight hours you can see a slight glow toward the top but only on a black screen. Any other computer you use is going to look like a dirty cellphone screen after this.

Other Thoughts: You can watch several games at once if you're a sports fan. If you are watching standard definition video on full screen it looks awful though, it can't upscale to WQHD very well. If you work with photos, videos, or gaming I would highly recommend this screen. Eleven months later and it still looks great.

5 out of 5 eggsWickedly Vivid!

Pros: I have two side-by-side. Gorgeous colors and sharpness. Brilliantly bright, Well constructed stand. If I could afford it, I would change every monitor on all my computers to these.
I am replacing two 5 year old Eizo LCDs (24" & 22"). They are essentially dim compared to these LGs. When they were new, they were never this bright.

Cons: I had a bad DVI cable for which I had to RMA the whole package. It happens.

Other Thoughts: Use the best Dual DVI or DP cables you can with this monitor. It makes a difference.

Asus GeoForce GTX 770 video card.

5 out of 5 eggsJust About Perfect....

Pros: QHD resolution is a vast improvement from the 17" SXGA that I've been using for almost a decade. 10-bit RGB color accuracy is excellent. 27" is a perfect size for 1440p, as I find the pixel granularity of 1080p to be bothersome above a 24" format. Matte screen finish is perfect for rooms with ample natural light and/or reflections. Wide viewing angles on this IPS far surpass TN/LCD.

At 350cd/m2, this panel is quite spare my retinas, I brought the brightness down to 40%, which had the added bonus of bringing power consumption (measured via Kill-A-Watt) down from 60W@100% to ca. 38W@40%.

Cons: I've encountered serious issues on occasion when trying to "wake" devices [attached to this monitor] from a sleep state. If the monitor is not turned off before the device connected to it enters a sleep or hibernation state (as my power profile is set to), the monitor will not recognize the signal once the desktop is powered on.
I've found one either needs to switch out to DVI to get the display back, or just power cycle the desktop and monitor. It's happened a few times and it certainly is annoying when you are in the middle of something important.

This issue doesn't occur in any form when using DVI, nor does it occur if, when using DisplayPort, the monitor is powered off ahead of the devices connected to it [entering a sleep state].

I am driving the monitor with a 6570, which I took to be the initial culprit, however after further research, this problem is well-documented in many different graphics cards, specifically due to the design of DisplayPort's native connector pinout.
As such, I can't in good conscience hold this against an otherwise great monitor....DP standards/implementation are outside of LG's control, as a monitor of this caliber lacking DisplayPort connectivity would rightly have been criticized for its omission. I continue to use DisplayPort with a tweaked power profile, and, as long as one is mindful to turn off the monitor before any other connected devices, I haven't had a problem since.

Other Thoughts: Teething issues aside, I'm quite impressed. I'd certainly buy it again.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: I picked up two of these monitors during a sale newegg had a while back. I'm not sure it's possible to beat build quality and color quality of these monitors for the price I got them at. I'm a programmer, so I don't necessarily use these monitors for graphic design or photography. I was immediately able to tell the difference, however, when watching movies, playing games, or even simply editing highlighted text. The 2560x1440 resolution, the accurate colors, and the brightness makes these monitors truly shine.

The bases also have a very strong grip to my desk, so they don't move around. The ability to turn the monitor into a portrait aspect ratio is *extremely* convenient as a programmer. I'll sometimes pull up large bodies of text, PDFs, or documentation in portrait mode.

Cons: Plugging in the USB to my computer causes the monitors to emit an somewhat audible high pitched sound when they're asleep. This sound normally wouldn't bother me, but it is burdensome when trying to sleep (they're in close proximity to my bed). My solution was simply to not use the USB ports on these monitors. That's okay though, as I bought these for their display quality rather than USB support.

Don't even try to use the touch controls in a dark room. It's a recipe for failure.

Other Thoughts: I'm using a 2013 Retina MacBook Pro 15" to drive these monitors. I'd recommend buying Mini Displayport to Displayport cables, as the cables are "small" and can run the monitors at full resolution. The monitors are also auto-detected by my computer when they're turned on, which is kind of nice. I didn't notice this behavior when using Mini DisplayPort to DVI converters.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Sharp Colors, high resolution, hardly noticeable ghosting while gaming.

Cons: Shipped with a stuck red pixel

Other Thoughts: Overall I am pretty happy with this monitor, not really a downside to the monitor but if using display port and windows 7... turning off the monitor disconnects the device. Forcing windows to rearrange themselves in a multi monitor setup

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor, bad shipping

Pros: This monitor has huge bang for the buck. It out performs the high end NEC monitors and it's nice to see more companies make pro monitors.

Cons: Newegg's shipping, the basically slap a label on the side and then send it out, the problem is if the box dents anywhere on one side, it pushes against the panel. When you turn on the monitor it will have lighter spots (light bleed) that directly represents the damage to box.

5 out of 5 eggsGlad I picked this LG

Pros: Very bright. Great color accuracy.
Comes pre-calibrated with a calibration report.
8bit + frc makes images very vibrant.
Anti-glare coating actually works pretty well.

Cons: not brushed aluminum casing.
The stand could be a little more solid.
Some ppl might not like the fact 8bit+frc cause image to oversaturate, but monitor has a sRGB mode.

Other Thoughts: It's not true 10bit as others pointed out, it's actually 8bit + frc.
I had a Samsung S27B970D before. I returned the samsung within 2weeks due to deadpixel, and got this LG instead b/c they had no more samsungs in stock. compared to the samsung, though the exterior isn't nearly as elegant, but I find the display much better and more verstile. I think this LG is a better buy than the S27B970D.
