3 out of 5 eggs5 stars for the monitor, 1 star for the touchscreen.

Pros: This is the nicest looking monitor I've ever owned, very easy on the eyes. Everything looks so clear and crisp. Better for movies than a lot of TVs I've owned, and it's just as good at rendering text. Other monitors I've owned are only good for reading, or for gaming/movies, but this one is great for both.

Cons: The touchscreen has increasingly malfunctioned, and cleaning the monitor doesn't seem to help. When I first got the monitor, it worked okay until this weird area in the upper left corner of the monitor began acting like it was being pressed. I was able to reset it by unplugging and reinserting the USB on the back of the monitor. Eventually, resetting it this way worked for shorter and shorter periods of time, until now I have to leave the touchscreen cable completely unplugged at all times if I don't want applications randomly closing or being launched.

Other Thoughts: LG has been making TVs and monitors for a long time, and it shows. But they clearly don't know the first thing about making touchscreens. I would have sent it back if it weren't such a great monitor. I couldn't stand the thought of having to use one of my other monitors while this one was being replaced. So, I'll just settle for having a touchscreen on my Surface Pro, and keep using a mouse on my desktop for the time being. I guess it will be a while before the manufacturers figure out how to make working touchscreens. Sigh.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Affordable Touchscreen

Pros: No transition on the bezel to screen. This means that when swiping to get the menus on windows 8 you have a nice easy smooth transition.

Great Picture Quality.

Great Touch Response

Cons: The menu buttons for the monitor (power, input, adjust settings) are on the front on the bezel. So it is possible to accidentally press them when working toward the bottom of the screen (they should be hard buttons on the side).

Does NOT come with an HDMI cable. This dumbfounded me as this is a 1080p monitor that cause just south of $500 and they send you a VGA cable, really.....

Other Thoughts: This monitor is being used on a Windows 8 computer for my grandma. She absolutely loves it. Easy to use, touch works great. Just plug it in and it works.

5 out of 5 eggsUse Upside Down for Best Touch

Pros: Phenomenal color, clarity and touch response

Cons: Stand designed primarily for upright use as a traditional monitor

Other Thoughts: As others have noted, this LG multipoint touchscreen display is outstanding. It’s a pleasure to use. The display stand is, however, oddly limited for such an advanced touch device. Used in the default upright position, the monitor is in an uncomfortable position for touch gestures IMO. To get the most functionality, I have turned the stand and laid it on its back. In that configuration, the monitor extends about five inches below the front edge of my desk. The monitor is now at about a 30 degree angle just above my lap. I had to set the display panel to rotate the image 180 degrees since the monitor is now upside down and I added a counterweight to the base to keep the monitor from tipping off my desk. The improved ergonomics was worth the trouble. It feels very natural in relation to my arms and hands in this position.

I have the LG 23ET83 display connected to a Win 8 PC used mainly for illustration and design. The touch functions play well in concert with my Wacom Intuos tablet. When I move the stylus away from the tablet, the monitor’s touch functions are enabled. Touch is disabled when the pen is on the tablet. (The monitor itself does not respond to a stylus.) I like this setup using the big LG 23ET83 in combination with a graphics tablet much more than my old 12-inch pen input monitor. The LG/tablet setup is also about three grand less expensive and nearly as satisfying as the newest 24-inch touch/pen input monitor.

Regarding the warranty, Newegg's details tab states three years for this monitor. The warranty in the package, however, is for only one year.

4 out of 5 eggsGood IPS Touch Screen

Pros: This is a great IPS panel. As a display alone, this screen will impress once it is calibrated. The colors are true-to-life and you will be surprised at what you can see within the image details of a photo, 3D animations, or just plain web graphics.

Touchscreen functionality is plug and play for both Win 8 & 7. I have it hooked up to my Win8 custom build and it works flawlessly (although this is my 2nd since the 1st did not). The response to touch is instantaneous and noticeably better than my smartphone (GS2).

Between the 10-point touch and this being a 23" IPS panel, this monitor was a no-brainer when shopping for such an item specifically. 450 is a great price and I have even seen a 100 off instant coupon bringing it to 350. Wish I got that!

Cons: Had to RMA first unit as it would flake out on any Win7 or Win8 system I connected it to. I have numerous custom builds that my family and I are either using or have around for clients and the monitor would do the same thing on any system I connected it to--The touch sensor would assume it was being manipulated in a random area. This behavior would bring the mouse cursor to that are as if it were rapidly being touched--Just one area, the size of a finger tip--as if it were being tapped rapidly. The only fix was a reboot via power button and then it would start again within minutes.

Secondly, although this is a great deal at 450, I cannot stand visiting newegg for other parts and checking the monitor that "I got a great deal on" have a 100 off coupon code in addition to the 150 instant savings every time I'm here. It seems that EVERYONE is getting a better deal on this than I did Xp... No eggs subtracted for that one though XD

Other Thoughts: Although the RMA was a hassle (-1 egg), this is a great deal at 350-450. I Would never pay 600+ for ANY monitor unless it were a 27" 3D 120Hz OC 10-point Touchscreen IPS Panel w/ 2560x1440 res... But those don't exist :p

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Touchscreen

Pros: Big, beautiful, bright screen. Touchscreen even more responsive than I expected. Super easy set-up, worked perfectly right out of the box.

Cons: So far none.

Other Thoughts: Watch for coupons, I got it for less right here at NewEgg. I'm totally impressed with the monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsNice,but a few dead pixels

Pros: Big, bright and easy to set up. 2 hdmi inputs plus vga. Works great with Windows 7 or 8. Great price.

Cons: I keep trying to clean off these two black dots that are irritatingly present at all times.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!

Pros: It is big. It is beautiful. It is responsive. You can use it as a secondary monitor off a laptop and have that mega-space on the clean desktop all to yourself. Running off a HP Windows 8 laptop. Very fast. Excellent graphics. The IPS makes it stunning. Well worth the bucks. For those of use who like more desktop rather than less - you have to get one of these!

I got this for a client of mine who is not very tech savvy, who wanted a touchscreen attached to a laptop that isn't and wanted the bigger screen for "home base".
She loves it. Has not had a bit of trouble figuring out how to use it. Took her a couple minutes to get the hang of using it between the laptop and monitor.

While practically, you probably will not have all ten fingers on the screen at the same time, you CAN do that with this monitor. I can imagine finger painting would be a blast with this touchscreen. But for the practical touch and move actions - this touchscreen rocks!

Cons: It's not a 40 inch. Price? I'm sure it will get less expensive over time, but do you want to wait that long? I'm surprised more of these are not out there.

Other Thoughts: You do NOT have to have a touchscreen computer in order to use this device. When you install it, the ability to use it will come to life. You DO need Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS (sorry, I can't speak to MAC user requirements).
