Multitasking should not mean flipping back and forth between windows. The 21:9 UltraWide monitor is not just wide - it's smart. With a single click, the 4-Screen Split feature divides the screen into up to four customizable segments.

The Dual Link-up feature allows two compatible portable devices, like a computer, camera, phone, or Blu-ray player, to be connected to the monitor and viewed on a single screen simultaneously.

*To use Dual Link-up, one device must be connected to the DisplayPort the other must be connected to either the HDMI or DVI port.

MHL links your compatible smartphone's display and sound to the 21:9 UltraWide monitor so that you can enjoy content, like videos and games, in impressive scale and sound. With MHL, you can quickly show content from your compatible phone to the monitor without accessing a network.

3 out of 5 eggsMonitor has developed a light vertical stripe. after 8 months. Possible t-con board issue

Pros: Wide aspect ratio for games. Brilliant, vibrant, accurate colors.

Cons: IPS glow: The monitor has pretty bad IPS glow around the four corners which makes it pretty difficult to play games with dark scenes when you are sitting close to the screen. The IPS glow diminishes when sitting farther away from the monitor.

Stuck pixel: I have one annoying green stuck pixel that has been there from day one and won't go away.

Light vertical band 3/4 of the way to the right of the screen. After using this monitor normally for ~4-8 hours a day it has developed a vertical stripe on the screen which is reminiscent of a "faulty t-con board" that I had in a TV. The stripe is visible when viewing a solid color on screen (most notably when viewing grey or blue). It's hard to see it but it's there.

Other Thoughts: I consider this monitor a mixed bag. On one hand, the accurate colors make it ideal for photo editing and the aspect ratio makes it ideal for games. However the IPS glow makes low-key scenes look unbearable and when watching DVDs on it you will still see the letterbox on the top and bottom. It's not a fault of the monitor, but it makes the movies look pretty short vertical wise given the height of the monitor is not that great to begin with.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: the Ultrawide screen is beautiful to use for multitasking or just sticking a Windows 8.1 app to one side.

Cons: Split-screen feature
The split screen features LG promises for their Ultrawide monitors is 100% software based or assisted. if you try and attempt to display two video outputs from one or more devices to the monitor for a side-by-side viewing, you get squished and distorted images of both devices.
The computer monitor does not send report the reduced resolution back to devices (I've tried the HDMI and DP). You need to have their software driver installed on the system - Windows or Mac
However, the driver/patch they provide on disc and the ancient version they have on their website does not support AMD Radeon Catalyst drivers. I could only get it to work with the basic Windows Update supplied driver and even with that sever limitiation, it failed to work when Windows updated the video driver to the latest WHQL version.
No amount of chatting with tech support will resolve this issue -- trust me,
After 15 months of ownership/use, the monitor has developed a bright red vertical strip and since its over 1 year old the only option I have to me is to accept it, or pay LG a $200 flat fee to repair/replace the screen.
I can understand dead pixel policy, etc, but a completely solid red stripe! That is just poor quality.

Other Thoughts: Although I love the Ultrawide display, I can not recommend that anyone other than a total geek with deep pockets purchase one of these monitors from LG.
For one, the split screen is a lie
The driver/app to support split-screen is a memory hog and even when it 'worked' it caused my Adobe software problems.
Given that this is a specialty monitor/panel and I purchased the LG branded Ultrawide and not a 3rd party OEM, I would expect better quality and certainly better software.
Pretty much useless now....

3 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: It was something new, this 21:9 ratio. But it is better than any 1920x1080 monitors with no doubt. I got this monitor in April and have been using it till now. I used is rarely as my second monitor along with my laptop. Great for multitasking. You can pull up few more windows while you are doing something on your primary.

Cons: Like I said, it is a great monitor and I have no regret of buying it except I found two dead or stuck pixels recently. I thought it was stuck pixel at first because I didn't notice them for months of usage. I found it while i was watching a youtube video and when the screen was very dark, two pixels in the slight left and right of the center of the screen appeared greenish. It was very visible. I've been using the screen mostly for working on word document and excel files (white backgrounds usually) so I didn't notice those dead pixels. I tried methods to remove stuck pixels and there was no change. Thus I think they are dead pixels. Now that I know there are two dead pixels on my monitor, I can't help but to notice them and they are very annoying.

Other Thoughts: I wonder if there is a way to fix it. If they are dead pixels, I believe I bought a defected product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ultrawide display.

Pros: This monitor has excellent colors, Phenomenal response times (For an IPS), Decent speakers (For a monitor), and is just plain nice to look at, has VESA mount supports, plenty of display input options.

Cons: The on screen menu is controlled by capacitive buttons, Also the stand only allows for tilt and not rotation or height.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I would buy one at full price though. $599 is a steep price for a monitor like this. When I bought it there was a 48 hour deal going on and I was able to get it for $340.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but Not Perfect.

Pros: Features

Cons: Non-Adjustable, the monitor by default is angled downward and with no way to adjust it, makes it rather annoying sometimes. For this price it's not acceptable to have a monitor without a single adjustment to the stand. Also the color calibrating software from LG doesn't work with my PC. Could be an issue on my end, not dropping an egg for that just something to bare in mind.

4 out of 5 eggsI like it, but I don't love it

Pros: lots of screen real-estate. has vesa mounts. includes speakers. picture is good.

Cons: The screen controls are difficult to use. They are soft touch sensitive buttons and just trying to find the buttons activates the controls. (I had read reviews about this, but I didn't think it would be a deal breaker - just annoying).
There is only on display port connection, so if you want to daisy chain, this one would need to be last on the chain. (I knew this when I purchased).
Does not have height adjustment. (There is a model that has it, but this one was on sale and that one was not).
LG screen split will not work on my Lenovo T430 laptop (display port connection - win7. could be a conflict with some other software).
Requires a power brick rather than building PSU into monitor.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for the screen real estate - alternative to having multiple monitor setup, however I feel the monitor is too wide for desktop use, in a multi-monitor environment I would have angled the screens for better viewing (I wear progressive lenses) I should have spent more and purchased a 27" 2560x1200 screen that would provide same horizontal resolution and give me more vertically. I think the pixel density would probably be ideal on the 27" higher res display.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Screen!

Pros: The colors are beautiful. The size is magnificent and perfect for my table. I was debating two monitors, but when i saw this at the reduced price of about 400 dollars, I jumped on it.
It came with no dead pixels or any damage at all.

Cons: I bought an HDMI cable just to make sure that my computer got the full resolution possible, but I am not 100% sure it was necessary.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Picture

Pros: This monitor came in perfect condition and had zero dead pixels. The picture is amazing and gets extremely bright. Being IPS, the viewing angle is also great. Aesthetics are nice and it's a great substiture for dual monitors.

The built-in speakers are loud, but lack the bass that would be present if using a set of speakers with a sub woofer (duh). Overall the speakers are adequate and I have no complaints.

I have this paired up with a GTX770 and can play all of my games at max or near max settings at 2560x1080. I think this monitor really shines in first person games since the extra width allows a better peripheral view.

Cons: Third party support for the 21:9 aspect ratio isn't quite all there yet, so I would recommend checking up on whatever it is that you plan on doing or playing to make sure it supports 21:9 to really get the most out of this monitor.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I would purchase this at $650, but for ~$380 it is an awesome deal and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't need the extra vertical space that going to 2560x1440 would offer.

3 out of 5 eggsColor is off

Pros: Good design
Good quality
Good size

Cons: Cannot complete color calibration

My setup is
Mac -> mini display port to display port adapter -> LG monitor
color is way off, and truecolor find does not work, saying cannot find monitor or sth.
Wish some one would be able to help me calibrate it without addtional color calibration hardware, before I decide to return the device.
