5 out of 5 eggsIncredible

Pros: -Price
-Lightweight
-Thin
-Looks Great
-Solid Stand, doesn't wobble much.
-Bezel isn't offensive, not too large or too glossy.
-Matte Screen
-Brilliant Color
-Bright Whites
-Deep Blacks
-Solid Response Time for gaming
-Great Color Reproduction

Cons: -No DVI input.

Honestly, who uses VGA still? The only reason I can think of is for older laptops without an HDMI output or something. I would have preferred an HDMI and DVI input but seeing as most computers, as well as my rig, have HDMI out, it's not a problem.

-Viewing Angle. The angle at which you can see the picture is excellent, but it gets a bit washed out, especially with darker images, the more extreme the angle becomes.

Other Thoughts: Preface:
There's a reason why this monitor was going to get 5 Stars anyways. The monitor I'm comparing this too (and replaced it with) is an 8 Year old Sceptre / DCLCD TN Panel. Still has the "Vista Compatible" sticker on it. I never really thought it'd be necessary to get a new monitor but I had some extra cash so I thought I'd treat myself to something nice. So basically, anything is a step up from what I had before.

Uses:
I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical buying an IPS panel. You see, I use my computer for a lot of different tasks. Surfing the web, Facebook, watching HD movies, writing code, doing lots of homework, and in my spare time I like to get a few rounds of Battlefield 4 in. I've read over and over that IPS panels were not the best for gaming, so that was my main concern. This monitor was recommended to me by someone on another website, and now, I'd buy them a beer if I could.

Quality:
LG makes great TVs and expect the same quality when purchasing one of their monitors. I currently have my old monitor next to it (dual displays) and I cringe every time I look at it. My thoughts are "Why didn't I do this sooner?". Everything is much more crisp and rich. I now see colors I've never seen before. The whites are excellent and vibrant, the blacks deep and they contrast extremely well. The display is large enough to multitask on, writing reports or programs is a pleasure to do. I found myself searching tirelessly for new wallpapers to show off the capabilities of this monitor. It seriously is beautiful.

Gaming:
A major concern of mine was gaming performance, but the 5ms response time is more then enough to keep my worries at bay. Battlefield 4 looks terrific with eye popping color and everything seems to have a bit more depth or definition. Thermal vision is extremely vibrant now, targets in white really stand out from the rest of the greys and blacks. It's really a night and day difference. I have not noticed any blurring, ghosting or input lag in-game.

Overall, I got this monitor for a hell of a deal and it was worth every penny. It's truly a pleasure every time I login to Windows now. Couldn't be happier.

3 out of 5 eggsLG 22MP55HQ-P Black 22" 5ms HDMI

Pros: HDMI digital connection. Good picture quality. Thin frame and small stan are well balance and takes up less space on the desktop.

Cons: Cheap money saving features, like the monitor stand. There is no HDMI cable. The vga cable is very thin and does not have enough shielding to give a quality picture and prevent outside interference.
That said, I had a HDMI cable that I used. The monitor automaticaly found it and set it up for use. It gave a very good picture!

Other Thoughts: With what I know now I would buy another one like it. But I am afraid that unless you are willing to pay over $250 for a monitor you will have those cheap features.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Monitor with Major Annoyance

Pros: The monitor itself is great for the price(bought mine on sale). I use mine for movies and games on Steam, and the picture and color is great. This is my first IPS monitor and I was not let down.

Cons: Unfortunately, there is a major annoyance and a possible big issue for some buyers(myself included). After researching online, this monitor seems to suffer from LG's "dimming". There are plenty of threads of people with this issue on other LG models, but I've have experienced it first hand on this monitor. There is no way to turn it off in the settings provided, even after setting the monitor to PC mode, making sure the dynamic contrast and eco mode is off.

What is this dimming you ask? Well as a movie and game fan, any time the screen turns pitch black, be it from movie credits, a fade in/fade out during scenes, a loading screen during a game, a dark scene in a game, the monitor itself will "turn off". Now the monitor itself is still on and will immediately bring the picture back, but there is a 2-5 second delay. It's almost like something in the monitor sees a black screen, so it turns the backlight completely off.

As a movie fan it's incredibly frustrating when during a quick 5-10 second fade in/fade out or quickly cut scene, the backlight will turn or "dim" itself off and on, as if you were pressing the power button yourself.

Other Thoughts: I didn't want to put this in the Cons, but the only fix I've found for this dimming issue is to set the monitor's settings to "PC Mode" and "Cinema". This gives me the same, be it a little bit darker picture than my custom setting, with the added bonus of it stopping the automatic dimming and having the backlight switch off. This is only a temp fix however as doing this greys out all major customization options such as contrast and individual color temperature.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I love LG monitors and this did not let me down. It has high quality and it's very big.

Cons: The stand is a bit wobbly, but I don't move it much so this is not a big issue.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Monitors

Pros: Adjustable, nice size for programming. LG

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I'm happy with LG for the 5th time now. I have two of these set up on a dual monitor mount for a workstation and they are great. Very good contrast and size.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor for Cheap

Pros: This monitor looks great with minimal fuss - all you really need to change is the brightness.

The IPS panel is a nice upgrade for me - I use an IPS Wacom pen display tablet, and moving images from that to my previous TN screen was painful.

The size is a good fit for the resolution - not so pixel-dense that you have to change Windows' DPI, but not too big, either.

The construction seems sturdy to me, and I don't have a problem with the screen moving no matter how hard I type, although it might if your desk is flimsy. I like how thin the display is, and the bezel's not too big either.

Of course, the biggest advantage is the price. For $117 ($130 w/ 10% off), it's an absolute steal.

Cons: Cannot differentiate well between very light greys (whites above 250 - see the "White Saturation" test at lagom.nl).

The monitor is a bit of a pain to get together - the stand snaps into the back of the panel, and it's held in place by a pretty stiff plastic clip you have to press in to remove it again. Not looking forward to moving it.

There's no DVI, but who cares when you have HDMI? Buy a cheapo DVI-HDMI cable if your GPU doesn't have HDMI out.

The blacks are a bit light, and the backlight has a slight pattern when the screen is completely black, but it's not bad - certainly not as bad as one of my friends' off-market Shimian screens.

These are all just minor annoyances, and not enough for me to remove an egg.

Other Thoughts: I'd say this monitor is worth it for $150 or less right now, but it depends on what else you can find.

I could have gone with one of those off-market Shimians that I mentioned above, but as I mentioned the backlights are often pretty bad and I was afraid of dead pixels, etc.

4 out of 5 eggscalibration

Pros: previous review with same nick

Cons: previous review with same nick

Other Thoughts: I forgot to add to my previous review. My calibrated settings I needed to change are:
-brightness 12-48, it's up to you, i like mine low
-contrast 70, needs to stay here or white gradients become wild.
-black level high, i kept it there since low did not work well during calibration.
-gamma 1, kept it there
-color temp custom/default, all set to 50 which are default

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor with flaws

Pros: Great monitor overall, but a few flaws result in my marking it down one star. Images look good from all angles (IPS)

Cons: The plastic stand isn't particularly sturdy, and the monitor shakes a little while I'm typing. No DVI connection. The brightness could be a little stronger; my X230 laptop's LCD is brighter.
