2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: - Ridiculously awesome lamp life. You ought to be able to install this projector and never give maintenance a second thought.
- Size. It's amazing that LG managed to squeeze a 1080p projector into this form factor. It's even more amazing when you consider how many features they bundled -- many of which aren't even included on larger, more expensive projectors.
- An on-board tuner. This is a nice-value added touch, but didn't really apply to our setup; it would be great for a cordcutter.
- Instant on. Instant off. The OS takes a few seconds to boot, but the unit projects at full brightness moments after you power up. There's now power down cycle either -- hit the power, and display turns off.
- Tested the ARC over HDMI, and it worked well. That's a nice feature to have in a wired HDMI setup (but our permanent setup uses Wireless HDMI, which doesn't support ARC).
- MHL worked really well.
- The motion remote was neat, but kind of gimmicky.
- The auto-keystone feature worked really, really well -- it adjusts on the fly, seconds after re-positioning the projector.

Cons: - Fan noise. Being LED based, I didn't expect enough heat to justify the constant, noticeable fan noise at its brightest setting. (The projector's slim form factor requires a smaller-than-normal fan for a projector, and it whirls at a high RPM to keep the unit cooled.) It's tolerable (but still noticeable) at the mid-brightness setting, and barely noticeable at the lowest
- No zoom. I underestimated how inconvenient this was. Ceiling mounting this projector was a huge pain, because there's absolutely no tolerance for error.
- Noticeable light inconsistencies. We ceiling mounted our projector, and it projects downward at a slight angle. For that reason, the distance to the top of our screen is less than the distance to the bottom of our screen. The top is noticeably brighter than the bottom.
- Stagnant app ecosystem. Most of what's there seems to have been there for a while, and outside of a few featured apps (that are commonly available) -- like Netflix and YouTube --, they're mostly worthless.
- Take "Miracast support" with a grain of salt. Pairing was inconsistent and there was heavy lag compared to similar tests with a Microsoft Wireless Display adapter.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to like this projector, but it left me feeling... "meh". The cons outweighed the pros for me, and left me with a feeling of buyer's remorse.

We ceiling mounted our projector 11'5" back from our screen to project at 112".

If not for the restocking fee, we would have returned it and picked up a cheaper DLP alternative.

1 out of 5 eggsLousy Customer Services,

Pros: none

Cons: Bought this projector 2 months ago, making loud fan noises and stop working so sent in for repair. Been waiting for 3 weeks not sure if I will ever get it back. Called LG several times to check the status – but every time different person and story – not sure if they have it or when I will get back.– would not recommend LG product again.

Other Thoughts: Dont buy this - $1200+ expensive product does not mean - reliable or better - yet customer is the worst. NO MORE LG Products.

4 out of 5 eggsLG PF85U LED Projector

Pros: LED = no bulbs 30000 hrs.
Instant on / off
Wireless networking / DLNA
Accurate colors / geometry / gamma & fully adjustable
Built-in TV tuner
2 year warranty

Cons: No 3D
Still only max 1000 lumens
No zoom
Manual focus
small optic lens

Other Thoughts: My 5th projector since 1998 & the Best so far!
I don't miss no 3D, as projector is only 1000 lumens
I have NO focus issues with my proj. Text is sharp & clear.
Convergence adjustments for corners of display would be a plus but Not an issue with video playback.
Its small, lightweight design makes unmounting / remounting between 2 rooms quick & easy.
For the money, zoom should be included.
