4 out of 5 eggsNice first taste of ultrawide

Pros: Bezels are relatively small. Extra screen real estate is really nice. Hard to go back to a regular 1920x1080p monitor after using ultrawide.

Cons: Control wheel is annoying. DVI ports never worked on mine, but I just used Displayport to get around that. Does feel a bit vertically squished because of only being 25" and so wide.

Other Thoughts: Recommended, though if you can spring for it go for the 29" model at least.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor! But Make sure it will work for YOU!

Pros: Affordable for an ultrawide, great ips display, great colors, easy to set up, Awesome for games that support it.

Cons: Some features shouldn't have even been included in this size such as the 4- way split screen. I'm sure it works great for their 34" but on this small of a screen it doesn't fit quite right.

Other Thoughts: This is a higher resolution monitor so if you plan on gaming with it make sure you have a decent graphics card. Also a program called flawless widescreen makes most games fit nicely to the 21:9 aspect ratio but there are still some old Windows XP games that I have to play on my 1080p monitor, luckily for me and my multitasking reasons I have a 21.5" 1080 mounted on the wall right next to my ultrawide but if you are planning on using this as your only monitor just beware that older games like Command & Conquer RA2 will not work on this monitor (or at least it didn't for me). Otherwise if you want an affordable ultrawide that will actually fit on your desk this thing is incredible! The colors are so real and the added screen real-estate for gaming or digital design is awesome! I'm planning on getting two more of these puppies and running three of them once I find out which graphics card will actually push all that resolution lol (I need more Vram :/) LG has really made a great monitor here.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat if you can get it for 200

Pros: It's a very clear, bright monitor with good color reproduction. A lot of pixels

Cons: LG should include an display port cable.

Other Thoughts: At the orginial price I don't see it being worth it, but for 200 the added pixels are nice. a 25 - 27 inch 1080p monitor is also a better choice If you like larger sized pixels.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Crystal clear. Replaced a Dell 2240L IPS with this and the colors look just as good. The VESA mount holes are in a good position if you decide to use a stand or something else.

Cons: The menu knob on the bottom isn't very intuitive with the first use.

5 out of 5 eggsA Great Monitor for Mac Users

Pros: - Extra Widescreen
- Speakers good quality
- Good Contrast
- Monitor Menus are easy to navigate
- Excel looks great on this
- I personally feel as if my mac pro retina is enlarged keeping the same aspect ratio

Cons: - Not a big deal and as expected, colors will not be as good as the retina display of the mac, but its pretty good
- build quality could be little improved
- providing a display port cable would help

Other Thoughts: --- I have a retina macbook pro 13" and the monitor gives 2560 X 1080 resolution on both HDMI and Displayport, I have used both, but for some reason I liked the displayport connection better than HDMI. The sound quality of the monitor is great. I recommend this to anyone who would buy this for production use, not just entertainment use. Most videos will not be 21:9, so won't be full screen, however, when it comes to excel, coding etc. this is a beast. For programming purposes with several windows open, its an awesome machine. The matte display really helps if you have a table lamp next to it, it will be completely visible. I bought it for $200, and I am sure this deal will come back. I wouldn't think twice for the price.

3 out of 5 eggsNice monitor - with a caveat for Mac users

Pros: This is a beautiful IPS display with a lot of great options including the split screen. In the short time I had it before I returned it I thought it had great definition and color.

Cons: Here is the one caveat that resulted in me returning this monitor. It is not stated but the maximum resolution for the ultrawide display of 2560x1080 is not achievable over the HDMI input from a Mac. I tried to display that resolution using my Retina MacBook Pro over HDMI only to find that the maximum resolution was 1920x1080. This presents a huge problem for me since the screen was badly stretched at this resolution and not usable for me. The option existed to use the Display Port input but both of my Thunderbolt ports are in use for gigabit ethernet and storage. I suppose I could purchase a Thunderbolt dock with ethernet to free up a port but that would be another $200-$300 which I simply cannot justify. It was very disappointing to have to return this display but New Egg customer service was very helpful.

5 out of 5 eggs21:9 make 16:9 look like 4:3.

Pros: This is a IPS panel running 21:9 ratio in 2560x1080p.

Now for the colors: i must say it's better then my Samsung 6420 Series 3D HDTV, it's way sharper & the colors are right.

There four settings in picture, there custom, photo, cinema & game.

Cinema is great but photo has better color & a little bit of brightness in the background. game setting look great as well but i love Photo setting.

the 21:9 is great, it make 16:9 look like 4:3. the 2560x1080p display help a lot in everything you do. PC games in 21:9 need to get use to but when you do is just wow. you can see the whole world clear now.

Movies: same as game & you never want to go back to 16:9 when you pop a movie & watch it in that format 21:9.

The joystick menu thing is great too, it's so easy to use & even has 1:1 mode which is great.

Can't wait to play PC games on my 970 GTX when i get it Thursday.

Cons: I had no money for the 29' model : (.

the LG 25UM64-S Look kind of small for a 25' but it's my eyes are getting use to the screen size since i always use a 20' monitor & 40' 3D HTV.

Other Thoughts: If you looking for a monitor to watch movies, play games, surf the internet then this monitor is for you.

144 hz gaming monitor is great but TN panel is not that great, the views to the colors are not that good, sure the 144 hz help in gaming but when you going to buy a monitor you got to pick IPS & color which i did.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Monitor

Pros: First and foremost I must address the backlight bleed issue. This is a problem that exists between individual monitors, not a fault of model or brand. My particular monitor has very low amounts of backlight bleed, but that doesn't mean that yours won't. If it does, LG seems to be one of those companies that won't give you too much of a hassle to replace your monitor with a new one with, if you request it within a reasonable time frame of course.

With that aside, 21:9 is an aspect ratio that is perfect for media creation or consumption. With plenty of space for a splitscreen between two browser windows or multiple documents, this monitor is also impressive in terms of productivity.

For the rather vast gamer market out there, games look absolutely fantastic at this aspect ratio. However, before buying this monitor for this reason, read the cons.

Onto the display itself, I can see colors that I didn't even know existed. So many greens and reds, but looking at sky and ocean scenes the blues seem limited (at least in comparison to the reds and greens, like oh my so many colors). Then again, I'm not used to setting up a monitor of this caliber, so I probably just didn't set it up correctly.

Like many people here I thought the height of the display was going to seem very short, but in comparison to some other monitors that my friends have I'd say the height is about average, perhaps slightly shorter. The width is absolutely incredible, it makes movies and games really immersive. So much more of one's vision is filled, and you don't need annoying black bezels in the way like in a multi monitor setup.

This monitor is almost perfect for my needs. Content creators should rejoice with this display, Adobe CS6 seems to be especially exceptional at this aspect ratio, providing optimal room for the content area while keeping any toolboxes you have open far to the left and right - just sitting there in your peripheral vision, waiting until you need them..

Cons: An unacceptable number of fullscreen applications don't have proper support for 21:9, especially games. By that I mean 16:9 content in these applications is stretched and skewed across the display, with black borders on all sides of the content. Most of the games that do this are console ports, where a typical 16:9 or 5:4 display is often assumed. One game that does this without the console-port excuse is Terraria. Most indie games are fine I've found, and most newer triple-A games I've seen deal with it well enough. But pretty much anything ported from the 360 or PS3 will have trouble, I've seen.

The sad thing is that this isn't a hard thing to fix. Even if the developers are too lazy to alter the GUI to work well on 21:9 displays, all they have to do is center the 16:9 content in the display and then fill in the space on the sides with black borders. But instead the applications try to act as if the monitor is 16:9 natively, which it most definitely isn't.

This is NOT by any means a problem with this display, or the fault of 21:9 aspect ratio. It is simply lazy developers who don't want to go back and fix how their application is displayed.

So if you are buying something like this for games, do some research to make sure the games you play support it. Even if they don't, this problem only affects fullscreen content. Running the game in windowed mode will work fine, but it is not optimal.

Other Thoughts: If I had the cash, I would go for LG's 34" curved 21:9 1440p equivalent of this monitor. For $1000 USD I imagine it is worth the cost, but I just don't have that much available to me.

I would also appreciate more 21:9 TVs. Games at that aspect ratio on a TV-sized display... Just fantastic. Not even bothering to buy a TV until 21:9 becomes more standardized.

5 out of 5 eggsLG 25UM64-S New screen tech 21:9 pls etc

Pros: This is an upgrade from my LG E2370V-BF i have had for over 3 years. This has a lot of the same specs including power usage weight and contrast plus more. The split screen software is an awesome feature that has little cpu draw. The windows 7 feature was never as slick for my use. Adjustability is good with gaming and cinema modes. Thru sound on headphones is impressive and seems better than built in but not as good as my home stereo output (sd-at1000) Built in speakers work whereas my E2370V never had. Good power found from them and they do allow some identification for aural location in games. I do like lgs products and stance in the market. 10% off and on sale overnight, nice move from NE was going to go with an obscure site.

Cons: The external power supply
DVI cord from my last lg makes resolution look like a 90's crt
saturated cable market?
Other options sound better than built in speakers
changing audio from hdmi to optical out a bit of a hassle / i don't know how to do that off hand.

Other Thoughts: I guess the menu volume controls the pc output.
i don't really know what a dual link dvi cable is
i am using my IOGEAR GHDC1405W6 with Ethernet from here 3yrs ago. didn't use the included, i think the io has more quality
PLS options? Probably over paid on my last lg by $100 ( according to what the new models are) but that was an early adoption and so is this.
