5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: This is a great monitor. Very bright colors - I have a 4 monitor setup and the other 3 pale compared to this one.

Cons: I can't think of any.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not automatically wake from sleep.

Pros: Beautiful panel, terrible assembly and software. I use this display for computer science research, mechanical design/modeling, and high end gaming. Higher refresh would be nice for the gaming but for software development and mechanical design it is great. Overall I am happy with performance for all of these use cases.

Cons: Does not wake from sleep without manually hitting one of the control buttons on the display. This means every time your computer goes to sleep or boots you will need to push a button on your monitor to wake it. Additionally, if you are using this in a multi monitor setup; which you probably are if you are reading this review, your windows and desktop setup will be shuffled as your computer defaults to your other monitors that correctly woke on sleep. Thus, you also may need to resize windows and other desktop features.

I have tested this with the regular display port on my desktop PC both with Windows and Linux. I also tested this with the mini display port from my Macbook Pro. Thus, the problem is clearly not OS or GPU but the monitor firmware. There is no firmware update to fix this obvious problem on LG's website, not the date of the review 10-1-2015.

1 dead pixel in the bottom left hand corner, only really noticeable when I look for it due to the extremely high dpi of 2k and 27". Seriously though, LG must have terrible quality control considering that this is a product for professional use.

Other Thoughts: The panel in this display is nice but if LG cannot be bothered to fix something as obvious as wake from sleep then I cannot recommend this product. I would suggest looking for this panel in a package with better software.

5 out of 5 eggsHidden Gem

Pros: IPS Panel
Low IPS Glow/Bleed
Factory Calibration
Includes Hardware Calibration Tool
8 Bit Panel with professional grade LUT
Professional Aesthetic
Full Height/Pivot/Tilt Adjustment
Good connectivity, including USB 3.0 hub
QHD
Best overdrive on a IPS monitor to date

This monitor is a little gem, with an excellent panel binning from LG you get a professional/color accurate monitor and full calibration hardware, easily a 100+ dollar value. The LCD overdrive is better than almost any other IPS monitor tested, making this a great monitor for gaming. Sure TN is the way to go for the paid professional, but even for the serious gamer this monitor suffices.

Another reviewer mentioned a minimum brightness issue, I do not think this is valid since this monitor gets well within a calibrated brightness that is substantially lower than what most people are used to.

Cons: Slightly plain looking base to the stand, This is a Pro and Con as the professional aesthetic is appreciated, but I feel they could have stylized the base a little more.

Other Thoughts: Just buy this! The QA on this monitor seems much greater than other models using the same panel. LG is the manufacturer on 90% of the QHD monitors on the market, and they seem to have given themselves the better selection of panels. This panel blows away some of the PLS models on the market by Samsung and Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst experience with Newegg to date

Pros: * Great looking screen. Great picture, and pretty decent calibration capability.
* 1440p resolution! Takes a bit of getting used to, but it is awesome.
* Only maybe 1 or 2 dead/stuck pixels, but not noticeable 99.99999% of the time... with 1440p, thereare a lot of other pixels to look at.

Cons: * Too bright, even on zero brightness... gives me migraines after a while. And it takes time before you fully realize that it is getting worse, not better. But that's just me...

* It took 10 days to get here, and I gave it 2-3 weeks for my eyes to adapt, but no go... it just got worse. Then newegg won't take it back, because I'm just past 30 days... well, apparently it isn't 30 days from when I get it, but from when they took my money. They pointed me to LG, whose customer support doesn't even understand the concept of eye strain or how a really bright display could possibly give you a headache... what a joke.

Oh well, at least it is now selling on here for $150 more than I paid it for, so I guess I have to sell it myself :(

Other Thoughts: 30 guarantee/warranty needs to allow for ship time, and you should make exceptions when its only over by a few days and is causing medical issues... come on, I built nearly my entire new PC on here last year newegg.
Appears to show a lack of respect and consideration for loyal customers.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat looking monitor

Pros: - Barely any light bleed at all, IPS glow is very minimal. This being my first IPS panel, I had to search around to see what those were supposed to look like, and this monitor looks great compared to the examples I found.
- Came factory calibrated, colors look very nice. Has an external calibrator as well that I don't think I'll need to use.
- The 'non-button' touch style for the settings on the underside of the bottom right corner of the monitor work pretty well, I wasn't sure about that at first but no problems there.
- Non glossy screen - I don't like reflections in my screen, this is perfect.
- Non glossy bezel - same^, no reflections here. The bezel on this LG looks awesome.
- Nice sturdy stand, fully adjustable.
- Comes with DisplayPort and DVI cables

Cons: I had to turn my brightness all the way down to 1% to not burn my retinas. All good now though so not really a con.

Other Thoughts: Took a chance on this as there are barely any reviews on it anywhere, but I am liking it a lot. I only set this system a little over a week ago, and I've only played CS:GO so far, but this screen looks great running it at maxed out settings paired with a MSI GTX 970. Lots more testing to do with it but I am happy so far.

My build:

3 out of 5 eggsThis is a Thunderbolt Monitor

Pros: They make no mention that this is a Thunderbolt monitor. It is, will use Thunderbolt 2 technology. Will connect the USB 3 hub and use TB port. You can daisy chain other TB monitors or data products off this monitor.

Cons: have to hunt for drivers for Mac..

Other Thoughts: This is the replacement Thunderbolt monitor that Apple never made. Updated USB ports and Thunderbolt 2 technology.

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional

Pros: - IPS Quad HD with exceptional build quality and performance
- Very little light bleed
- Factory Calibrated / hardware calibrator included anyway
- Professional aesthetic
- Tilt, Swivel, Pivot and Height adjustment
- USB passthrough
- Low input lag / fast pixel response
- Picture in picture / 1:1 pixel mapping

Cons: - Slight IPS glow
- New games are difficult to drive even with a gtx 980

Other Thoughts: Judging from the difficulty finding professional and user reviews on this product I suspect there are a lot of people that don't know what they're missing. This is an excellent monitor that I bought primarily for gaming, thought it was time to move up from 1080p and it is so worth it. I also own an asus vg248qe and normally used it at 120hz because trying to run 144hz caused the colors to become washed out. I was kind of worried that the adjustment to 60hz would be too much but I feel like the resolution and all around excellent color accuracy of this monitor makes it more than acceptable. The only time I notice the lower refresh rate is when moving my cursor in windows, games don't really feel much slower to me. There is a single professional review at playerwares.com, it is Korean I believe, but you can get a good idea about the performance of this monitor. According to the review, this monitor has the lowest input lag of all ips/pls 1440p monitors and the fastest pixel response time as well. This monitor is a steal at $500 and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.
