3 out of 5 eggsW I D E

Pros: Very wide obviously. screen is as tall as a 27" monitor so a little extra height coming from a 24" 1920x1080 BenQ LCD.
IPS versus TN, well the IPS just looks better, the blacks are black not dark grey and the whites are very white. I purchased this monitor as an all around screen that I can use to remote in to work to utilize my 2 screen setup at work (GIS / Oil and Gas). RDP will utilize this resolution so that was an awesome surprise.

Cons: Light bleed in bottom left hand corner. This is a common theme when researching this monitor and the 95 version. The issue is not the screen it is the bottom part of the bezel that seems to snap in too tight against the screen. when the bottom plate is removed the screen is perfect so this is a fit and finish flaw.

Other Thoughts: coming from 1920, 2560 seemed a little ludicrous at first but i found it to be very useful and really takes the need I had for a second monitor out of the equation which is really nice. the over all look is very nice and playing games like Insurgency and BF4, which will use this resolution, are a new experience. great all around monitor except for the light bleed. This issue needs to be addressed and is the only reason I gave it 3 eggs. I really shouldn't have to take something a part that costs this much right off the bat.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Large bright, clear picture.

Cons: OSD very badly designed for switching inputs.

Other Thoughts: Talk about buyer's remorse; I love the large screen real estate and I have no complaints about the picture quality, but in hindsight, I could have been happy with a 27" monitor if it allowed me to switch computers more easily.

This monitor allows you to connect to two (or more) computers, but the method used to switch between them is so bad that I would not have bought this monitor if I had known how involved it is. The problem is that you need to click the OSD joystick control eight times (!!!) to switch between computers! I tried a KVM, but that resulted in a black screen.

in summary, if you plan on connecting more than one computer to this monitor, I recommend against this model unless LG corrects this glaring deficiency.

5 out of 5 eggsGood monitor

Pros: Good size viewing for less money. Even small videos on web pages show up close to full (normal sized) screen. Saves space because i got rid of my lower resolution 27in monitor, and still have room for 2nd monitor. (Now I have the equivalent of 3 monitors!)

Cons: Doesn't setup right with some video cards. Check for compatibility before you buy. I wasn't able to run it off of my DVI-D connector at highest resoultion, but it works well with my optional HDMI port.

Other Thoughts: I had thought about getting the higher resolution monitor than this one, but I do not regret getting this at half the price of the other.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Backlight Bleed

Pros: wide screen is nice for FPS and movies

Cons: Horrible back light bleeding at the corners, especially the lower corners. Screen will flicker at random times like it's trying to jump resolution or something. You see a black flash and the image is back to normal. Maybe my unit is defective. The back light bleeding is enough to keep me from recommending this monitor. Will be returning it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, not great

Pros: Nice dimensions. Coming from a 3 monitor setup, I basically have a similar field of view - but without the bezels or issues that come with a multi-monitor setup.

Colors are solid.

Price was fair, got it just under six-hundred.

Cons: It is of my opinion that this is not a high enough resolution for this size monitor. I had previously used 3x 28" 1920x1200 monitors. When I first started using this monitor I saw pixels for the first time in years. Now that I've used it for a while I really do not notice as much (also moved it half a foot further away from me).

Other Thoughts: Good monitor, and around six-hundred its a very fair price. Colors are great, and text reads well on it. Good all-around monitor for sure.

For the same price I think you're better off buying a g-sync or "gaming" monitor if that's what you plan to use it for. I do use it only for gaming, and I'm less than thrilled. Will probably be giving it to a friend and going with a 144hz "gaming" focused monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor w/ room for improvement

Pros: Very wide screen, Wonderful colors. I like it a lot better than my two 22" monitor setup I had before one of those died.

Cons: Expensive. Didn't come with all the accessory cables or even the recommended Dual Link DVI cable. Luckily I read this before hand and ordered one at the same time. That is one egg off. For those that this matters there is backlight bleed on the lower left corner. I only notice when watching something full screen in 16:9 ratio and the side black bars because the screen is 21:9. At this price point one expects perfection in serving it's main purpose. That is the other egg.

Other Thoughts: If I had it do over again I would exercise patience and wait. Yes I got it on sale here at $599 but even at that price it's not a great deal. There are too many quality options with 27" 1440p, and 4k monitors to not be absolutely perfect. Heck 3 years ago I bought a Toshiba 40" TV for less here. Advice to others wait for competition or LG to sort out quality control. If you can get this monitor around $300 I would say jump on it because even with it's faults it is a superb monitor at that price point.

4 out of 5 eggsGET THE DVI-D CABLE!!!

Pros: Nice size, similar to having 2 19" monitors side by side without the annoying center bezel.
Can run 2 video sources at the same time.
Audio is not too bad.
Nice settings control.
Comes with a cool application that lets you nicely fit programs on to pre-determined sections of the screen.

Cons: I almost RMA mine back thinking it was broken until I used it with the DVI-D cable.

To take advantage of the 2560x1080 resolution you MUST get the DVI-D cable or use the DPort input.
I used the supplied HDMI cable and noticed that for some reason after my computer was turned off the fans were spinning still and the mouse light was dimmed. It looks like the monitor sends power to the computer, maybe some design failure? My video card (GTX 750Ti) must not block that and was sending power to the motherboard. I switched to the old style DVI-I cable I was using before and I was getting video, but it was all snowy with a pink overlay. This was corrected by using a DVI-D cable as Mark C. mentioned on his review. With the DVI-D cable linux now recognizes the 2560x1080 resolution, it didn't when I was using the HDMI cable, although on windows I was able to do 2560x1080 with the HDMI cable, but had to unplug it after turning the computer, off which was super annoying.

Other Thoughts: It is a nice size monitor, kind of expensive, but I think it is worth it. I had seen some reviews online and wanted to give it a try. It is a keeper, I just wish I didn't have to buy extra components to get it to work correctly.

1 out of 5 eggsToo many problems with this monitor - Avoid it.

Pros: Very nice ultrawide view screen, light, easy to install. Easy to use OSD menu.

Cons: Monitor will not allow full RGB settings and it has bad issues with frame skipping on videos unless you maximize the screen. LG support will literally put you on hold and hung up on you before they bother assisting you.

Black colors are extremely dark and white color extremely bright. I'm aware this kind of monitor has different color processing than others but this is outright absurd. You end up having to choose whether the dark colors make the whole screen impossible to see or have the white colors burn your retinas. Neither monitor nor video card nor windows settings change this behavior.

Resolution on the monitor is 2560x1080 native at 60hz and using any other setting results in a horrid display... monitor will either stretch image to comic levels or compress it in really weird formats.

Finally, for a 34 inch monitor it is sad to see the vertical viewing area was reduced to that of a 24 inch monitor. The 'ultrawide' is really nothing more than a 'trade height for width and charge them lots of money for it' scheme.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this monitor for anything other than office work. The color issue makes gaming be impossible and video editing/art is out of the question. LG's nonexistent tech support does not help either.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Monitor

Pros: Very nice monitor! used to have a 27 inch monitor but this ultrawide screen is amazing for gaming.

Cons: some games dont support this resolution, not the monitors fault.
