5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Nice clean crisp picture. Adjustable height is great*. Overall very impressed.

Cons: I wish the height would lock in at more levels.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: I am not a huge computer gaming connoisseur but the monitor still looks great since the day I bought it. At the time it was a steal and still is but lucks the LED backlit capability of today's technology.

Cons: No LED backlighting.

Other Thoughts: LED backlit is something to consider as seen in HDTVs the contrast changes are MUCH greater.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap & Effective

Pros: Cost and native resolution are the two big ones. Followed by the USB ports on the side and bottom. Has VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs. Has a built in speaker but it sounds horrible and simply not worth using.

Cons: Display mode switching. I haven't seen this mentioned yet but sometimes games will change the display mode when loaded and it will cause the monitor to turn off. Forcing you to reset the monitor by turning it off with the switch or holding the power button on the front of the monitor until it resets/reboots the screen. Very annoying but only happens in a handful of games.

Resolution - yes this is also a con. Although its a 16:9 scale panel, there is surprisingly little support for this resolution in many games that will max out at 1920x1080. This also has the unique issue of finding wallpaper that looks right when scaled up from 1080p.

Other Thoughts: Overall i'm happy with this monitor I have had it over 2 years now and it still looks as crisp as the day it was hooked up. I was worried that text would be too small but it is actually about the same scale as a 19" 4:3 LCD panel @ 1280x1024.

As this is a pretty old monitor it may be a better idea to look for something new, perhaps a 16:10 IPS. But for the price this is a solid monitor if you cannot afford something better.

2 out of 5 eggstoo smart for its own good

Pros: Large
decent picture
decent speakers
VESA mountable

Cons: auto-detect issues
unresponsive controls
hard to read menu labels
image glitches
whining noise at some settings
speakers linked to video in
noise in lower right

Other Thoughts: Generally, this is a pretty good large monitor. Once, I moved it and it started making an obnoxious whining noise, but it stopped when I adjusted some minor settings (I think it was the brightness, maybe color balance).
The really aggravating thing is actually getting it connected to a computer. Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes the monitor says 'No Signal' and goes to sleep before the computer can auto-detect it. Then it gets into some kind of loop where the computer detects the monitor, then can't find it, then detects it again. Originally I just thought it was a windows issue but now I have a mac and have the exact same issue. It would be really nice to have a way to disable auto-setup for 60 seconds, instead of having it try to detect the singnal and then go to sleep. Sometimes just putting the computer to sleep and waking it back up fixes it. When the display goes to sleep, it doesn't tend to want to be woken up with the power button.

2 out of 5 eggsDieing just after a year

Pros: Great cheap high res monitor for the first year.

Cons: After about a year there is now significant discoloration and flickering in one of the corners. It's frustrating that it would die so quickly, I normally consider monitors to be a long term investment.

Other Thoughts: The buttons on the front are kind of hard to use, especially in a dark room.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Screen!

Pros: Low price. Super wide resolution. Height adjustable.

Cons: Some the screen seems almost TOO wide. Not a big gripe though.

Other Thoughts: I use this monitor for work. Its great for wide spreadsheets, outlook, working on multiple documents or multi-tasking.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Great Monitor, excellent resolution, awesome features.

Cons: The reason I gave this monitor 4 stars instead of 5, switching inputs is a pain, have to use the menu to get there, and also the viewing angle isn't quite what I'd expect.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great monitor, got in on Shell shocker deal so pleased with the price and as always New Egg did a fantastic job of shipping the monitor quickly.

3 out of 5 eggsMixed Thoughts ...

Pros: Great picture, amazing resolution, inexpensive, slim and sleek looking, the UBS hub onboard is really nice, no more reaching under the desk to plug in a flash drive

Cons: Kind of a loudish buzzing / humming noise. Stand extender button dealy was broken so the stand is stuck on the lowest height. I bought it because it extends and I can't even use that feature :(

RMA'd the first one due to picture issues - see below

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor as a Shell Shocker a while back and the first one developed some nasty discoloration in the top left of the screen and it was starting to spread so I RMA'd back, no problems there, Newegg is awesome. It took seemingly forever to get the new one but when it came it started squealing slightly, all monitors hum / buzz a little but this seemed odd to me. It gets worse when I hang it on the wall so it's still on it's stupid broken stand. The stand is nice I guess but both mine would not extend what-so-ever. Not sure what was going on there but the little slider that is suppose to release the monitor to lift up, did not do anything, it just slid back and forth like it wasn't even connected to anything ...

All in all a decent buy but I will not hesitate to spend a little more $$$$ next time and get something a little nicer ...

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Widescreen Resolution

Pros: Definantly the size, resolution and price. No dead pixels to report on mine, which is always nice. This monitor is also very easy to rotate and adjust which was a huge con on my other monitor.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is my first widescreen monitor and I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of space this would take up; It fills up my desk quite well, to say the least.
