2 out of 5 eggsProne to Defects

Pros: cheap

Cons: I bought six of these to set up as dual monitors on three PC's less than 6 months ago. First of all, they are too bright and it's hard to see subtle images on websites, etc. Secondly, two of the six are already having problems from manufacturing defects - one has a shadow (I'm assuming one of the backlights has failed) and the other is showing pixel artifacts on color images. My real issue is not that they are defective, but ACER customer service is obviously overseas and TERRIBLE. I have even sent a photo of the problems and it's taken days and multiple emails to even get them to offer to fix it. I prefer that they replace it since it's obviously defective - why should I be without a monitor for who knows how long because it is defective!? I'm extremely unsatisfied with this company.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy ACER again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Monitor

Pros: -Many Adjustments so good for ergonomics
-Bright
-Good quality

Cons: -Nothing I would list as a con

Other Thoughts: We have bought 5 or 6 of these over the past year or two at our office. Only 1 was defective and Newegg paid for return shipping and sent us a new one without any issue. The best part of these and why I continue to buy them over other monitors is the adjustments. This can be molded to a desk at any height and to any users particular preference. Height, Swivel, Tilt. Awesome. The monitor itself is fine -- average quality I would say. Fine for 95% of users. We have not had any die yet, except for the one that arrived defective. All our users are happy with them.

One other thing I would say is that these continue to go up in price. Everytime I buy a new one, it is more expensive. Strange but they are still worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsDual monitors

Pros: Brightest screen I have ever used. Coordinates with the first LCD. Response time is fast with no ghosting. Played Dark Knight and the blacks look good. Best monitor stand out there, "wonder if they charge more it?" Model series 'B' preferred by professionals "is it true?"

Cons: Since it has been a few months using the first LCD the newly purchased LCD looks brighter. I have to turn down all contrast and brightness so I don't go blind. Also I don't know if this effects everyone but the text at 1080 is too small so I enlarge everything I read. I doubt anyone can really read 1080 text forever! USB HUb stinks. Price is steep but had to buy for dual setup! Sharpness needs examination but from what I have seen at the stores they all look the same.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great a year later

Pros: I bought this monitor for the swivel/pivot features - I have it oriented so it's taller than it is wide. No problems with it.

Cons: It does take a few seconds to fire up. Nothing you'll lose sleep over though.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Lots of adjustments.

Cons: Kind of expensive when I bought it but it has dropped in price.

Other Thoughts: I do a lot of software development and it is really nice to be able to rotate the monitor.

I am really happy with this monitor and I am considering getting a 2nd one.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg messed up bigtime

Pros: I don't know, they sent me the wrong monitor.

Cons: First of all this review is mostly towards newegg and not the product. I ordered this along with all the other components for a new gaming computer. When it finally arrived the first thing I noticed was the box was ripped all over and taped together. While looking over the box I noticed it said LCD not LED, but I kept high hopes and proceeded to cautiously open the package. Once the package was opened, I noticed the styrofoam that is supposed to protect the monitor was broken. I carefully took the monitor out and it had something loose in it making noise and it was in fact an LCD monitor.

It doesn't even look new, it looks like a refurbished model and is no where close to the product I ordered.

1 out of 5 eggsDead Pixel Was Actually Flawed Film

Pros: Newegg ultimately elected to RMA the unit.

Cons: ACER had me send the unit to its repair facility in Temple, TX. ACER returned it to me with the dead spot noticeably remaining and a written service order stating, "No dead pixels found. Monitor passes all video and power diagnostics." Upon my subsequent showing, with a proving picture, that the dead spot remained, ACER Support replied, "we are unable to provide a replacement unit or take the computer for repair."

Other Thoughts: I had an expert examine the monitor. He concluded that the dead spot was not a dead or stuck pixel, but a flaw on the interior surface of the film on the screen. ACER's refusal to acknowledge the issue, much less resolve it, appears to be bad faith, as its dead pixel policy appears not to be implicated after all. Moral of the story: Beware of subsequent written communications from Support contradicting prior telephonic communications, lousy Tech Support, and companies relying upon lackadaisical, self-serving industry standards pertaining to statistically known problems with displays.

1 out of 5 eggsDead Pixel Follow Up

Pros: Today, after finally reaching an ACER voice team supervisor through 1-800-571-2237 (but first being bothered with reinventing the wheel with a level one guy), and making a very real threat of a lawsuit predicated on the theory that ACER could not obtain a waiver of consumer rights based merely on my purchase, deficient industry standards and ACER's anti-warranty policy regarding dead pixels, ACER agreed, contrary to its general policy, to repair or replace the monitor (due to the one dead pixel arising 87 days after purchase), completely free of charge, provided I ship the monitor to ACER's Repair Center.

Cons: Later in the day, after returning home from shipping the monitor, I noticed another ACER email had arrived stating "our technicians will check whether it qualifies the pixel policy (http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire1300/Aspire1300f
aq6.shtml). If it does not qualify, we will return the monitor unrepaired." I naturally replied, pointing out that this must be a basic "form response" error in the view of our actual agreement to the contrary, on which I already acted by shipment. ACER appears not to have disputed my correction, but only time will tell if it will retain any institutional memory whatsoever for resolutions of this nature.

Other Thoughts: It has been a 4-day pain-in-the-tail getting ACER to comprehend its exposure and to agree to repair or replace free of charge. I now will discover whether ACER can live up to its claimed 7-10 day turn-around after it receives my monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsDead Pixel

Pros: Nice stand. Decent picture (although far from the best text).

Cons: This is a moderately expensive 24 inch unit. It was invoiced on June 20, 2011 (and manufactured April 25, 2011). 87 days later after purchase it developed a dead pixel not far from the center of the screen. Acer's first foot forward was to give me a run around, followed by stating there is nothing they can do in accordance with the warranty, really an "anti-warranty."

Other Thoughts: This monitor is too expensive to tolerate a dead pixel issue within 87 days of purchase. I am set for another round of negotiations tomorrow with Acer's voice team supervisor. If that proves unproductive, then I intend to commence suit for Acer's attempt to cause me unwittingly to waive defects by a mere purchase. By the way, yes, "industry standards" in this area are unlawful cover for what are essentially fraudulent behaviors connected to the attempt to cause an unwitting waiver by purchase for a statistically known problem.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good

Pros: I have to stay with this one. I haven't had a 1080 LCD before this so I was/am wary but now believe I made the right choice. The BRIGHT/Contrast are pretty good. I haven't noticed ghosting yet in dark scenes. The stand is very nice and has VESA mount capability. I will buy another for a dual-monitor setup. I have searched through Samsung for VESA capable LED's and find very little now as they push their super thin models.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I decided to build a new PC this year after my Laptop LCD failed. So piece by piece through mail order for six weeks the Tower was ready for action. No video card as of yet, I am still saving. "You Can Do It" even on a budget!
