I purchased this monitor on 6 April, 2011 from Newegg.com for $139.00 (since d.c.'d). I would have been using it from 10 April, 2011. It failed 7 September, 2012 - three days short of eighteen months' use. I bought it on the strength of both Acer reputation and good reviews at Newegg. I didn't bother with exteded warranty because I was quite sure that an Acer quality monitor would easily outlive two years - I expected at least five by reputation. I used the built-in brightness presets frequently, but found the other settings clumsy and of little use. Monitor brightness, color depth and resolution were good and as expected. I typically left the monitor on at all times, but used screensaver and monitor sleep at 15 min. and 1 hour. I seldom used the power switch unless for maintenance and infrequent computer down times. Cons: Yet it was the power circuit that failed. Monitor started flickering in brightness and got worse for two days before I made the mistake of turning it off completely for a rest. Powering up again caught the main power switch in a fluctuating on-off-on-off cycle, and the monitor was useless. This one cheap or untested part made short work of a decent monitor. Needless to say, I will not be buying another Acer nor recommending Acer to anyone. I realize this was a rather low-end monitor, but I thought Acer was a better company than "buy cheap, get cheap. Two stars only because it was great while it lasted, thumbs down because it just didn't last Other Thoughts: Moving on. Did you find this review helpful? Not much to say ...Plug and play ...Have traveled with it to LAN events ...Outlasted 3 secondary monitors I should have stuck with 2x Acers from the get go... If it lasts, good value for the money. Newegg delivered fast. Cons: The stand is adequate but a little flimsy. Other Thoughts: I got 1680x1050 because I wanted 16:10.
