5 out of 5 eggs3D Works Well !

Pros: 3D Across 2-3 of these monitors works well and is easy to set up with Nvidia Control Panel.

Cons: To Use this monitor in 3D it requires you use a DVI connection and does not support 3D via HDMI; however, the specs say you can use a display port to DVI adapter if you can find the right kind. I however, was not able to find the right adapter type, but I didn't need to use one because I have 2 graphics cards in sli and was able to set up 3D surround with 2 DVI cables into the top card and 1 into the bottom.

Other Thoughts: Remember to view 3D content you will need to buy a universal or NVidia Stereoscopic 3D kit that comes with the glasses and transmitter.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: I own two of these Acer GD235HZ monitors. One is in dedicated use with a desktop, the other is switched between our networked TV tuners, laptops and BD player. Both have performed very well with about 5 years of use between them. One unit survived a lightning-induced spike that took out the HDMI switch in our main system.

Cons: Performance on very low light level scenes, such as in Zero Dark Thirty, is not great.

Other Thoughts: I've never tried out the 3D capability.

The price has not come down significantly since I bought my first unit several years ago- that's testimony to the quality of the product.

The range of the tilt axis is pretty narrow.

4 out of 5 eggsfor a monitor it is perfect

Pros: W/ dual link dvi you truly can get 120Hz and the quality is amazing. looks beautiful from all directions and can be mounted. simple to set up (like any monitor) and the menu + navigation is simple i love it.

Cons: the orange paint on the base is very poor quality, i could do better with a sharpie. i do not have the option of tilt adjustment, and it may be able to do 3D but their needs to be a sensor for our prespectave and what not (its about an extra $100) takes forever to come out os fleep mode, when compared to an older dell monitor it is slower by around 5-6 seconds.

Other Thoughts: if you truly want 3D i would suggest something bug and ugly that already had the sensors on it. i thought more performance options would be easy to get at such as wiping the overclocking of 2 ms ping only because when i first got the monitor it smelt like someone was burning plastic. arrived quicker than i thought with awesome response time of customer support with acer

2 out of 5 eggsLow Quality Monitor

Pros: This monitor is cheap considering it is 120hz and has decent color.

Cons: Unfortunately I have been plagued with either faulty or refurbished monitors. I bought this monitor about 6 months ago and the first one I had to replace due to everything on screen flashing bright green and red when in motion. I was running only in 2D mode as I do not recommend 3D mode for this monitor. When I turned off the monitor and back on the green ghosting would stop but reoccur again only minutes later.

I RMA'd it shortly after and received a new one where it ran just fine but still had green ghosting from time to time but I could deal with it. After a couple months I noticed the monitor could not keep up with the 120hz refresh rate. Anything in motion seems to skip frames and bounce back regardless if I was gaming, watching a movie, or simply moving my mouse around. I tested it on multiple computers thinking it was my video card, but I still saw the same anomalies on other computers as well.

I have been awaiting an Acer reply to my replacement request and will have to update with what they decide to do. I know people have green ghosting problems, but has anyone else had such issues as mine? 120hz simply does not work correctly, but 60hz is just fine. I have also tried swapping out a new DVI-Dual link with no change.

Other Thoughts: If you manage to get a good monitor then this is a great bargain, if your me and simply unlucky... then it's a nightmare. I have two friends who also have the same monitor and when they tried using mine on their computer, they were confused as to how 120hz mode lagged so much on it.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: I didn't test the 3D features and cannot comment on them.
System apparently not powerful enough to take advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate, so I can't comment on that either.

Cons: Very wobbly base, wobbles all over when I type or bump the table unless supported by heavy objects.

After using multiple calibration resources, the contrast - especially between black and near-black - is unacceptably poor. Black is not true black, either.

Has classic cheap-monitor "aliased" look around sharp edges.

There is a light leak at the bottom edge of the picture.

Unimpressive response time, no better than my 10-year-old gateway.

Other Thoughts: You can probably find a monitor with a better picture for less money. However, since I didn't test the 3D features, this might still be the best cheap 3D montior, especially with the 120Hz refresh (if your system is powerful enough for that to matter).

3 out of 5 eggsUnderwhelmed, Lacking good Color Quality

Pros: Easy Install
HDMI
Awsome aesthetic appearance and appeal (dem a's)
Very Bright
120 max refresh rate
Stand isn't fully static, tilts up and down.
Nice viewing angles

Cons: Underwhelmed by color depth, my laptops LCD screen is much better
The best part of the visuals is really the look of the monitor itself... not whats actually being displayed from it...

Other Thoughts: Just expected better from the off-sale price and expected it to smoke the regular $150-250 competition. The visuals I'm getting not even using the 3D is not very great quality even with an extremely good rig powering it. Take an environment in BF3/Crysis 3 for example... The colors arn't really popping/having much depth. And yes... i've tried to increase contrast and mess with settings. It feels like i'm getting a slight gray filter over it infact, thats how dissapointed I am with the color quality.

That said the viewing angles do sort of make up for it. Have no problem watching it from the corner of the room.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good.

Pros: 120hz
Price
Not that ugly

Cons: Stand isn't height adjustable
Color not bright; see other comments

Other Thoughts: With some adjustments the color saturation and overall brightness can be brought down. If you planned to use this monitor with 3d shutter glasses the extra brightness won't be as noticable however the color saturation options (and general options) in the main menu are quite lacking.

To properly set up this monitor to your liking you WILL need to access the service menu. Once inside the service menu you can pump the color saturation up as well as disable things lilke overdrive. Personally I'd rather have the overdrive turned off and have a slower ms response time than have to see 'ghosting'. The added benefit of turning off overdrive is that the monitor should be less likely to fail as the pixels aren't being essentially 'overclocked' to reach 2ms response times.

I'm pretty confident the benq monitor will perform better, but it also requires some adjustments to get set up properly. Based on price I'm satisfied with my purchase, but be prepared to spend some time tweaking it to your tastes.

Relatively bright, decent colors (although I turned down the red and green a bit), and of course it's "120hz."
