1 out of 5 eggs~220 Hours on the unit, HDMI goes bad

Pros: Was a great little projector while it worked for it's short life.

Cons: HDMI input is dead after less than 250 hours on the unit. That's less than 1/10th of the life of a single bulb!!! Acer wants me to spend $200 on an out of warranty product repair. This is a somewhat known issue if you research online this model and Acer denies knowing or caring about it. NEver again Acer. You've lost a consumer AND a business buyer. I'm a business owner as well.

Other Thoughts: Buyer beware on Acer products. If you are out of warranty, you are completely out of luck and expect to spend $$$ just to reach a person to talk in their pay upfront post warranty support model. Factor an extended warranty into your price (a necessity from this experience) and you might want to consider another manufacturer that stands behind their product.

4 out of 5 eggsThis thing works great

Pros: It's small, lamp replacements are just over $100 bucks, though I bought a spare I've not used it yet. At 3900 hours and going strong. Nice bright picture.

Cons: The audio crapped out after a month. I don't use it, but still you would expect it to last longer than that.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bright, vibrant colors

Cons: Dots, dots, dots all over the screen. A known manufacturer's defect for the first 2 years of production, but out of warranty service costs $400 - the cost of a new unit!

Other Thoughts: I'll never buy Acer again.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat budget 3D projector

Pros: - Vibrant colors
- Native 720p
- Built-in Speaker

Cons: - No picture control (brightness, contrast, etc.) in 3D mode
- Occassional RBE
- Remote control is oddly shaped/designed and not backlit.
- Proprietary mounting pattern (?)

Other Thoughts: I am very pleased with this projector. I bought this one specifically for it's 3D and native HD features, and it has not disappointed.
Mine is hooked up to an HTPC with an AMD 7770 video card and the picture looks great. 3D gaming (via Tridef software) is amazing . . . COD in 3D is simply awesome! And it has handled every SBS MKV movie file I have thrown at it. I use the Okeba DLP-Link 3D glasses which work pretty well (they are quickly synched with the press of a button).

As for the cons, the biggest for me is not having more (or any) control over the 3D picture. Once you switch to 3D mode, all the brightness, contrast, etc. sliders are disabled. This becomes important because the 3D picture - inherantly a result of the DLP-Link active shutter glasses - is darkened and the colors are less vibrant. Now, fortunately for me I can counteract this somewhat through the AMD control panel on my PC, but those using this without a PC will be limited to the component's (presumably a BR player?) picture settings.
I detect the RBE only occassionally...and then, it's only in dark scenes where the eye moves across a dark to light area on the screen/picture.
As for the remote, I remain baffled - at all manufacturers really - as to why they continue to not backlight the remote controls of a 3D component, whether it be a TV, BR player, or projector. At the risk of sounding too miopic, my guess is the overwhelming majority of these devices will be used in the home for entertainment purposes (I don't think 3D has quite taken the business world by storm). As such, they will be watched often times at night, and in some cases in a dark theater room. Would it kill them to backlight it?!

As you are probably doing now, I spent days upon days researching these projectors, reading every possible review from every possible site . . . all things considered, I am very happy that I went with this one and would recommend it to anyone looking for 3D capability and true HD in a budget-level projector.

4 out of 5 eggsI love this projector for the price!

Pros: - Bright, great colors, and the text is so clear I love it. My girlfriend snagged this for my birthday on black friday and we both feel it's been the best purchase we've ever made.

- With the 2ms response time, this makes playing video games awesome! I love fighting games, so having no delay time is huge.

- I'm using the projector with my playstation 3 and an HTPC. I have the projector at 140 inches using about 18ft distance to cast the image.

Cons: - Black and white movies show the rainbow effect in extreme. I don't watch to many, so thats fine. But the movies that I have that are black and white are completely unbearable to watch.

- I also don't like that Acer has made their own mount for this projector forcing you to buy their overpriced mount or make your own.

- I really have to use the preset modes such as Standard, Game, Dark Cinema, etc. You can't just leave this projector on a single setting and switch around to different types of media.

Other Thoughts: So I just want to clear something up that I keep reading and hearing in reviews throughout the web. Everyone is saying this projector shows the rainbow effect while viewing 2D content and that is not true. Go watch The Lion King on this, watch anything with bright vibrant colors and you'll never see the rainbow effect.

The only time you will ever see the rainbow effect is when you watch dark scenes or when watching black and white movies. The easiest way to see the rainbow effect is to have a completely dark scene with something bright in focus on the center of the screen. Other than that, the rainbow effect is near non-existent, but it's definitely there.

I watch lots of movies, tv shows, and even some sports like the UFC. Everything looks great.

Thanks Newegg!

4 out of 5 eggsYou Tell Me...

Pros: Fantastic Picture! Exeptional quality.
Shoots out an 85" picture at 11' back.
Quiet. Even more so in Eco Mode.
Small and light. Comes with carrying case.
Very Bright even in Eco mode (2000 Lumins) of which I always run, it does extend bulb life. Bulb replacement is 230$ but still got quite some time before that and not looking forward to it. Unless if anyone knows a place where they're cheaper please let me know:)

Cons: Sadly the throw angle is almost 45 degrees! so I had to mount on the ceiling upsidedown not necessarily a con but rather informative.
DLP LINK 3D DOES NOT WORK! I have a Xbox 360 where I had every intention to play 3D games. I bought the glasses and all and to set up the 3D is beyond vauge instructional-wise I had to spend days weeks of troubleshooting and you have to resync the image after you turn on 3D from your device and all I get is a flashing back and forth between two frames. I turn 3D off from the XBOX and leave the 3D mode on on the projector and it does some kind of homemade fake 3D it will try to make 3D from the 2D picture sent to the projector which is nice but if the picture is still you see no 3D if you are moving you can see 3D. VERY VERY IRIATATING because 3D was half the reason why I bought this projector and apparently this projector does not show up on the ACER website for support so thank you ACER for your middle finger in my face.
Another Con the keystoning only works vertically so make sure you are lined up perpendicular to your screen. Quite frankly with the 45 degree throw angle you wouldn't need to keystone at all.

Other Thoughts: The only reason why I have a 4 star review is the exeptional bang for buck this projector has if 3D is pulled out of the picture completely. I still don't know if it is my projector only that has this issue but with the fact this projector is almost completely none existent in Acer's eyes good luck for me getting any help from them so 4.9 star projector and 0 star Acer. If you do not care about 3D at all then this projector is absolutely ideal for any situation.

5 out of 5 eggsForced it to 1080p 60hz with no issue

Pros: Used this for a home theater room and have not been disappointed. I got a good deal on black Friday (360) for a good entry level projector. Now I used this permanently connected to a computer and was able to force it up to 1080p and 60hz with no issues to date. Also maybe the post processing of the computer but the refresh has been great and I have never seen any rainbowing of any kind. This is projecting onto 113inch (as a TV is measured) painted canvas screen.

Cons: The remote is cheap and the mounting points are very tight together so BUY THE MOUNT TO FIT IT or be prepared to get very creative (like I did).

Other Thoughts: Sure its a cheap Acer that looks cheap, feels cheap when you hold it, and sounds cheap when you tap on the plastic but if you can catch this thing on sale its a steal. A 1080p (forced) projector for under $400 at these lumens? Yes please!

2 out of 5 eggsGood Til Warranty Runs Out

Pros: Awesome picture! Loved the projector. Kids loved the projector. Wife loved the projector. Price is great.

Cons: When the warranty runs out, Acer washes their hands of you. Their product support sucks. Just after warranty ran out, the color wheel failed. Or at least I think that is the problem. Color wheel failure and lamp breakdown have the same error code. You can not even ask Acer a question after your product warranty expires. The support site tries to pass you off to some third party that charges a fee per question. Do I spend $200 on a new lamp when that may not even be the problem? What a joke!

Other Thoughts: Nice projector when it works. Be prepared to throw it in the garbage when warranty runs out. I guess that's with all Acer products. I guess I will check out Epson.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Awesome price for an awesome projector! My livingroom is now a theater. Ran for many hours straight without any issues. Games and movies look spectacular on a 100 inch screen.

Cons: Runs a little hot.

Other Thoughts: At first I was a little worried the drop in resolution from 1080p to 720p would be really noticeable. In games I just crank up the antialiasing and settings and it looks amazing. High-def movies look great and I don't really notice any blockyness or blurryness. Got a 100 inch diagonal screen which is awesome. No ghosting whatsoever (after gaming on 3D monitors for a long time is really noticeable). With the steady stream of hot air coming out the front, I keep my heat low and my apartment stays warm.
