1 out of 5 eggsbad quality

Pros: lightweight, good size and resolution

Cons: started to breakdown after less than 18 months. Once monitor goes to sleep, upon waking, there will be flashing purple lines moving wildly up and down the screen for about 30 seconds before the monitor "stabilizes" again. I've never had a monitor breakdown so soon, my other LCD monitors from 1999 are still doing just fine! I will never buy an Acer monitor again.

3 out of 5 eggsFine mostly but runs hot and noticeable lines flash vertically.

Pros: Good size LED 1080

Cons: A bit annoying button management.
No Input OR output for sound
Output at least would have been nice.
RUNS HOT. Power adapter as well.
Noticeable VERTICAL LINES constantly going up the screen can be seen on darker colors not as much as brighter colors.

Other Thoughts: Most complaints are minimal except the Running HOT. and the Vertical scroll lines.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: -Acer
-Great for Gaming
-Durable (2 years and no signs of wear and tear).

Cons: -Old technology. It's been 2 years, so there are better things out in the market for now. This is not Acer's fault though, so I will deduct an egg for time laspe.
-No DVI port (I knew it before buying though)

Other Thoughts: Only reason I am replacing this monitor is because of IPS displays. Otherwise I would have kept this till this day.

1 out of 5 eggsDead Pixels

Pros: Good looking, good picture quality, 2 HDMI inputs.

Cons: After less than a year, a colony of dead pixels has cropped up on the left side of the screen. I've tried lots of methods to make them go away, but they won't.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf-scan visible artifacts are noticeable

Pros: This monitor contains two HDMI inputs, allowing me to connect HDMI-based devices and computers directly without having to go through an intermediate DVI step. Unlike with most DVI-based monitors, this display supports HDMI YCbCr signals perfectly, and allows me to connect my Hackberry A10 without problems.

Cons: This monitor would be perfect if not for one thing. As another reviewer mentioned, it only renders about half the pixels in a grid-like arrangement per scan, and it visible artifacts are noticeable when objects are in motion. This phenomenon also makes the display to appear to flicker somewhat. I have noticed this happen from multiple signal sources - a Hackberry A10, a regular desktop computer with a DVI source, and my HDMI-based laptop.

Other Thoughts: I'm really surprised only one other person noticed the issue with the pixel half scan artifacts. Did Acer decide to change manufacturing specifications as this model continued to be produced?

2 out of 5 eggsWashed Out Colors

Pros: The monitor itself is very thin and lightweight.

Cons: The picture quality isn't that great. The colors appear very washed out and the black levels aren't good at all. There are other monitors in the same price range with a much better picture. I adjusted the brightness and contrast as much as I could with little improvement.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to return this monitor and purchase the ViewSonic VA2448m-LED. My co-worker has this and it has a MUCH better picture and better black levels.

3 out of 5 eggsNo speakers!

Pros: Decent video...contrast is a little soft

Cons: Who makes a monitor without built-in speakers anymore? I guess I should never assume anything.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: These monitors are bright and look pretty good for static scenes. This makes them good for uses like writing and viewing web pages. They are also extremely thin and light, which is nice.

Cons: The manufacturers seem to have skimped on hardware by updating only every other pixel at a time, so that in moving images such as games, you can see a distracting grid pattern. Even in still images, I can see a grid when I move my head. I have not seen similar artifacts on other monitors that I have owned.

Other Thoughts: I hope that updating only every other pixel doesn't become a common cost saving measure for other companies also. I don't even know how you would find out about details like this without purchasing a monitor and seeing for yourself.
