4 out of 5 eggsBlew me away

Pros: Bright
No built-in speakers
Super thin
DVI and VGA cables
Super crisp, High quality

Cons: Weird distortion effect when logging on or off
super faint, hardly noticible lines on the left 1/4 of the screen

Other Thoughts: I'm gonna start with the cons because they're hard to explain. When logging on or off the screen picture distorts and does not fill the entire screen top and bottom. Which is a hassle because the only way to fix it is turning it off and back on, which takes about 15 seconds and I feel bad doing it to the monitor. That's why I knocked off an egg.
I was reading reviews for this and a user pointed out the vertical lines on the left quarter of the screen, I looked close, squinted a little, and it was true. They were right there in front of me the whole time and I barely ever noticed.

I transitioned from an AOC 1920x1080 monitor that was a beast. It died in the worst way possible, flickering and flashing in weird ways and had to go to another store to get this monitor.

We got it because it was the highest resolution for a low price, and I felt terrible not getting another 1920x1080 resolution, but the price was fantastic so we got it.

When I hooked everything up I immediately ran Modern Warfare 3 and was BLOWN AWAY by it. It was so bright compared to my old flickerer and I just could not believe the sharpness of the display, even running on low settings in the game (I believe I went 23 and 6 that first game). I can't even describe how drastic the transition was. I've had the monitor for about 4 months now and not a single problem. I'm debating on getting two more for my new PC build, or upgrading to a 1920x1080 screen for almost $150 more, and I think I just may stick to this bad boy. The low resolution makes the picture much better, and the monitor is just overall the best out there for me.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but viewing angle not the greatest.

Pros: Good clarity, very bright, I had to tone it down significantly in brightness and contrast.

Cons: The horizontal viewing angle is pretty decent, but the vertical is somewhat annoying. You need to be looking down slightly on this monitor so those with an eye level (to center of screen) will notice it more. If its on a desk on the same level as keyboard and mouse then you probably won't notice it.

Other Thoughts: For 120 bucks (shipped) beggars can't be choosers, worth it for a second display.

2 out of 5 eggsNo VESA mounting holes blues

Pros: Cheap, no dead pixels.

Cons: There are no VESA mounting holes on this model. I thought I was buying the same model I already have. It too is 20", same profile, everything the same except for the holes. I had no idea that monitors were still manufactured without mounting holes. $35 in restocking fees is painful.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: LED Backlighting is gorgeous and crystal clear.
It's very thin and lightweight.
Produces a low amount of heat.

Cons: Strange scanline effect on left-most part of screen.
No HDMI, though I knew this when I purchased.
Inability to mount the screen in any way. Once again, knew this before purchase.

Other Thoughts: First of all, I would like to say Newegg was amazing here. I ordered the display along with a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 on Monday because the display in my laptop died. I chose 3 day shipping, meaning I should have received the screen on Thursday, but it somehow arrived on my doorstep the next day. Extremely impressed there.

The screen itself is gorgeous and once I got it set up, I marveled at the clarity. I've only ever used LCD displays that use CCFL backlights... so the clarity and lack of any dim parts in the picture was obvious for me. The screen started off extremely bright, but after playing around with my nVidia settings and turning the brightness on the panel itself down to around 60%, I found a sweet spot where the display isn't too bright, but white is still white. Being a Web Designer, this was very important for me.

After viewing the screen for a while, however, I noticed that there is a very subtle defect on the left 1/4th of the screen that appears as vertical scan lines on bright, solid colors. It's extremely faint, but it's just noticeable enough that I can't unsee it. I'm starting to get used to it, but it is a very annoying defect and I'm debating whether or not I want to RMA it and hopefully receive a replacement without the defect, or if I just want to deal with it. This is why I'm giving the screen 3 eggs instead of 5.

I mentioned lack of HDMI and VESA mounting in the cons. These are cons, but I would have still given the display 5 eggs without them, because I knew what I was purchasing before I bought the screen. I clearly saw that there is no way to mount the screen from the images provided, and the specifications clearly state that there is no HDMI compatibility.

Overall, it's a nice screen... I really wish it didn't have the previously mentioned defect, though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Great Looking monitor with an incredible better price. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Cons: Took me a few minutes to figure out the stand, but I was probably just trying to be too delicate. I blame the user not the monitor.
