3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: LED Backlighting is gorgeous and crystal clear.
It's very thin and lightweight.
Produces a low amount of heat.

Cons: Strange scanline effect on left-most part of screen.
No HDMI, though I knew this when I purchased.
Inability to mount the screen in any way. Once again, knew this before purchase.

Other Thoughts: First of all, I would like to say Newegg was amazing here. I ordered the display along with a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 on Monday because the display in my laptop died. I chose 3 day shipping, meaning I should have received the screen on Thursday, but it somehow arrived on my doorstep the next day. Extremely impressed there.

The screen itself is gorgeous and once I got it set up, I marveled at the clarity. I've only ever used LCD displays that use CCFL backlights... so the clarity and lack of any dim parts in the picture was obvious for me. The screen started off extremely bright, but after playing around with my nVidia settings and turning the brightness on the panel itself down to around 60%, I found a sweet spot where the display isn't too bright, but white is still white. Being a Web Designer, this was very important for me.

After viewing the screen for a while, however, I noticed that there is a very subtle defect on the left 1/4th of the screen that appears as vertical scan lines on bright, solid colors. It's extremely faint, but it's just noticeable enough that I can't unsee it. I'm starting to get used to it, but it is a very annoying defect and I'm debating whether or not I want to RMA it and hopefully receive a replacement without the defect, or if I just want to deal with it. This is why I'm giving the screen 3 eggs instead of 5.

I mentioned lack of HDMI and VESA mounting in the cons. These are cons, but I would have still given the display 5 eggs without them, because I knew what I was purchasing before I bought the screen. I clearly saw that there is no way to mount the screen from the images provided, and the specifications clearly state that there is no HDMI compatibility.

Overall, it's a nice screen... I really wish it didn't have the previously mentioned defect, though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Great Looking monitor with an incredible better price. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Cons: Took me a few minutes to figure out the stand, but I was probably just trying to be too delicate. I blame the user not the monitor.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Alrighty, for the "pros"... Crystal clear resolution, reliable, highly customizable. I haven't had one single problem out of this monitor, performance-wise. It takes up little space on my very crowded desk, but...

Cons: for some reason, likes to show videos (and some photos) very, very darkly.

I have to turn up gamma resolution very high on certain kinds of movies (think Dark Knight kind of stuff, with lots of dimly lit scenes), so much so that nothing looks quite right.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor from a great manufacturer.

Pros: Crisp graphics at 1080p video resolutions.

Customer support is the best I've ever dealt with.

Cons: After about 3 or 4 months of using the monitor I turned my PC on and saw large white lines all across my screen. After being told to return the monitor to the manufacturer by Newegg customer support (because my 30 day return warranty had expired), I then spoke with a nice Acer customer support member and was given easy, specific instructions for shipping my monitor off for repair and after doing so received a new monitor at no cost (besides a small shipping fee for sending them the monitor)

4 out of 5 eggsVERY GOOD but read this

Pros: perfect for the price, awesome little monitor, high quality built, sleek look. looks awesome using dvi. colors are pretty accurate(i use photoshop and other adobe editing programs).
if this is in your price range get it!

Cons: i have had this monitor for like a year and 4 months, and i have a dead pixel!!! which to be honest is really ridiculous. i think i have used this monitor a lot! but not enough to have a dead pixel. my use in general is probably 8 hours a day, give or take a few hours and i never leave this thing on when im not using it. its a sad day because once you notice a dead pixel, you can never unsee it. to me this a pretty big disappointment, im grieving the day more pop up. i love acer and im getting another S series monitor soon to dual screen, but i am a little hesitant because of this experience and for that i take away an egg. Sorry acer </3 ;_;. im going asus next time around.

Other Thoughts: if you are building a computer and are only buying one monitor, i suggest buying a 23"-24" because with this 21" i find my self wanting a little bit more monitor especially when gaming or watching a movie, etc.......
