5 out of 5 eggsgreat monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: One of the better IPS monitors i have seen. Granted you don't get a defective one ( I didn't) you will not be disappointed. 60Hz refresh on this guy if you didnt know, which is average, and what most monitors have, unless you pay alot more money. I have had this guy for a year now, and absolutely no problems with it , not one. I got it for $120 on sale and was the best purchase of my life.

Cons: 2 cons:
1) the buttons to adjust settings are a little weirdly place
2) the stand is sturdy, but wobbles a little

Other Thoughts: in all, if you buy this monitor under $160, you are getting an AMAZING monitor, if you are paying more, wait for it to go on sale, because you may be able to find a little better one.

5 out of 5 eggsGood monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Got it on sale with a good value
IPS panel with nice view angles
Low cost energy consumption
Good colors

Cons: The button on the lower corner is not a good place to be located, and there is no indication of which button to determine what each button does expect the on/off button. Had to turn on the monitor to individually check on each buttons functions.

Other Thoughts: I give it 5* due to got it during a sale at $129.99 and it's a good Monitor so far which I don't have much of an issue but those buttons.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat all around monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: -low cost, great value
-good size 23.8inch
-1080p
-IPS!!! :D awesome accurate colors!
-very slim and good looking
-magnet on the base (i use it to hold mouse weights)
-buttons and menus are decent

Cons: -5ms is noticeable in games, but not a big deal
-60hz is not as smooth as 120 or 144 hz monitors, but you get ips colors instead. I think it's worth it.
-Whine for the first few months of use (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Games still look great on this monitor despite 5ms and 60hz!

-- I noticed that on bright white pages, the monitor would make a quiet, high-pitched whine. This went away after a few months of use. Not a deal breaker.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Eyefinity/Surround

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: I ordered three of these monitors to setup in eyefinity for gaming, and was blown away at the build quality considering the price. The colors are very good, much richer than other panels I have used in the past, and all three monitors seemed to have similar color tuning out of the box. Putting all three side-by-side, it looks like a huge sheet of glass spread across my desktop, and the bezel is so thin I don't even notice it in most games.

Cons: The monitors are slightly lopsided out of the box, and multiple together will look as if they are at different heights, but after given a bit of force, they will straighten out. The downside during use that I have noticed is that the splash screens on startup take about 5 seconds, longer than I would like to wait. There is no VESA mount compatibility, but that isn't an issue for me as they all sit on my desk.

Other Thoughts: If you want to get three monitors for gaming, these are your best option on the market, especially for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid 1080p monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Thin bezels, super bright, nice colors, sharp text, and is DDC, so you can use Windows applications to control the brightness.

Cons: I have a little bit of IPS glow/bleed/whatever-its-called in the bottom left corner. The menu navigation is total trash, but luckily it has DDC so you can use an application on your computer to change the brightness, though I wish the screen could go a little darker.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: For the price these monitors are not bad, if they work for more than half a year.

Cons: I bought 3 and one started having visual defects on the screen in 3 months, another one went 4 months later, and now the last one just started having the same visual effects. The left 1/3 of the screen starts turning a different color and has lines running up it.

Other Thoughts: I managed to eventually get a replacement from acer (customer support site sucks) for the first one and they sent me the wrong monitor back in return.

If it was only one of the 3 that stopped working correctly then I would have rated it higher because I would have figured I got a bad one out of my 3, but since all 3 have done it I believe it is a flaw with the model in general.

5 out of 5 eggsA discovery!

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Ok so the pros are that these monitors are extremely sleek and just look astonishing on the desk. The bezel from the monitor as you can probably tell from in the pictures is pretty much non existent except for the bottom part. On top of being low cost compared to other monitors in the same price range, these come with all the connections you would probably use to connect it to your PC. Another thing that might be a pro is that the base of the monitor has a little image of a clip, and this part is actually a magnet within the base itself; so if you are maybe working around your PC and don't want to loose some screws, the monitor has got you covered. I use these monitors for gaming, and those that say that the response time isn't' fast enough or that an IPS panel is not good for gaming, well they might be right but I don't notice the difference!. My gaming is the same I do not feel that the monitors hinder my gaming performance at all.

Cons: Alright so now on the the cons. These monitors are not mountable to any type of arm, since they are missing the screws on the back of the screen. The monitors can only tilt, you will not be able to adjust the height of the monitors at all, zero! These monitors are not anti glare, so if you have your desk pointing away from the window in such a way that the sun will hit the monitors, then you can definitely expect some glare. While I did previously state that the monitors did not have a bezel (or was almost non existent, the display does not actually reach the border of the monitor, instead the image is about a 1/4" form the bezel. Now on to my last minor complaint and then on to the big one! The buttons on this monitor feel flimsy, they wiggle in the little slot that they are, and can sometimes be hard to press. PLEASE READ OTHER THOUGHTS IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING TWO OR MORE OF THESE MONITORS FOR DOUBLE OR SURROUND DISPLAY.

Other Thoughts: OK so here is what I did, I was looking for monitors at Newegg, and happened to stumble on these. I thought they were good enough so I decided to buy two of them. When they arrived they were all intact, I built the base attached it to the monitor "simple setup" and then I got to putting the monitors side by side... and this is where there was an issue. One monitor was at least 1/2" higher than the other monitor (or so I thought). I destroyed some cardboard and put it underneath the monitor that I thought was short so that I would have a nice double display. After about a week while fixing my desktop (not pc) around for a better set up, I happened to notice something weird about these monitors. When putting the monitors side by side one was taller than the other one, and then when I switched the monitor places the same thing happened (one was shorter than the other). I thought this was odd, for how can it be that the taller monitor is now shorter than the other one? So I decided to check with a leveler whether or not the screens were leveled. What I found was that both monitors were tilted slightly to the Right!, which made me think that one of these monitors was shorter than the other when putting them side by side. Just to make sure that the leveler was right, I measured the right hand side of the screen with a measuring tape, and then I measured the left hand side. The measurements were Right: 15 3/4", Left: 16". I didn't notice that the monitors were this crocked for an entire week, and probably would have never figured it out had I not been messing around with my desktop. Now I think that this is too much of a coincidence, since both of my monitors measured the same 15 3/4" on the right and 16" on the right when measuring from the bottom of my floor to the top bezel of the monitor. Now what I did to remedy this slope on my monitors was to put some folded paper between the neck and base of the monitor on the right hand side to make that side higher. After some tinkering around with the display unscrewing putting more pieces of paper in and redoing, I finally got my display to be leveled! My advice to you is just to not expect these monitors to be leveled, or possibly even to be of the same height! If you do happen to notice that one monitor is higher than the other just check whether or not the monitors are leveled, and then apply the fix I did to make them look nice and leveled, I hope this review helped you make a decision for all in all I would still buy them again, and in fact I am about to order another one :).

4 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Buck When Purchased

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Decent price point for having HDMI and LED Backlighting.

Cons: A bit slanted on the blue side at first opening, adjust your setting as soon as you have it set up.

Other Thoughts: Bright but too blue at first. Calibration helped but still a bit blue for my tastes. I suppose for the price it can't be a deal breaker. When will we see AMOLED Monitors?
