3 out of 5 eggsGood quality picture, bad quality build

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: The picture is great, the monitor looks very nice, brightness is good, I'm happy with everything about the display itself

Cons: 1. The stand/mount is terrible, and the monitor wobbles a lot.
2. The buttons on my monitor have completely stopped working after probably six months. Can't turn my monitor on or off, and I can't access the menu to adjust monitor settings. Have to use third party software to adjust brightness.

Other Thoughts: At least it's NEC. Quality control should be improved.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: This monitor looks great and seems to respond well. I used it to replace one of the Pro series Dell LCD's from 9 years ago. There was no software included, it just uses the OS driver. Stand assembly was easy as well. Instructions not even needed.

Cons: There is no vesa mount for this monitor. Not a deal breaker for most, but just be aware. This monitor uses a power brick, and the power brick has a non-standard power cable. I much prefer standard power cables when possible, so I have deducted one 'egg' for that.

Other Thoughts: I got this guy on sale, at the same price that the 22" was going for. It was an outstanding deal.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for Your Buck

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: In spite of some of the negative views concerning things such as the buttons on the bottom, the energy star logo, and so on, the monitor is actually decent for the price.

Here's some of the things I like about it:
-the amazing sleek design
-the thin edges on the monitor
-the included HDMI, VGA, and DVI cables
-magnetic stand for paper clips and such
-nice ability to tilt screen
-space conservative

Cons: Here are some popular cons:
-buttons being on the bottom of the monitor
-energy star logo on bootup

Other Thoughts: I feel that although these cons are present, it is not something to lose an egg over. This is just my personal opinion. The quality of the monitor is amazing, and is definitely less expensive than monitors of its price range. Definitely would buy again (and might in the future).

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: price is good for the specs. looks just as good if not better then my asus. Very clean looking.

Cons: Only 1 hdmi

Other Thoughts: First one came with scratchs on the screen. Newegg paid for shipping and I had a new one in about a week. No scratchs and not dead pixels.

5 out of 5 eggsbang for my buck

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: -beautifully crafted, for its price
-very high resolution of both gaming and work
-power button led light is pointed downward, so that its light doesn't shine against the user. at the same time, it creates this cool looking blue light on my table.
-very sturdy stand, it's materials are not cheaply made, along with a nice finish.

Cons: -some really small dead pixel was spotted, when carefully examined the screen. but I fix so no egg taken.
-newegg did not package the monitor when they ship the item, meaning the item was laying in front of my door, with nothing to cover the item box for hours before I get back home from work. other people could have taken it.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing picture

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Picture quality is outstanding, especially for the price. Colors are some of the best I've seen- my old monitor was a TN, but I have seen other IPS panels. The blacks are dark, not quite pitch black like you will see on the newer AMOLED screens, but darker even than other LEDs I have seen. Really, this monitor is awesome.

Cons: The only thing that bugs me about this monitor, and I know it's a small thing, the monitor takes longer to boot up than my computer. That might sound ridiculous, but I'm not kidding. First it displays the Acer logo, then the energy efficiency logo. My computer is already at the login screen at this point. It was originally scanning through the different inputs as well, but I think I fixed that... somehow.

Other Thoughts: Would easily be 5 eggs, if it were not for the boot screen(s).

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Everything else is fine.

Cons: Turning it on and off was always a pain with how the buttons are on the bottom of the monitor.

But now? The on/off button stopped working. Buyer beware.

4 out of 5 eggsNice monitor with budget build

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: 1. My first glossy screened monitor. The first impression is actually really nice, great picture quality, shiny
2. Quite thin bezel is a plus
3. A little magnet on the base is a nice touch

Cons: The only con I have on Acer monitors is the buttons positioning and the pressure it needs for actuation. They seem to be very tough to press. Just my personal preference.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat viewing angles & connections, not so great color

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: This display has great vertical and horizontal viewing angles. I can't see any variation in the gamma as I move around. The best monitor I've owned for viewing angles by far. I have 2 of these and love them both for this reason alone. However, it also supports both HDMI and DVI and for those times I'm dealing with ancient tech, a VGA port. Finally, the display is really thin, and glossy -- great aesthetics that way.

Cons: The green output on the monitor is a bit yellow and not nearly as vibrant as other displays I've seen. There appears to be no good way to improve this. It appears to be inherent in the display's physics I think. This makes truer color reproduction difficult to get, but it's still pretty good.

Other Thoughts: There are no built-in speakers on this monitor even though it takes HDMI. But there is a built-in volume control that I haven't tested. I'm impressed that it's there even though there are no speakers. Sound comes in through HDMI then out through standard headphone jack to speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsIPS LED, 1080p @ 77Hz

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Vibrant Colors, Great Contrast, Sharp Image. Deep blacks with minimal light bleed. Gloss screen is very beneficial to the color and contrast. Screen is bright enough to see on the brightest of days, even with the gloss. Very low heat output compared to CFL-lit monitors.

I use this monitor for CAD work and light gaming. With a GTX 780 I am able to push this monitor all the way up to 77Hz @ 1080p on HDMI1.3. The extra 17Hz makes a world of difference. Windows drag across the desktop without jitter or ghosting. Video motion is crisp and life-like. Couple the vivid color of IPS with the enhanced refresh rate and games like BF4 turn into a liquid-smooth dream! I have been running this monitor overclocked for close to a year with no problems. The frame rate has been tested with high-speed photography, it is a true 77Hz without a single skipped frame.

I purchased this monitor locally and got it on sale. Gave myself a kick in the but for not buying two more! Would and probably will purchase again for full face value, it is worth every penny.

Cons: No VESA mount screw holes.
Stand can be a little wobbly.
Magnet messed up my PP debit card. (Do not lay any magnetic strip cards near the little raised paperclip on the base!)

Other Thoughts: Color Calibrate, Color Calibrate, Color Calibrate! No matter how vivid the IPS color may seem when you first plug it in. It is a guarantee the color you are seeing is very in-accurate compared to it's real life counterpart. Most people never touch the Windows color calibration. It is not limited to digital artists. Go ahead and calibrate. You will see a tremendous difference!

You will need a 5,6,7 or 9 series Nvidia gpu and a high quality HDMI or DVI cable to achieve a good overclock. Create a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel. Be prepared to learn about front porch, sync width and pixel clock. All these settings will need to be adjusted so the video bandwidth falls within spec of the monitor's HDMI/DVI ports. (Mine is just shy of 174.00MHz, any more crashes the monitor) You may be able to achieve this with an AMD gpu, but it involves work-a-rounds and driver trickery. No guarantee.

OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK. I have pulled the EDID info out of Windows registry for this monitor, it states a maximum refresh of 76Hz. Acer however, coded the internal Realtek chip to set a driver limit of 60Hz. There is no guarantee you will gain even a single extra frame.

OVERCLOCKING CAN DESTROY THIS MONITOR. WARRANTY WILL VOID. THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY OVERCLOCKING A MONITOR IS UNIQUE. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HIDE IT FROM THE MANUFACTURER!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED FRIEND!
