5 out of 5 eggsAcer B6 B246HYL ymdpr Black 23.8" 6ms height&pivot adjustable Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS-panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1(1000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: I got this monitor on a sale for 150 dollars and I couldn't be anymore pleased with it. It has a high quality panel with a high default resolution. Gaming on it is beautiful. The stand has all the adjustments you would ever need and the installation was a breeze. Someone mentioned that it didn't come with instructions but in my case the instructions were actually printed on the box itself. A great buy for anyone who can catch this monitor on sale easily worth its normal price tag.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good static image quality and all the good things about IPS, has DVI, has audio over DisplayPort, nice fully adjustable stand. Only slight light bleed / IPS glow from bottom left. Huge discount when I got it. Supports 76Hz refresh rate via EDID override (for ATI & NV gfx cards).

Cons: Shows noticeable inverse ghosting (overshoot) presumably due to pixel overdrive too high.

When dragging a window around, dark text on light background will show a bright trailing shadow. Also shows in panning scenes in videos, and in game scenes such as dark silhouette moving against light sky or background.

Tried different computers through different ports and 50Hz-76Hz refresh rate and all showed same problem. Pixel overdrive can't be turned off, not even in the hidden service menu, which can be reached by holding down the left most button while turning monitor on, then open regular menu, and move up into the new "F" menu.

Other Thoughts: My unit also had dirt at 150px left, 980px down, about 3x2 pixels big between back light and screen so I'm hoping for a replacement that wouldn't have the inverse ghosting problem, as I do like everything else about this monitor. Also don't expect too much of monitor integrator speakers.

Last thought: manufacturers should have decently priced 16:10 and especially 1600p monitors like 5 years ago. Desktop monitors are at an awkward price peak over small 4K TVs and high resolution laptops/tablets/portables.

1 out of 5 eggsDefect right out of box

Pros: None

Cons: This Acer monitor is defect right out of the box as it shows a thin quite visible line right in the middle of the screen from top to bottom to divide the screen equally into 1/2. Such an obvious defect should never pass a rigorous quality control. Hence, it suggests that Acer has extremely poor quality control of their products as well as poor manufacturing process.

Other Thoughts: Fortunately, we can return this defect Acer monitor to Newegg for a replacement. Pray for the next shipping is NOT a defect product.
Don't trust Acer product now as it is my first Acer purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsBest monitors ever

Pros: Perfect size and resolution for side-by-side landscape real estate. These monitors (I bought two at $150ea) are bright (not too bright as a previous reviewer suggested) and beautiful! The brightness and contrast is uniform across the entire display. Both of mine came with 0 dead pixels - I plugged one into a mini-HDMI to DVI-D converter and another into a displayport on my Intel NUC and they behaved completely as would be expected for dual digital displays.

The stands allow pretty much any kind of orientation or adjustment you could want; the monitors themselves accept DP, DVI-D and VGA. The only thing I'd do differently is just to get rid of the speakers, and put in maybe a USB hub on each. No stars off for that.

These are, by far, the best inexpensive monitors (and really, expensive ones don't offer much that these don't) I've ever purchased. If you can get them for under $200, buy them today.

Suffice it to say that you will NOT be disappointed for the cash.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I would like to buy another half dozen of these and give them away as presents. They are amazing.

2 out of 5 eggsLess than I expected.

Pros: Price. I bought this with an immediate $100 off. Now I know why it was so cheap.

The stand seems sturdy enough, and has swivel, height, and a limited amount of leveling.

Cons: When you open the box, there's a multi-language manual. The first instruction is 'Attach monitor to stand', but there's no explanation how to do this.

FIrst fired up, the picture is way off. Colors are attrocious! Reading text is next to impossible. Brightness so high you can't even get started with calibration, and oh that brightness... it'll blow you outta your chair!

On board settings are in the lower right corner. Using these is terribly difficult. the buttonas are extrememble sensitive. Again, no info on how to use them. They're difficult to use. One click turns into 2 or 3 clicks.

Color calibration is next to impossible. I now have it reasonably correct. But with Windows 7 calibration, the on board calibration buttons, and and the nVidia panel, I fought this thing for 5 hours to get it to look fairly correct. This thing should ship with a free monitor calibrator, such as Spyder! I work in graphic arts. This monitor refuses to set and hold it's settings. If it doesn't settle down in 3 days, Newegg can have it back.

The onboard settings are confusing and the buttons terribly sensitive. No instructions come with it to tell you how to use them. Also, these could be lit with LEDs so that you can see them. Acer is too cheap to include one on each button.

Fired it up this morning. It takes 20-30 minutes for the thing to warm up. CRTs don't do this. Colors shift like crazy during this time. I hope it lands where i set it!

Other Thoughts: Stand doesn't have any thumb screws for keeping monitor at specific height. I wonder how long the stand will last.

The Legal Terms are come on a sheet of paper that is about 4x6 inches, and its all written in 6pt font.

Bottom line, this monitor lacks in many respects, especially color calibration. Don't buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Pros: Extremely sharp image and plays video great. But the field is tight in terms of image quality, and you should expect it to be good.

However, stand quality varies enormously. Some monitors are too wobbly and can't be adjusted much. This is the best stand I've seen in a monitor which wasn't outrageously expensive. It's stable and you can adjust it rather precisely. It works great in portrait mode, which is nice because that is how I planned to use it.

The material quality feels great too. I like the front-facing buttons and a redunant power button on the back which is satisfyingly solid.

Overall I would say this particular monitor wipes the floor with other models I've owned before from Asus and Dell.

Cons: None that I would endorse with what I currently know.

Some might not consider it very stylish, but I am not looking for a monitor to be a sculpture.

The other reviewer says the speakers are lousy, but I haven't used them and I never will. To my experience, ALL monitor speakers are lousy.

Other Thoughts: I ordered this from Newegg on Monday and selected the 3-business day shipping. It was delivered to my door on Wednesday. Scary fast!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat picture, great stand

Pros: Excellent picture quality. These are being used in an office, so I can't speak to gaming or movies but they excel at excel (and other text based programs).

The stand really sets this monitor apart from the competition in it's price category among IPS monitors. Being able to adjust the height, tilt etc is key for desktop use. And they are really stable.

Cons: The speakers are absolute garbage. For this price, speakers would just be a bonus so I didn't knock off an 'egg' - but plan on using other speakers.

Other Thoughts: Aesthetically, the design is nothing special but nothing bad either. It is a monitor. The outer frame is a darker charcoal gray than shown on the picture here, which is a good thing IMO.
