4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor, awsome value

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: Great resolution
Color Clarity
Ease of Installation

Cons: Horizontal cable attachments
Bottom mounted control buttons

Other Thoughts: This is a great monitor, I only have two issues. The power and video cable attach horizontally on the back of the monitor meaning the cables interfere with placements in tight spaces. Secondly, the control function button are on the bottom of the screen bezel which makes it difficult to figure out which button to use. Also, to apply sufficient pressure to depress the button cause the monitor to move. Minor annoyances, but worth mentioning. Lastly, the shipping service New Egg used sucked, and almost resulted in the destruction of this monitor. It was raining and dark and I almost drove over the top of the monitor in my driveway because the delivery driver just dropped it in my driveway. Yes, it was wrapped in plastic but I could not see it and water still started to get into the box, but luckily did not get to the monitor. That is a future consideration for me when deciding to purchase from New Egg if they continue to use the same shipper, it might compel me to choose differently.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Large IPS

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: Very large, glossy, IPS, Viewing angles, Color accuracy, bright, nice for gaming

Cons: Stand is not the best but it will do, also no VESA mounts but i don't need them anyways

Other Thoughts: After buying a 27 inch monitor I can never go back to a smaller size. Games look great. If you need a BIG IPS monitor for gaming buy this when its on sale for 195, you cant beat it.

3 out of 5 eggsIncompetent Tech Support Stuck Me with a Defective Monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: Large monitor, conservative bezel, HDMI

Cons: No Display Port, Inputs are high on the back, base feels flimsy, glares easily

The monitor has ghosting on the boundaries between high and low-contrast areas. For example, scrolling a webpage with light text on a darker background. This problem disappears with the monitor set to high levels of brightness and contrast but those settings very quickly begin to irritate my eyes so it is not a fix.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Acer Technical Support and spoke to a representative who was clearly had English as a second language, and was struggling to understand my issue. I described the problem very clearly in the Cons section. I gave a similar description to the rep.

Even with her poor English skills, the rep was able to understand the problem I was having and opened a repair ticket. I agreed to ship the monitor from California to their repair center in Texas (which cost me $30 for the cheapest ground option plus insurance) under the pretense that it would be repaired and returned to me.

The monitor took a week to get to Texas, and spent another week at the Acer center, including two days marked as "Under Repair" in their Customer Care web interface, but was returned to me (with another week of shipping) with the message that they were unable to identify the problem after "intensive burn-in testing". The monitor still exhibits this issue.

To be clear: my old monitor, which was an IPS panel with an 8ms response time, did not have this problem. This monitor is advertised with a 5ms response time. Both are grey-to-grey.

I was never contacted by the Acer repair center asking for more information or for methods to reproduce the issue. The tech support rep did not ask for this information and I feel that her inadequate English skills led directly to the failure of the repair center to identify the issue because she did not clearly describe the problem. She misspelled my email when I gave it to her letter-by-letter, and the problem description she wrote is nearly impossible to comprehend.

I try to be very patient and clear with tech support personnel. I know they have to deal with some difficult people sometimes; my dad is one of them. But this is pure incompetence and lack of diligence on the part of Acer tech support and repair staff. I will never contact Acer for repair service again. I'm out $30 and 3 weeks of my time and lost productivity, and I'm still stuck with a defective monitor.

I'm going to try to live with this, and if not, I will be RMAing the monitor with NewEgg. In contrast to other stories about them in some reviews, the NewEgg service staff haven't disappointed me yet after several RMAs on different products. And it's much faster and cheaper to ship the monitor back to them.

To Acer, who I know will have a PR rep reply to this review: I want my $30 back and a new, working monitor shipped to me at no cost, and you can have this one back if you pay the shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsLove except for a problem

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: The monitor looks and the resolution is crisp and it was well worth the money. This is my second ACER in 2 years I also have a H274HL that sits beside it. So I'm committed to Acer.

Cons: The monitor won't hold the configuration from my nVidia drivers. I installed the very latest but still if I reboot the settings are gone. So I reset them again. I think it is the driver. I checked to see if there was a firmware update or something from Acer but there is none.

Other Thoughts: The monitor when configured is that good I'll put up with the configuration dropping on reboot. I think I'd have to pay hundreds more to get this quality.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor!

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: IPS - 1080p - All the necessary cables - Bright - Lots of options - Huge display - Thin bezel - Tiltable stand - Perfect viewing angles - 5ms response time - Easy to put together and get going - Glass screen is a pro for me because I like shiny things and do everything in the dark anyway. Plus, I don't have a window facing my computer.

Cons: Buttons are on the bottom right on the underside of the screen. It's a horrible placement for them and it moves the screen significantly when trying to use them. I have to hold the top right of the screen to use them properly. They're also quite flimsy and seem like they're going to break if I keep using them too much. It would be better if this came with a small remote with simple functions like an Apple TV remote.

Other Thoughts: At first glance I thought it was kind of dim. Then I turned on my light and looked back at the screen. It was still absolutely clear. I also tried comparing it to my 39" TV screen which I was using as a monitor before. The differences are there, and they both are great displays, but my TV screen did have a more attractive color to it. It might be because it was $70~ dollars more expensive and the screen is made by Samsung. In the end though, the Acer H6 has the better response time and is neater looking overall. If I had to choose one of the two, I would stick with my new 27" Acer.

I'm still kind of annoyed at the button placement, though. Seriously, a remote would be freaking amazing. It doesn't have to be a super remote. Just something with up, down, left, right, and enter.

And one last thing, if you plan on using this mounted on a wall, it doesn't have the back placements for it. It's only viable as a standing monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade from a 22" TN

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: IPS Monitor 27inch with 5ms under $200

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I was going to wait until BF and shoot for a 1440P IPS but at this point in gaming not much will run at 1440P unless you like low frame rates. I'm just shooting for 1080P @ 60FPS

5 out of 5 eggsThree of them now

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: I previously bought one of these about 6 months ago and saw they were selling at $209 so I figured I'd add 2 more to replace my smaller monitors to have a matching set. All 3 have had no dead/stuck pixels and are consistent. Also includes audio/hdmi/dvi/vga cables which I can use for other devices.

Cons: Glossy nature makes it virtually unusable with direct sunlight, so if a window is facing your monitor don't get this. Also brighter than average, "eco" mode makes it more reasonable.

Other Thoughts: People have complained about the base previously but it seems to do the job for me.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer 27" IPS Monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: Very nice IPS monitor, vibrant colors, clean text and great viewing angle. Lowest price of any 27" IPS monitor (bought on sale). No bad pixel. HDMI works properly. Built-in speakers. Tilt adjustable. Looks great and thin.

Cons: Nothing specific to this model, but most monitor built-in speakers perform worse than iPad speakers.

Other Thoughts: Newegg free shipping was very fast and in the original package and the monitor arrived in perfect condition. All the pixels are good, and all the cables are included.

5 out of 5 eggsUnreal for the price paid

This review is from: Acer H6 H276HLbmid Black 27" 5ms HDMI IPS panel Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: Shut up and take my money! I got this IPS for 189.99 on sale here at the egg, the colors and quality on this monitor make my 23in TN look black and white. 0 dead pix, and you get all three interface cords (they are pretty short), but thats unheard of for the most part these days. Great Job Acer!

Cons: I didn't get 2

Other Thoughts: I didn't try out the speakers, but even if they aren't very good it's still a 5 egg monitor especially if you can catch it on sale.
I don't have the wobble as some reviews have posted, If your floor shakes or your desk is unstable you may see this. Once again get this and you won't regret it!
