5 out of 5 eggsNothing amazing to see here, except the display

Pros: - Gorgeous IPS panel
- Significantly lower price than other 27" 2K IPS monitors
- Unobtrusive styling

Cons: - Way too bright out of the box, not uncommon for monitors
- Thick glossy black bezel, feels kind of cheap
- Wobble wobble wobble, even a slight move has the monitor flopping all over the place

Other Thoughts: Absolutely incredible 2K display for less -- if you don't mind the thick bezel and the wobble this is a great buy.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother NewEgg "Deal"

Pros: Wow, a $300 2K monitor WITH speakers!

Cons: Yeah, too bad the speakers DON'T WORK! What a "great deal"

Other Thoughts: UPDATE: 3/14/16
A scant seven months later and the speakers have crapped out on the SECOND of this model I've received. So, lesson learned. Don't expect audio from a monitor, buy separate speakers. I'd intended to anyway, but wanted the built in speakers for temporary use until I get the speaker package I want, just not this temporary. Chances are, I won't buy an Acer product again.

I love how many items I've purchased in the last month that either don't work, or come with terrible customer service (from the manufacturer, this isn't Newegg's fault)

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice monitor and excellent price

Pros: I recently purchased this monitor on sale. It produces a very nice picture, certainly as good or better than my previous Dell U2412M. I’m enjoying the larger size and the color is terrific. Color was fine with no color management applied and still fine with an .icc profile applied which I found off the internet. The only trouble I had was with Windows 10 properly recognizing the new monitor. My video card has two DVI connections - DVI-I and DVI-D. Text was pixilated using the DVI-I connection which I initially used. I switched to the DVI-D connection and the problem disappeared. Not sure why. I'm using the recommended 2560 x 1440 resolution. It produces a very bright picture out of the box (100%) and I turned it all the way down to 30%. Attaching the base was easy.

Cons: The on screen menu system is confusing and takes a while to learn. The loudness of the speakers were so low as to be unusable. Probably defective. Connected my audio output to a different speaker which most likely sounds better anyway from what I have read from other reviews.

Other Thoughts: Recommended with the proviso that other speaker arrangements will likely be needed.

2 out of 5 eggsAt this price range, I expected better quality.

Pros: High resolution, built-in speakers, two HDMI, DisplayPort cable included.
The nicest thing about this monitor is that it does NOT have a loathsome glossy finish like so many monitors do. I really appreciate this feature. I like to be able to see my work... not my reflection. If I want to see my reflection, I have a mirror for that already. So, this is a good feature on this monitor.

Cons: Shuts off randomly for about 2 seconds, then turns back on. It does this at least once a month. It's not too annoying, but at this price this should NEVER happen.
Sometimes I see small, stripe-shaped glitches on screen, but not very frequently. They go away almost instantaneously.
It came with a displayport cable, but since no laptops come with displayport yet, I had to buy my own HDMI cable. Once again, at this price range, that is a ridiculous thing to omit.
The monitor often makes electrical buzzing sounds coming from the back.
This feels more like a low budget monitor that is really big.
I wouldn't recommend this product. I've used $110 monitors that didn't have any of these glitches, even from this same manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: There are probably better alternatives out there.

5 out of 5 eggsLovely screen. Great price.

Pros: Very pleased with the quality of the display. It replaces an iMac that I was using in target display mode (just as a monitor). I actually feel like it's better than the iMac. The price is very good. Acer is a reputable brand. No flaws with the LCD. Colors out of the box were terrific. Very bright. Very sharp. It came with a Displayport cable.

Cons: Honestly, none. If you actually put the base together right (it needs some force from above to snap it into fully locked position) the base is not at all flimsy. Zero wobble on my sturdy desk.

Other Thoughts: Plan on hooking this up to a VESA mount. Tempted to buy another.

5 out of 5 eggsBeen using for 4 months now.

Pros: So I was a little nervous about buying this monitor with so few reviews (at the time) and after using this thing for a while I was pleasantly supersized.

1. The viewing angles are stellar. No matter what angle I set the monitor at with my versa mount I can't really get the imagine to distort or skew in some way.

2. The colors and brightness, wow. Out of the box color and saturation settings are ok.. and does not give the full potential of what's laying beneath. With some tweaking I was able to get a bright screen with gorgeous deep blacks and full white whites. And the colors stand out in a way that pleases the artist in me. Everything is so rich especially when playing an immersive RPG game.

3. The size is perfect for a 1440p screen. The same is harder to say for a 1080p panel at the same size. Nothing seems blurry and ghosting has been barely noticeable.

I thought I got a dead pixel after a month of use but it was just stuck and has since unstuck. So officially no dead pixels upon arrival and since.

Cons: (The following complaints are not real problems I had with the monitor but just things to consider.)

1. Fat bezel's and a shiny shimmery look on the plastic ruin the aesthetics of the monitor. The fact that its on my versa mount means I have to touch the monitor daily and boy does it pick up my finger prints.

2. The menu is stupid. Seriously can't they hire a single UI consultant to give them tips or pointers? The buttons and how you navigate are confusing to say the least.

3. Wish the MS response time was a smidgen better but its a non-issue unless you're trying to be a Pro MLG boom headshot #1 elite gamer. The MS is totally reasonable and is plenty responsive for my personal tastes.

Other Thoughts: Besides the minor and problems I had with this monitor I'm going to judge it based on how it performed. And this panel gets my complete recommendation. If you're an ameture video / photo editor or you're just looking to step up your gaming experience by going 1440p you simply can't go wrong. Good price, solid color recreation and contrast. And them pixels.Mmmm.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Outstanding Monitor... beautiful display. Can't believe the change between 1080p and 1440p. Don't think I'll ever go back to using a 1080p again.

Cons: This is not the one that is on sale for Black Friday.

There are two K272HUL models from Acer; one is IPS and the other is Twisted Nematic. Very deceptive and misleading.

Other Thoughts: Reviewer below me, Wade W. clearly does not know what he is talking about, nor what he is doing. This Monitor supports 1440p on all connections. I am running 1440p though HDMI as are other reviewers further below.

I suspect Wade either typed his review for the wrong K272HUL model; or he is using the wrong type of cable or his video card does not support the resolution through the ports he wants to use.

1 out of 5 eggsdeceptive

Pros: see thoughts

Cons: see thoughts

Other Thoughts: This monitor is advertised as 2560 x 1440 resolution per NewEgg specs as well as Acer owner manual. However, it turns out this resolution is only available using Dual Link DVI connector and not over HDMI or even Displayport. Using HDMI or Displayport resolution is limited to 1920x1200. I learned this from a FAQ on Acer's service website. So advertising this as 2560 x 1440 resolution and not stating it's limited to only one type of input is very misleading.

3 out of 5 eggsdead pixels

Pros: I love the monitor.. at least the pixels that work.

Cons: I called Acer tech support, and despite the monitor having 2 dead pixels, they will only honor the warranty of a total of 4 die.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat first 1440p monitor

Pros: Price - I picked this puppy up for $300 plus a $50 mail in rebate. That's $250 for a 27 inch 1440p IPS display. I figured it a good price to dip my toes into the 1440p world and see how my GPU holds up. A GTX 980 with the games I play peg the needle at 60fps. Except skyrim with 4k textures and a very heavy ENB. With Anti-aliasing off (not even noticable unless you're actively looking for it) i get a solid 55 fps with dips down to 45. In the Bee and the Barb in Riften I drop to 15 fps, but there's something going on there that I haven't pinpointed yet.

Packaging - Came very well packaged. Styrofoam surrounded the montior and even a piece of soft foam to fill in the gap between the display and the box. Very nice touch!

Display - I'm coming form a Dell 2407WFPb monitor. I tried to get the Dell u3011 but the one I received was broken and had to be sent back. IPS is beautiful. I do miss the deeper blacks of my old VA panel, but this is still an upgrade. The colors are bright and crisp. I don't have a calibration unit so I've eyeballed it to my liking. I am sure there is room for improvement there. The Matte finish is perfect. I'm not a fan of glossy displays. Sure they look better, but i'm a gamer not a content creator. I'm not interested it seeing my ugly mug looking back at me during loading screens.

Ports and included cables - Came with all ports and cables you could need. DisplayPort, and a dual-link DVI cable. Even came with an audio cable in the rare event you may actually need/want to use the speakers on the display.

Menu - Easy enough to navigate. I only use 1 input, so I never need to change inputs. Everything is easy to understand and I feel there are enough options available to make all necessary changes to whatever you may need.

Cons: Stand - leaves a lot to be desired. It works. I've used monitors with this type of stand for years before, but they aren't really good and look pretty janky. Also there is no sort of cable management options with the stand. So your cables will just sort of have to hang there unless you engineer something with velcro or twist ties or whatever.
This monitor does have VESA mount capabilities, which works perfectly with the VESA adaptor plate I have for my dell monitor stand. Just upgrading the stand to an old Dell stand I had left over from work makes this montior look professional grade.

Buttons - They're buttons. They're not excellent, but they're not bad. They work, but after using the u3011 for a day I really liked the capacitive buttons it had.

Other Thoughts: Bezel - It's piano ultra gloss black. It looks nice until you touch it. then fingerprints stick. You don't notice it ina dark room as the panel is so bright, but when the lights are on or if the blinds are open and the sun is up, you'll notice it. Doesn't bother me, just something to point out.

I dig this monitor. If it goes on sale again for $250 i'd like to pick up another one for the office. Or maybe another 2, just because 1080p is so last decade.
