5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor!

Pros: Upgrading from 1080 to 1440 was incredible. I highly recommend getting this monitor if you are looking to upgrade. I bought it when it was on sale for $299 but I would still buy it at its current $399 price tag. Other reviews have complained about the base stand but I have not had any issues with it. I have not use the speaks on the monitor but other reviews have said their quality is fairly poor for a monitor at this price range. I would say if you can afford this monitor, why do you not have headphones or good speakers for your computer?

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a 1440 monitor, I would highly recommend this one, especially if you can find it on sale!

4 out of 5 eggsDisplay Port not functioning properly

Pros: Price, Size, Pixel's per inch, Color accuracy. No dead pixels!

Cons: My display port does not work, I used the dp cable it came with on my gtx 970 and nothing, Hdmi and Dvi worked fine on maximum resolution, I'm only docking 1 egg for this because I don't need it but still nice to have just incase. I am hoping it's the cable but i highly doubt it.

5 out of 5 eggsRound 2

Pros: After recieving a broken monitor the first time i finally got my monitor and its great. The picture is awesome i got it calibrated to the point that it looks amazing. (hint) Turn the brightness down to about 23 it will reduce the color to the point that its very near perfect. Plays games great been running around far cry 4 having fun. Got it for 299 and i have zero regrets it did suck to get a broken one first and wating almost two weeks to get this one. Still extremely happy.

Cons: It does seem to be brighter in the middle which almost causes a light bleed effect if the brightness is to high. Also for some reason it reports 60 hz as 59.9

Other Thoughts: for 299 its amazing

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy during the now ended sale

Pros: No (lasting) dead pixels. 2560x1440 resolution, flexible input choices, light weight for its size. Impressively sharp scaling when you can't use full resolution (I've never had a 2560x1440 display before and likely that is just expected. But 1920x1200 and lower displays look rotten when scaling a non native resolution). Great looking picture. Included cables.

Cons: (1) The base was VERY hard to detach. I knew from the start that I wanted portrait mode and the base doesn't allow that, and I had read and agree the base isn't very good anyway. On the great sale NewEgg had, it cost far less to buy two of these plus a separate dual monitor arm, than to buy any comparable quality display that supported pivot to portrait mode. But the monitor arm was delayed and I wanted to use the display, so I temporarily attached the base, not realizing how hard it would be to detach.

(2) The labels on the input and output connections are hard to see and I kept getting them wrong as I tried various cabling to test with various display cards (connecting the display port out, when I intended display port in, etc).

(3) The speakers aren't loud enough to be usable. I just want basic sound (voices for online news videos), so quality didn't matter. I thought the cheap speakers in the monitor could avoid the clutter of separate cheap speakers. But it seems that even if you don't care about sound quality, these speakers are just useless.

4) The button and menu interface is quite user vicious. Such vicious menu systems seem to be the rule, not the exception in monitors, so it isn't a con compared to other equally bad ones.

Other Thoughts: What is the story with initially dead pixels? Every high end monitor I've seen arriving from ordinary ship to home methods, including both of these that I just got, had several dead pixels initially. A slight finger pressure on the screen over the dead pixel fixes it. On other monitors that fix was permanent and on these monitors at least so far. I've never seen that kind of dead pixel reoccur. Just dead until the first time you press the screen lightly in that spot, then good from then on.

1 out of 5 eggsNothin But Trouble

Pros: No Dead Pixels,, No Light Bleed, Good Colors,,

Cons: when I hooked it up,, everything went fine,, but if the computer goes into sleep mode,, or I shut down,,, it doesn't maintain the resolution settings,, and starts as 1024 x 768,, or lower,, or sometimes just my icons and windows get resized and moved to the upper left corner,,

t's hooked up using the Display port output using the built in graphics intel HD 4600,, and an I7 4790k processor,,, this configuration Supports DisplayPort 1.2 with max. resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2160) @ 24Hz or 4K x 2K (3840x2160) @ 60Hz

I have tried an HDMI connection,, that didn't help,,

all drivers are up to date,,,

plus changing the registry entries so they all reflect the 2560 x 1440 resolution.. as there were 2 other monitors hooked up to this build,,

An then I tried an old video card I had in another computer,, It has a HDMI output,,, after setting it up, the suggested resolution was 1920 X 1080,, with a max of 1920 X 1200,,,

So to continue on my trouble shooting I pulled out my old IP35pro,, with a 3.0 wolfdale,, And installed the same video card,,, started it up in win 10 preview,, and I get the same 1920 X 1080,, with a max of 1920 X 1200,,,resolution settings..

I rebooted into XP sp3,,SAME COMPUTER,, SAME HARDWARE,, SAME CONNECTIONS,, JUST WIN XP SP3,, INSTEAD OF WIN 8.1 OR 10,,

And it self detects,, adjusts the resolution to 2560 X 1440,, and works perfectly,,

So it’s obviously an issue with this monitor and the newer versions of windows,,,

I also loaded Win 7 on a separate hard-drive,, and when trying to set the resolution my screen went blank and got a notice of no signal,,

Great ,,, so I either send the monitor back and go back to my ASUS with 1920 X 1080,,,

Or put my new computer with an I7 4790K---asrock Z97extreme6—16gig ram—SSD---in the closet,,

and use my old IP35pro,,

Other Thoughts: I tired so hard and so long to get this monitor to work,,
I called and chat,, with support from acer and microsoft,, and of course they blame each other,,
I asked questions on Microsoft forums,, and a few others,,

so now I have to loose 32$ sending it back to NewEgg,, along with ALLOT of time,,,

to bad I liked this monitor,,,

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent monitor

Pros: No dead pixels
Accurate color out of the box, beautiful at 1440p
Sturdy base, feels solid

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I was struggling between getting 1440p or a 120hz monitor, decided to go this one and in retrospect this is the right decision. Everything looks better in 1440p where as 120hz monitors are quite limited to FPS games only.

4 out of 5 eggsnice monitor,,

Pros: looks great,, no dead pixels,,,great resolution,,,

Cons: had a problem with the resolution,,, at times resisted the proper settings,, and with either shutting down or stand by mode,,, upon restarting would loose the settings and revert back to 1280x768 or lower,, spent an hour with acer chat,, there best recommendation was trying the monitor on a different computer,,, my only other computer is 10 yrs old,,, so I decided to try an hdmi connection instead of display port,,, had to go to w-mart an buy a hdmi cable,,, 14+$,,, it seems to have cured the issue,, possibly a bad display port cable,, but time will tell,,,

Other Thoughts: as said before the speakers are worse than bad,,,,
monitor was detected, I set the resolution,, using the Display port output on Win 8.1,, intel HD 4600,,, I7 4790k,, asrock Z97 extreme6 and 16 gigs ram

4 out of 5 eggsGood overal but wish there was more

Pros: -Panel is of good quality, came with no dead pixels and has very little if any bleed.
-Using the "Warm" preset is the best way to get close to proper color calibration for this monitor, without special hardware. Colors are nice to the eyes, nothing feels amiss.
-Matte screen coating helps with glare somewhat, unfortunately not as well as my old screen but I traded it for better color quality.
-Real buttons, I was getting sick of my old Acer's touch activated buttons.
-Same aspect ratio as 1080p so you can still watch 1080p movies in fullscreen without black bars.

Cons: -Speakers started making a hissing noise, had to figure out how to turn the volume down to 0 to make them stop. Thought it was the monitor itself making the noise.
-Large, round stand feels too big for the monitor, and is too tall to put a keyboard over. It comes almost an inch off the desk, and looks a bit odd.
-The stand also has a channel design cut into the front, making it very difficult to clean but also doesn't look quite as bad when it's dirty as a flat surface would.
-Shiny black plastic everywhere. Yep, that's never going to be clean ever again. As with almost all other shiny black plastic, it scratches just by swiping a clean cloth or finger across it. I desperately wish this monitor was made with matte black plastic.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is a great deal for $400... I wouldn't pay $500 for it unless you really needed the extra screen space. Displayport cable included is barely long enough to reach from the top of my desk to the bottom side (its only about 3'), so plan on getting a new one if you buy this monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsStand was difficult to attach

Pros: 1440p is pretty nice. lots of connection options. OSD menus seem ok - lots of settings to tweak.

Cons: glossy monitor housing looks cheap, build quality is below average. My old 20" 2007FP dell ultrasharp is twice as heavy. Really bright out of the box.

Other Thoughts: I just had to write a review for this monitor to help explain how to attach the stand. It sounds like some people are just sitting the panel on the stand w/o getting it to clip in. This is crazy. It attaches the way it looks... here is the catch... it take a decent amount of force. I had to have someone else hold the panel while I pushed the stand into the slot until FINALLY we heard a CLICK and it was locked in place. The instructions were worthless.
