3 out of 5 eggsdead pixels

Pros: I love the monitor.. at least the pixels that work.

Cons: I called Acer tech support, and despite the monitor having 2 dead pixels, they will only honor the warranty of a total of 4 die.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat first 1440p monitor

Pros: Price - I picked this puppy up for $300 plus a $50 mail in rebate. That's $250 for a 27 inch 1440p IPS display. I figured it a good price to dip my toes into the 1440p world and see how my GPU holds up. A GTX 980 with the games I play peg the needle at 60fps. Except skyrim with 4k textures and a very heavy ENB. With Anti-aliasing off (not even noticable unless you're actively looking for it) i get a solid 55 fps with dips down to 45. In the Bee and the Barb in Riften I drop to 15 fps, but there's something going on there that I haven't pinpointed yet.

Packaging - Came very well packaged. Styrofoam surrounded the montior and even a piece of soft foam to fill in the gap between the display and the box. Very nice touch!

Display - I'm coming form a Dell 2407WFPb monitor. I tried to get the Dell u3011 but the one I received was broken and had to be sent back. IPS is beautiful. I do miss the deeper blacks of my old VA panel, but this is still an upgrade. The colors are bright and crisp. I don't have a calibration unit so I've eyeballed it to my liking. I am sure there is room for improvement there. The Matte finish is perfect. I'm not a fan of glossy displays. Sure they look better, but i'm a gamer not a content creator. I'm not interested it seeing my ugly mug looking back at me during loading screens.

Ports and included cables - Came with all ports and cables you could need. DisplayPort, and a dual-link DVI cable. Even came with an audio cable in the rare event you may actually need/want to use the speakers on the display.

Menu - Easy enough to navigate. I only use 1 input, so I never need to change inputs. Everything is easy to understand and I feel there are enough options available to make all necessary changes to whatever you may need.

Cons: Stand - leaves a lot to be desired. It works. I've used monitors with this type of stand for years before, but they aren't really good and look pretty janky. Also there is no sort of cable management options with the stand. So your cables will just sort of have to hang there unless you engineer something with velcro or twist ties or whatever.
This monitor does have VESA mount capabilities, which works perfectly with the VESA adaptor plate I have for my dell monitor stand. Just upgrading the stand to an old Dell stand I had left over from work makes this montior look professional grade.

Buttons - They're buttons. They're not excellent, but they're not bad. They work, but after using the u3011 for a day I really liked the capacitive buttons it had.

Other Thoughts: Bezel - It's piano ultra gloss black. It looks nice until you touch it. then fingerprints stick. You don't notice it ina dark room as the panel is so bright, but when the lights are on or if the blinds are open and the sun is up, you'll notice it. Doesn't bother me, just something to point out.

I dig this monitor. If it goes on sale again for $250 i'd like to pick up another one for the office. Or maybe another 2, just because 1080p is so last decade.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother NewEgg "Deal"

Pros: Wow, a $300 2K monitor WITH speakers!

Cons: Yeah, too bad the speakers DON'T WORK! What a "great deal"

Other Thoughts: I love how many items I've purchased in the last month that either don't work, or come with terrible customer service (from the manufacturer, this isn't Newegg's fault)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent workhorse monitor

Pros: Great screen and color, great resolution for the size, good color/brightness and contrast out of the box

Cons: Can be TOO bright. Speakers are mediocre. Still a bit pricey considering 4k screens are available

Other Thoughts: I love this monitor. It's been my main monitor for over a year, and I've used it for everything from working on code to watching movies, to playing games. It's been great at everything. It has enough pixel real-estate for everything I need to do with it, and it's been worth every penny.

When I noticed it was on sale here at newegg, I jumped at the chance to get another one to use at the office.

4 out of 5 eggsMostly good news

Pros: Display resolution, brightness, color, etc. very good
No bad pixels or excessive light bleed (accepting that there will be some on inexpensive IPS panels)

Cons: Very light duty stand

Other Thoughts: Requires tomfoolery to work properly with MacOS X - for some reason, is recognized as a television rather than a monitor, which causes text to look grainy because it uses a crippled YCbCr color space instead of a full RGB color space. This can be fixed by forcing the Mac into RGB mode with an EDID override; search for mac rgb monitor override for instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for work!

Pros: Spacious display; good input selection; very light & thin; modern appearance.

Cons: None found yet.

Other Thoughts: I use this at work and it has been wonderful. A godsend for long sessions in Excel, and perfect for side-by-side windows such as Outlook and, say, a WEBEX teleconference call. Big productivity gains, even moving up from 24" 1920x1200 and 23" 2048x1182 LCDs. (I do not game and do professional graphics work, so I cannot comment those aspects. The color and such is fine for casual photo and graphics, in my opinion.)

Complaints about speakers built into monitors are just silly and unnecessary - nobody should expect good sound monitor speakers. They're purely utilitarian. The tilt-only stand is explained before purchase and nobody should be surprised by that. It helps keep the cost down, and more versatile stands are easily attached.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Monitor, very happy.

Pros: Very Bright (but adjustable)
Good Resolution
Good Colors
Lots of inputs
Has good refresh rate (No problems playing fast paced games.)

Cons: Had the power button not work once (second time i turned it on), a powercycle fixed it been working great ever since.

No other issues yet.

Other Thoughts: It's a great monitor and I'm really happy I bought it. works well for games and movies. Haven't tried any picture editing on it yet.

Got processed/delivered fast, as always newegg is great.

4 out of 5 eggsGood deal on 1440p monitor

Pros: Multiple input options. Price (got it for $300 - $50 rebate). Decent brightness & color. DisplayPort In & Out, for chaining displays. No dead pixels! No power brick.

Cons: Lack of monitor height adjustment. Limited menu controls. Speakers are useless. No HDMI cable included.

Other Thoughts: Got this to finally step up to 1440p. I use HDMI audio, and have a switch that splits out the audio. I had to upgrade that switch to one that handles 1440p inputs, adding to my overall cost.
The shipping package for this is pretty skimpy, so I wonder if all the folks with defective monitors have some rough handlers on their UPS/FedEx routes.
I've had numerous Acer products over the past 18 years and have been happy with all of them. They may not be the highest end products, but good enough for me and durable. Clean power and quality cables can make a big difference sometimes.

3 out of 5 eggsGood monitor, bad company

Pros: Lots of inputs (DVI, DP, HDMI), great image quality, reasonable bezel.

Cons: Minor nit: they are very slow to turn on. It takes a good 5 seconds for them to warm up, whereas the monitors I replaced took only 2 seconds.

Major complaint: I bought three, and one ended up with a horizontal line through the display within the first 24 hours. I got an RMA and sent it back. I only received one email from Acer that they had received the monitor and no other updates (like "we're fixing it", "we're shipping it"). The return shipping required an in-person signature and because I didn't know when it was coming back, I got the sticky notice on my door and had to drive down to Fedex to retrieve it. They also had my monitor for 3 days short of a month before I received the replacement. And they sent a replacement! If you're going to send a replacement, then send it out asap! Only keep it for a month if you're actually going to repair it. The old monitor was manufactured in March 2015, the new one in July 2015. The new one has a new badge on the bezel in the bottom left corner stating "IPS: In-plane switching".

Other Thoughts: It's a great monitor. But only buy it if you're okay with the possibility of having to send it back for a month for an RMA.

3 out of 5 eggsBacklight bleeding is a issue.

Pros: 2560x1440 is plenty sharp enough for most situations. I think it's the happy medium between 1080p and 4k monitors for gaming. The image is clean and crisp, with no dead pixels detected. At $300, it's a good deal. I would be hesitant to spend $500 on it, however.

Cons: Two words, backlight bleeding. This screen is horrible at displaying dark scenes because of the chaotic, asymmetrical backlight bleeding. All these LED screens have it, but it is really noticeable on this model. If you are into darker desktop themes, you might want to check for better options. I'm giving 3 eggs because it really is quite distracting.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to use a DVI-D cable, not a DVI-I cable. I swapped out a old 1080p monitor with this one, but retained the old DVI-I cable. This caused the resolution to be displayed incorrectly and fonts became unreadable. Using the DVI-D cable that came in the box fixed the issue. Easy mistake as the two connectors look almost identical.
