4 out of 5 eggsIMPORTANT NEWS ON K272HUL

Pros: Awesome picture quality....lived up to very good tech reviews....pixel density perfect for a 27" screen....will run at 60fps at full resolution no problem like 4K and LOOKS like 4K because of the awesome pixel density. Be aware to get the full resolution, you MUST be connected either using HDMI 1.4 or better,or, "display port", ( which can also be called "thunderbolt" using a mini-display port connector ). The other, older types of connection do NOT have the necessary bandwidth to provide the full resolution.

Cons: You MUST enter the settings on the monitor and TURN OFF the "video detect" setting,or, the screen will turn GRAYSCALE while in use !!! I was STUMPED...problem existed using HDMI 1.4 or Thunderbolt, ( i.e. "mini display port" ), connection and with current NVidia driver. I found the solution on a little known website and NOWHERE ELSE, including Acer...they should be NOTIFIED and buyers should be WARNED !!! Once "fixed", monitor is AWEWSOME and a great value.

Other Thoughts: I love this monitor....especially the pixel density being perfect for 27 inches....viewing 1440p video ,or, upscaled 1080p is amazing !!

I want to buy another and probably will !!

5 out of 5 eggsBetter Than I had Hoped!

Pros: -The color calibration out of the Box was almost perfect, I couldn't even tell the difference after calibration.
-Very sharp details, Low latency, Vibrant colors and viewing angles
-NO back light bleeding at all
-NO Dead pixels

Cons: - None so far,
-didn't come with an HDMI cable but it had everything else. Not a big deal since I have extras and will be using it over the DisplayPort cable anyway.

Other Thoughts: My AMD Radeon HD 6970m ran the monitor better than I had hoped. I personally didnt think I would.
I managed 36-60fps in Diablo 3 on high settings (AA on, but no shadows) and 25 FPS in Shadow of Mordor on Medium. (MSAA no blur)
I bought this for my dad to edit professional photos, with his GTX 970. I think he will be rather Pleased

1 out of 5 eggsonly meets resolution spec with DVI

Pros: With a dual-link DVI connection is looks nice. I got it on sale (from worstbuy, 350), so at the time the price was good.

Cons: display port and HDMI connections are limited to 1920 x 1080p at 50Hz and 1920 x 1080i at 60Hz. search acer support for K272HUL. I returned it for this reason alone.

Other Thoughts: I use macs - the pixelation that BennyVancouver saw is because the monitor will show the screen at 2560x1440, but looks bad, as if the cable was bad, in the old VGA days. To get display port, I could have gotten "Accell B087B-003J Mini DisplayPort to DVI Dual-Link Adapter" for about 140 - total solution cost of about 510. I got a "BenQ GW2765HT" instead. Currently 480 on newegg! faster, better, displayport works! HDMI input wasn't automatically detected, but on manual selection it connected, and was great.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer 1440p

Pros: AH-VA Panel is very nice and crisp, good color, good response times, good viewing angles, etc.

Settings menu is easy to navigate and works well, brightness can be turned down quite low, and vice-versa.

Cheap, I bought on sale for $300 during Christmas sales.

Arrived in good condition; no scratches, good packing, no dead pixels, no issues what so ever.

Cons: None so far with the monitor, I've had good luck with Acer products.

Windows 7 scaling took a little while to get use to, and I had to up my browser scaling a bit in order to read some things.

Windows 8 scaling is much better than Windows 7 imo.

However, these are not things that are wrong with the monitor. Just be warned that your software might take a little adjusting.

Other Thoughts: I really enjoyed upgrading to 1440p. AH-VA panels are very nice in regards to both response time and color reproduction / viewing angle.

Good for gaming, media consumption, work and whatever else most people would probably throw at a 1440p monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsNice monitor for the price

Pros: Easy to assemble and configure out of the box

It's not particularly well contructred but it's also no the abomination other reviews report below

Easily used display port to get upper resolution

Color reproduction was solid and looks more richer than my Samsung and asus monitors sitting next to it. Playing city skylines is a much more detailed and colorful experience

Cons: Bit of backlight bleed in lower two corners, again not a travesty for me but others have may want to take note this is not an a list quality product

If you are going to forego the default mount and use VESA DO NOT snap the default in, it's a devil to get back unsnapped

Other Thoughts: For the price it's a good value, color reproduction punches above its weight

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Price
Fast shipping

Cons: The stand is a bit wobbly, but if you don't move it or bump into it, you won't notice.

Speakers are a joke, just pretend this monitor doesn't have speakers. You won't want to use them.

Other Thoughts: No dead pixels, incredibly fast shipping, bleeding isn't bad, but is noticeable on a pure black screen. A comparable "name brand" monitor is in the $600-$800 range, making this a great deal. Very noticeable upgrade from my 1920x1080 22" monitor. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat QHD display; Displayport Windows 8.1 issue

Pros: Vibrant QHD display
2 HDMI outputs
Great price

Cons: Minor issue with Display port and Windows 8.1. Display port will not have a signal while connected to my GTX 970. HDMI is good enough for now though.

5 out of 5 eggsgood quality IPS

Pros: Sharp image, good contrast, good refresh rate, lots of screen real estate

Cons: not the best choice for gaming due to being an IPS panel and having blur issues. If you are buying for 100% gaming that has a lot of fast action like FPS games choose an LED screen but this screen is still pretty decent for gaming.

Other Thoughts: Other people have said they have problems with pixelation. I had this problem at first too because I was replacing a 1080p monitor and used my old DVI-D single link cable. It fits in the slot but will not work. Use a dual link cable.

4 out of 5 eggsworks with OSX with font smoothing

Pros: IPS Unit. Low cost. Value monitor.

Cons: Apple disables font smoothing by default for non-apple monitors.

Other Thoughts: echo ""
echo "Enabling subpixel font rendering on non-Apple LCDs"
defaults write NSGlobalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2

5 out of 5 eggs4k for 720p

Pros: This is an amazing monitor. You simply will not find a better price on high quality IPS panel, if you shop around. If you spend more all you will be getting are additional features. Stands, speakers, USB connections. As for it not being true 4k, I wouldn't worry about it. I honestly feel it's better this way. It's less drain on your video card and eyes.

Cons: As others have said the stand and speakers are cheap. This is a high quality featureless IPS panel.

Other Thoughts: I had never owned a high resolution IPS panel before, and bought this with a 780ti to push it. The first thing I noticed was how small everything becomes at this resolution. If you haven't considered this, and you don't have 18 year old eyes, I strongly suggest you look into it. This is an amazing monitor, but it's hard to push with a video card and it's hard on the eyes too. I love this monitor but the truth is, to some degree, higher resolutions are just hype and their are a lot of high end panels at lower resolutions, many people will be happier with. Do your homework.
