4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: -Beautiful picture
-Colors look amazing out of the box(to my untrained eye)
-Picked this up for tree tweny and that helps a ton!

Cons: -Backlight bleed (still not 100% gone even after adjusting)
-Coil whine here and there (randomly around 4 times in the past week or so that I have had it.)

Other Thoughts: I really want to give it 5 eggs, but the backlight bleed out of the box was the worst I have ever seen out of the 20 or so monitors I have owned in the past 10 years. Coil whine only worries me a little bit, as the warranty period is enough to keep me feeling somewhat safe.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor, Lousy Stand

Pros: Great Screen! When I plugged it in, the colors and text were way off due to my Mac using the wrong color space. But after applying the fix, everything looked great! The colors seem to be pretty accurate (haven't calibrated it yet), and the text is sharp. And just like most IPS-type screens, there is no color shift as you move your head up/down and side to side. I don't game much, so I can't speak to ghosting or any of that stuff.

Cons: My one major complaint about this monitor is the cheap-o stand. Every other IPS-type display I've seen has a stand that offers height adjustment (and probably rotation, although I don't care much about that one). The stand on this is fixed in place, and puts the monitor several inches lower than it needs to be. On a cheap display, who cares, but on a nice panel, you want it to be in the right position. Sure, you can prop it up on a couple reams of paper or a box, but I'm sure it wouldn't cost that much for Acer to give this a real stand.

I ended up buying an adjustable desk mount, and now I have it in the right position.

Also, I will say that the screen is a bit more reflective than I would have liked. I work in a building with a lot of windows and sunlight, and I can see the light reflecting off of the screen. It's definitely still matte, but it also reflects a bit more glare than my previous monitor. I can live with it, but be careful about how much direct sunlight hits the screen (you may want to reconfigure things).

Finally, I'm not a big fan of the glossy plastic casing. It's not horrendous, but it makes the monitor look somewhat unprofessional. I guess Acer had to cut a few corners, and I guess that I can live with anything that doesn't compromise display quality.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbeatable price @ 1440P

Pros: - Plenty of inputs.
- Perfect size for gaming.
- 1440P makes gaming stunning!
- Unbeatable price.
- Beautiful colors.
- No dead pixels.
- No light bleed
- Meets all of my expectations.

Cons: None, worth every penny!

Other Thoughts: If you're looking at 1440P gaming monitors and you're on a budget, this is what you should get. It won't disappoint you, I'll most likely buy 2 more in the near future.

4 out of 5 eggsMac compatibility issues

Pros: Nice display at a extra-nice price.

Cons: When I first plugged this into my Macbook Pro (via a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter), I could not believe how ugly it looked. Colors were washed out and fonts looked blurry. it looked nothing the 27" Dell monitor that I use at work with the same laptop. I came VERY close to returning this monitor.

It turns out there is an issue where OSX mistakes this monitor for a TV and uses the wrong color space (YCbCr instead of RGB). Apparently it is a pretty widespread issue, affecting external monitors from a number of different manufacturers.

The good news is that there is a workaround for the problem (google "Force RGB mode in mac"). Now that the issue is resolved, I am absolutely loving my monitor. I am taking off an egg for the trouble, though.

Other Thoughts: The fix for the compatibility issue involves running Ruby scripts and messing around with files in system folders, so it could be confusing to non-technical users. If you're looking for an external display for your Mac, and you're NOT comfortable using a command line, then I would suggest that you go with a different monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Monitor, Bad Audio

Pros: So far this is giving me a nice 1440p picture. I had to switch to the included DVI-D dual link cable from the old single link cable I was using previously to get a good picture. I was mostly looking for more screen real estate when I bought this, and that is what I got. Other monitors might have better specs, but this is a good monitor, especially for the price.

Cons: Speakers are quiet and have a terrible frequency response. I used the built-in speakers on my old Acer H233H primarily as I found they were good enough quality for most things I did, but these ones are quite terrible. The loudspeaker on my phone sounds better.

Other Thoughts: Mostly recommended for people just looking for a larger, higher-resolution monitor at a good price.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor, even better quality/price.

Pros: 1. Excellent image quality. No noticeable back light bleed, extreme viewing angles, no dead pixels (on mine), no dust inside a panel.
2. Wide range of inputs including DP out.

Cons: 1. Stand without vertical adjustment.
2. Glossy plastic is a dust magnet.
3. No VGA input on this model.

Other Thoughts: This is my second attempt at 27” 2560x1440 monitor. First was a Dell U2713H, almost 2x as expensive. Unfortunately it died in a month. Image quality is very comparable on both monitors which is impressive considering the price difference. Don’t forget to reduce the brightness which is set to a 100% by default, as comfortable levels are around 20-25%.
Few weird things I noticed with Acer:
1. Once monitor enters sleep mode because computer did the same and stopped video output it won’t wake up as video is resumed. I have to push a button instead. Probably a firmware bug.
2. Aspect based scaling is not working properly for some resolutions, e.g. it squashes 1920x1200 to 4:3.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice monitor

Pros: Beautiful 2560x1440 resolution. Large screen. Crisp picture. Very bright. No apparent light bleeding (you need special software to see it is not perfect).

Cons: The power consumption advertised by Acer (33W) is a "typical" value. I had to set brightness to 20% to get close to this. Normally, it uses >50W. Sound is bad as expected (had to set speakers to zero).
No ambient light sensor to control brightness.

Other Thoughts: The picture lag is noticeable, so this may not be the best gamer's monitor. Perfect for my work with static photographs. Good to watch movies as well.
I didn't like the stand it came with and buying the VESA mount now.
Had to make the size of the text larger in Windows to be able to read comfortly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat affordable 27" 1440 monitor

Pros: Affordable
27" 1440p

Cons: Speakers
Minor Light Bleed on right side

Other Thoughts: Wow. This monitor is a great deal for $330 ($350-$20 coupon). Immediately played BF4 on it and it looks amazing. Did a quick dead pixel test and all was good. I do have some minor light bleed on the right side of the screen, but it doesn't bother me. I ended up turning the brightness down a bit as it was pretty bright, so I don't even notice it anymore. This monitor is an amazing deal. I do warn you, the speakers are horrible. I mean bad, real bad. They sound like airplane headphone speakers set to loud. The speakers blow big time. Other than that, this is a great monitor for a great price. I use the monitor for school work and some gaming so I do not need the super low refresh rate and super high contrast, so this monitor suits my needs.

1 out of 5 eggsVery bad, AHVA panel sucks

Pros: Got it when on sale for $349.99. 1440P and BIG.

Cons: NOT IPS PANEL! acer is lie to me.
High chance get a light bleed and dead pixels.
First one I got 4 area with light bleed with 1 dead pixel on right side. RMA. after a week got my sec. one. look PERFECT. no light bleed, but found a dead pixels on left down conr. I do not might with one dead pixels, but problems is coming to me, after long time gaming with AHVA panel. It make you eye so hurt and tire like HELL. this is NOT IPS panel, thats why AHVA panel hurt your eye a lot. try to googel AHVA panel. nothing shows on google. I own a samesung LCD 27 inch and ASUS 24 LED never have my eye problems after gaming.
finally I give up. I RMA sec one too. for my refund. and bought a ASUS PB278Q for $489 . it cost more, BUT you get what you pay for. this ASUS PB278Q ROCKS. eye is not hurt and not tire. color is amazing. stand is OP. don't wasting your money on this ACER AHVA panel. it worst than the old LED monitor.

Other Thoughts: DON'T buy this, find something better.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty awesome

Pros: + Bright, crisp, beautiful display
+ Effective non-glare surface
+ Lots of inputs
+ Relatively inexpensive at $400
+ ShopRunner eligible (free 2-Day shipping and return)
+ Mercury-free (and hopefully long life) LED backlight
+ Does a good job at displaying various resolutions clearly

Cons: - Tinny sound from the built-in speakers
- OSD menus are awkward to navigate and not well-explained
- No remote control
- Cables attach from beneath, and it's nearly impossible to see the jacks
- Base doesn't swivel; if you try to turn the monitor by holding/turning the top, it feels like the connection between monitor and base might break pretty easily if forced

Other Thoughts: No dead/stuck pixels that I can see (yay) and only very minor backlight edge bleed: not even noticeable to me. I use it at 25% brightness as a computer monitor.

Beautifully crisp display, and I was able to get the full 2560x1440 resolution over HDMI 1.4 by defining a new resolution for the Intel 4000 HD graphics driver (had to specify 55p Hz and Reduced Blanking timing).

Because of the monitor's weight there is a lot of traction between the base and the glass surface it's sitting on (my desk). So I have to lift the entire monitor to turn (swivel) it without stressing the joints between the monitor and base.

With ShopRunner I was able to get free 2-day delivery on this to Hawaii (saved about $60), and not a lot of NewEgg's monitors are ShopRunner-eligible.
