which connection do i use HDMI  OR DP?

If you have a DP on your graphics card use it, that's the only way it will work 60hz in 4k. It comes with dp and hdmi cables. dp doesn't carry sound, but come with audio cable if you want to use built in speakers. Speakers not so great.

Question 2

Can the monitor adjust all the way to the bottom of the stand?  We are trying to find a large monitor that essentially sits as close as possible to the desk top.

Yes. You can lower the monitor to sit flush on the base. The base is about 1/2 inch thick. Bottom of the monitor will be 1/2 inch from the table.

How do I get my ps4 pro to work in 4k on this monitor? The HDMI only supports 1080

Make sure you are using a HDMI 2.0 or higher cable. Keep in mine the latest PS4 Pro Patch no longer supports 4k gaming on HDMI 1.4 or lower cables or displays. Hope this helps.

Should there have been a mini-DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cable in the box? The user's guide seemed to indicate that there should have been one.

I contacted the Acer customer service but they basically said "not our problem" and that I should feel free to return the monitor to Newegg if I didn't  like it!

It has been a bit longer than a year since I bought mine. But a mini-displayport cable was not included. It did include the others - displayport, vga, hdmi, & dvi.

I have Macbook Air i7, 8GB, Intel HD 4000. Does this 4K monitor supports it?

Depends upon the Mac specs. But I believe that the HD4000 can do it (certainly the HD4600 can). Google "Using 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with Mac computers" and follow the link to Apple Support.

But remember that a 28" monitor has only 8% more physical display area than a 27" monitor, which is negligible. But increasing the resolution from 2560x1440 pixels to 3840x2160 pixels jumps the pixel count by 225%. If you use native resolution on the 4K monitor, everything that was just fine on 27" 2560x1440 will be 225% SMALLER - basically unusable. Adjust for both changer in physical size and resolution, you will have to scale by 1.44 to maintain constant physical size of items (like text) on the 28" 4K screen. If you jump to 32" physically then the scale factor drops to 1.26 due to the 32" monitor having 40% more surface area than 27". But note you still can't use a 32" in full 4k mode without suffering the text getting smaller if you don't scale it up.

I am sending this monitor back for two reasons. First the gain in effective resolution after adjusting the constant physical size is of course limited to the piddly additional 8% surface area. Not really worth it, nor do I want smaller text at a lower scale factor. Secondly this is a TN panel. It is washed out compared to an IPX/AHVA panel popular in the 27" models. That makes smaller text even harder to read. I won't jump to 4k until I can afford at least a 32" IPS monitor. Newegg had an an Acer 32" version on sale for $699 which is hyper aggressive but still sadly out of my price league.

Does the fact that this monitor does not have thunderbolt technology limit it's ability to display HD video coming from a MacPro with thunderbolt?

No it does support all Macs with Thunderbolt 1/2 (aka Mini DisplayPort interface).

Thunderbolt port is physically the same as Mini DisplayPort. This LED display  Acer B6 Series B286HK has a DisplayPort, which can use a adapter (DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort) to connect to an Mac (that's what I've had setup). The beauty of that is that MDP => DP adapter requires no signal conversion, which introduces no degradation and requires no power for the adapter.

Does the mini displayport on this monitor support 4k?

Yes, it does. I connected a Lenovo ThinkPad L440 laptop to the monitor with a mini-DisplayPort cable and was able to use it at the full 3840x2160 resolution at 60Hz. Similarly, I also connected a late 2013 13-inch MacBook Pro with a mini-DisplayPort cable and was also able to get the full 3840x2160 resolution, but only at 30Hz. Bottom line: mini-DisplayPort will indeed get you 4K resolution on this monitor.

Will my GTX 960 SSC work well with this monitor?  (As of this question this monitor is 44% off... making it cheaper than some 2k monitors.)

This monitor would be a great upgrade. You can run it at Other resolutions including 1080p. Yes it would work but you may need to run more demanding games at a lower resolution. I have had this monitor used with a 980 and had to run games like the Division at lower settings. Running 4K at 60fps is still hard with the current setup of 2 980sli so I  have to turn down some of the settings. I am still very happy with my purchase and feel that it will provide use for years to come.

How is the color accuracy on this monitor?  Does anyone who uses this mainly for photo/design recommend this monitor?

I would say for color accuracy its pretty good. I mostly use it for gaming but when I edit photos it looks good to and I don't really notice anything out of place. Its more of a flat color type though, where a lot of laptops have a gloss finish that gives a lot of color saturation this one does not.
