Anyone who has ever used one knows how handy a modern video projector can be, whether for presentations, TV viewing, or even gaming. And you all know that to get a decent screen size, you have to have a lot of room between your projector and your screen.

BenQ designed a projector that cuts that distance (or "throw") in half. You can get a large 27.5" display at only twenty inches away from the screen; 55" at a mere 3.3 feet. Now you can make your presentations without getting blinded by your own projector, or casting a shadow on the screen every time you move.

Highly versatile on inputs, it can accept analog RGB, HDMI, composite video, component video, and S-video. It has D-sub, HDMI, S-video, composite and component connectors to facilitate operations quickly and without needing a handful of adapters. I've run out of room, so check out all the features for yourself. I think you'll like what you see.

5 out of 5 eggsLove the BenQ Projector

Pros: Bright, and easy to set up. Looked around for a projector and you can't beat the price. This short throw Projector works great with my PS3, Laptop and Sling box. I love to watch Sports in this projector. Very light and can take it anywhere.

Cons: Not a HD product athough it has an HDMI input. It still looks great!

Other Thoughts: Recently opened up a restaurant and is planning to purchase 2 more of these projectors for the place.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Projector

Pros: Really works well for the Wii , And even xbox 360 at standard def. I also used it to watch some old home movies at a family get together. My son uses it while hosting his gaming parties.

Cons: Wish it was a tad bit brighter and colors seem a little washed out but for 550 bucks you really can't expect much.
It isn't a plasma TV !!!!!

Other Thoughts: Cant beat it for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing projector!

Pros: Great DVD quality picture. I have mine on a coffee table about 5 feet from the screen and have a 64" picture. Very quiet and has lots of picture adjustments. Has HDMI , s video and rca inputs.

Cons: It's 800 x 600 so you won't get the full hd effect. However it does take hd input (by way of HDMI) then scales it down to 800x600. The built in speakers are acceptable but not great (they can easily be turned off).

Other Thoughts: For the price it can't be beat. Projecting a huge screen from such a short distance is amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsYou won't want to put it away!!

Pros: The first thing you'll notice when you get this projector up and running, is just how much of a short throw distance this has. The first few times you use it you will probably overestimate the amount of distance needed to be able to fill your wall or screen, since the throw distance is so much different than other projectors. The short throw distance makes this ideal to use with the Wii, throw it on a table or a chair near a wall, plug in the Wii, the Wii remote sensor sits nicely on the back of the projector, and you got an instant 70" image that you won't even cast a shadow on. The colors look amazing even with the lights on and on off white walls. 720p video signals, while they cannot be truly displayed at an HD resolution, still look amazing, with better than DVD detail.

Cons: Like all low resolution projectors, the "Screen door" effect is very noticeable since you will get a large image at such a small distance. This is something to expect from all low resolution projectors, however, it was a lot more noticeable than I expected. If you don't have or can't use a HDMI cable the mini audio jack is the only other audio connectivity option. The volume settings are not convenantly placed anywhere on the remote nor on the projector, in some cases where a movie or video will get louder, you will have to pull up the on screen menu in the middle of the movie to lower it. The volume has 8 levels which leaves you with very little room to get the volume just the way you want it.
These cons are just things to look out for though, they should not deter you from buying this projector, unless easy volume acess is something you need badly.

Other Thoughts: I usually entertain several people on a regular basis, the short throw allows us to move about the room without casting shadows on the screen. The large screen size allows us to sit wherever we want in the room and assures that we will all be able to see. For light gaming and SD television viewing, this projector is phenomenal. After your friends and family have used this projector it will leave them breathless and wanting their own. This is a great multipurpose projector, for someone who's always on the go and want a big screen experience, at a very affordable price.

5 out of 5 eggsSmall & Fun Projector

Pros: The short throw and price of this projector are its selling points. At 6' from a wall I am getting an 8' image. Try getting a 96" TV of any type at this price point! I am using it for business and HTPC purposes.

Cons: 800x600 resolution isn't really high def, and large projections viewed close up show pixels accordingly. And while having high def would help, this phenomenon is largely a function of how close you sit to a screen vs. how big the screen is. Smaller projections will show less pixelization at close viewing - regardless of the projectors resolution.

Other Thoughts: I recommend you match a projector with the quality of the rest of your home audio system. If you have $10,000 invested in your system already, by all means, match it with a real home theater projector. If you've got a simple box store surround audio system, you'll love this projector. For business, the short throw and compact size will be something to love. I thought I was going to use my white photography backdrops for this projector, but honestly, the contrast and whites are good enough that I usually just shine it on a (clean) white wall and have a darn good time!

4 out of 5 eggsWay too short throw

Pros: Bright, High quality picture, very nice projector, lots of configuration options.

Cons: The picture from a distance of 20 feet created a picture on my wall that was way too big. No option for adjusting the picture size.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product.

Pros: This is a superb product. I use it with an ASUS EEE 901 for showing robust PowerPoint presentations and it works beautifully. Had no problem setting it up. My first projection was on a brown wall - the whites were beautiful and the blacks were.. well, black. Superbly black. Great picture.

Cons: Would be nice to have a carrying case but that would be definitely asking for the moon at this price. And a $100 rebate? I was surprised to see it included cables at this price, but it does.

Other Thoughts: First projector, simple setup. Great price point. Can't lose. Of course I had to connect it to my gaming system, Battlefield 2 never looked so good;

5 out of 5 eggsBenq MP512ST Projector

Pros: Excellent, sharp picture quality. Easy to setup, easy to use. Cost to benefit ratio is well worth the low price. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have recommended this product to friends and family. While at a big box store last weekend, I recommended this projector to a stranger who was looking at a 72" flat screen tv and he saved himself $1,500 at least.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice SD Projector

Pros: Very happy with everything pretty much. Can't say enough good things about it. Any cons are merely NITPICKING.

Cons: The speaker is not very good. It's just good enough to get by and the volume control doesn't go low enough for me. I would have liked it if the height adjustment was in the back as well. I need to tilt the back of the projector up an inch, but the front of the projector has the only height adjustment. I would have traded the S-video input for a component input.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Thing!

Pros: Good brightness
Compact Size
Short-Throw

Cons: Have to move projector away from wall for image to get smaller or bigger...

Other Thoughts: Great little projector for the price! It will take in 1080p threw the HDMI cable, but will downscale it to 800X600. It still really really good for the price... Only downside is you have to move the projector away from the wall for it to get bigger, theres only a focus on the top.

If you move it away 1 foot, you get about a 3-4 foot increase in size!
For the price, i definatly recommend.
