5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This is the best monitor I have ever used. I replaced my home and office monitor with this product. The nearly perfect black level makes images look so much better. I have watched several movies with this thing and the picture is so much better than my old monitor.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: After experiencing the color quality of this monitor I am definitely going to purchase a plasma TV for home. I just love the refresh rate and black level display.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: The setup was easy and it went quickly. It was plug and play and then adjusting, fine tuning and it was done and ready to go.Ive only had it a little over a week but is working good with no problems.Glad I bought it.

Cons: The manual. Not much I can say because they didnt say much either. There really isnt a lot to setting up a moniter but looking at it from a newbie standpoint it might be a little confusing.Look at what came in the box for a minute or two then plug in those 2 things and power it up.Benq leads you through adjusting it pretty clear when you have it running. The power cord was a little short so I found a longer one for my setup so that was solved. Not everybody needs a power cord as long as I did.

Other Thoughts: As soon as my credit card was approved there was knock at my door and there was my monitor.Ok not quite that fast but I ordered it on monday and it showed up the next day,tuesday.Whew.And with no damage at all. Thanks again newegg for a good product.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!

Pros: Good contrast, nice colours

Cons: Viewing angles are not 178 degrees no matter how you cut it. No DVI cable?

Other Thoughts: Other reviews have mentioned that the out of the box settings were bad, but I find them pretty good.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor!

Pros: -Anti-glare screen works great
-Colors are really good!
-Power LED isn't obnoxious
-Nice Size
-Pixel Density is pretty good
-Unless your stomping around you computer. stand is pretty sturdy.
-Price was completely fair.

Cons: YES, the settings its shipped with are horrid, It literally hurt my eyes as I adjusted it. However, I would like everyone to realize, SETTINGS CAN BE CHANGED!

-Bezel is annoying. Not only is it pretty big, but it is glossy and reflects ts the screen a little
-Settings Menu is a little hard to navigate
-no HDMI or Display port. Not that big of a deal, but annoying

Other Thoughts: All in all a great monitor. Price point was exactly where it should be for the monitor.

I use it for gaming, it handles everything very nicely. Bioshock Infinite looked stunning on it.

I have never experienced any Ghosting or other turn offs.

I only knocked off an egg for how poorly the settings were at shipping and the bezel (which doesn't really bother me unless I am paying attention to it)

Brightness: 21
Contrast: 60

I found it helped me to use someone else's settings (which can be found somewhere in the reviews) as a template, and adjust it to my liking.

The Final Verdict:
Great monitor for price range, I am extremely happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great monitor on a slight budget. I found it great for gaming and daily use, I hope you will too.

5 out of 5 eggsBenQ 24" Monitor

Pros: Size is perfect.

Cons: No HDMI connection.

Other Thoughts: I was unsure of the manufacturer but I bought it and I love it. It only had a VGA cable with it, no DVI. But I use it for my laptop which only has VGA anyway. So no issue for me. Was bright with factory settings. Turn down brightness and it is great.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, once tweaked.

Pros: Pretty big screen, low price, I got it on special. Image quality is nice once optimized. Native resolution is easy on the eyes when reading small fonts, unlike my 19" Asus that this replaced.

Cons: Bad factory settings. Out of the box I thought, wow, maybe I don't like this monitor. But then I spent a few days tweaking it, now I think it's impressive enough.

Other Thoughts: Here are my magic final settings for optimum image quality in my somewhat dim room. Brightness--33, Contrast--57, Sharpness--1, Gamma--1, Color Temperature--Reddish. I also had to mess with Windows ClearType a lot to get fonts to appear pleasant and legible. I did a gamma tweak in Windows settings also. Take some time with this and this monitor is perfectly adequate. Video and still images can look stunning on this fairly large screen. It's big, but not "too big."

5 out of 5 eggscouldn't be happier

Pros: Just received this monitor earlier this week. Paid 120. Was a littler nervous at first after reading the reviews and people saying the colors were faded, ghosting etc. I hooked it up with a dvi cable (not provided with monitor) and it looks great. Upgraded from 1440x900 and it looks great!

Great price, looks slick, no complaints worthy of noting.

Cons: No dvi cable, no screen tilt, neither of which bother me so these "cons" are meaningless.

Other Thoughts: I would buy two more... If I had the cash lol money talks!

5 out of 5 eggsNo more TN for me!

Pros: No PWM.
True 8-bit panel as opposed to budget IPS panels using 6bit+FRC.
No noticeable ghosting.
Matte coating on the screen.
Luckily no dead pixels.
Power light indicator out of the way.

Cons: No DVI cable.
No HDMI output.
Screen too bright out of the box.
Color profiles available online may no longer be applicable.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned above, the models currently shipping as of week11, 2014 no longer uses PWM. I have tested it out with a camera phone and there is no flickering at <25 brightness. I have no issues with flickering, but those who have trouble with it should most certainly consider buying this monitor.

If you look up the panels used by some budget IPS monitors, you will notice that quite a number of them aren't true 8-bit panels. Not really an issue for most people, but hey if you want a non-TN monitor then may as well go all-in and grab a true 8-bit panel.

I don't understand why Benq pretty much made a new monitor, but still refuse to ship it with a DVI cable. You should be prepared ahead of time and make sure you have a DVI cable if you plan on purchasing this monitor. VGA won't cut it. Don't forget to turn down the brightness as soon as you turn it on!

Also, this monitor should really be called GW2450-1 as it is fundamentally different from the earlier model. The backlight technology is different (DC as opposed to PWM) and an altogether new panel is being used (with a native contrast of 3000:1 AMVA+ as opposed to 5000:1 AMVA). The color profile available online is for the earlier model of the GW2450 and it may not work as effectively on this model.

Either way, I'm happy with my purchase and glad to have made the move from TN to VA. If you're looking for a budget non-TN monitor, you'd be hard pressed to find a better value for your money. Unless of course you need a display with HDMI...
