2 out of 5 eggsGood while it worked

Pros: Good overall picture quality
Excellent contrast
Plenty of brightness for some ambient light
Quiet in ECO mode
2 HDMI inputs
1080P in this price range

Cons: Rainbow effect pretty strong for those who are sensitive. (possible 3x speed color wheel)

Died after 5 days, white and black vertical lines on all sources and menus.

Screen goes blank for a few seconds every time I change to another Directv channel with a different resolution than the last one.

Other Thoughts: Sent back for replacement. Hopefully this one lasts. It does stink to have a replacement only return policy on projectors, especially when you have to pay to ship it back. Might not buy something like this from Newegg in the future with that policy.

1 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected...not even close!

Pros: Seemed to be highly rated projector from others on both Newegg and the internet.

Cons: Really, really bad resolution when watching HD via Sat (Dishnetwork) using HDMI. Faces were blotchy, looked terrible. I tried settings on both sat and projector. HD on my LCD and plasma tv's look exceptional from the same source.

Other Thoughts: I have a home theater and have had previousl projectors. While I like a decent quality projector, I don't beleive you need to spend thousands on a projector to get decent qualaity. There is no way I was getting 1080p out of this projector. Test Pattern on projector would clean up nice with settings, but would not save although the projector indicated it was saved. Test patttern would return fuzzy again each time it was re-opened. Also contrast and sharpness would adjust but the level indicators would not move....really weird. I worked with both Benq and Newegg and tried a second unit, same model, same problems. I have now moved up to a more expensive Benq. I hope things work out with the new one once int comes in.

5 out of 5 eggs1080p Goodness at a price that can't be beaten...

Pros: -1080P. Coming from a 720p Sony Bravia projector, the 1080p resolution adds so much detail and smoothness to the fonts and picture.
-Comes in a nice cover bag. Can be useful if travelling or visiting friends.
-Built in Speakers. Will probably never use it but good to have as a back up, if ever using it outside my home theater setup.

Cons: -Bad out of Box color settings
-Could not detect my HTPC, PS3 or Apple TV over a 50 foot hdmi cable. My previous projector worked with the same cable with no issues. Was even thinking of returning it for that reason. But found out that you can increase the HDMI gain from the settings and that solved the issue with the same cable.
- I found the backlit remote to be too bright.

5 out of 5 eggsBENQ EP5920

Pros: Ease of use ,Outstanding picture quality. Low cooling time. Long lamp life. One of the longest in industry. Did I say picture is outdstanding. Also Optoma HD 20 got a better review only because it does not get rainbows. With benq you will if you zoom but thats it. Also optoma lamp life is low. So the trade off is well worth it between the two. I am very please with my purchase

Cons: If you Zoom you will get rainbow effect. Only Con. But Zooming does distort the picture so make sure you have a nice size living room a least 12 ft with this projector.

4 out of 5 eggsNice pic, but no Directv DVR

Pros: Has a beautiful image on both Blu-ray and Xbox 360. Easy to set up.

Cons: Doesn't want to recognize my directv receiver that is hooked up via HDMI. I have tried switching wiries between the two and that is not the problem. Just can't figure this one out.

Other Thoughts: Any help on getting this thing to recognize my Directv receiver would be much appreciated. And, I have tried all the basics. Switching out wires, shutting things down then up again. Changing HDMI ports. It will read the Blu-ray, just not the directv receiver on the second or first hdmi inputs. Any in input would be great before I send it back.

5 out of 5 eggsBest resolution & quality at this price

Pros: Bright enough with light ON in room. It is easy to adjust and has plenty connections. Mounted in basement ceiling, 15 ft away to project over 100" 16x9 screen, bright and sharp even with small text, HDTV and movie looks great, XBOX 360 plays well, no motion lags. Like the auto timing turn off with warning. Very pleased with purchase.

Cons: only the machine shape and color can be better. It is not important to me, since it is installed in basement ceiling.

3 out of 5 eggsDarn rainbows

Pros: This is a relatively inexpensive 1080p projector that I'd give a B- grade.

There are a ton of connections. The projector is very quiet. It fills a 100" screen very well. Manual zoom & focus work well together with keystoning to get a perfectly sized image.

There are a ton of options to tweak the image.

Cons: The contrast ratio isn't best and the image is a bit dark. 'Bright' mode washes out the image. Increasing contrast causing discoloration of skin tones. Etc. Coming from a Panasonic plasma 50" probably has spoiled me.

On 1080p sources I see the dreaded rainbow effect. On 1080i or 720p it's not a problem but obviously the picture isn't nearly as good as 1080p.

Not everyone is susceptible to rainbows, but unfortunately they give me headaches.

Other Thoughts: If I had to do it again I'd spend another $500-$700 on a DLP with better color wheel, contrast, and brightness.

For this price though it's a tough deal to beat if you have a light controlled environment.

I was aware of all the shortcomings before purchasing.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great picture, easy set up

Cons: none yet - Just a FYI not a knock on the projector. Make sure you mount the projector the correct distance from your screen so you get full coverage without having to zoom. I do notice a rainbow effect in zoom.

Other Thoughts: I have a theater room in my house and after reading hundreds of reviews I decided that the BenQ EP5920 was the best 1080p projector for the money. I was expecting good quality but what I got amazed me. I have a 46" 1080p Samsung LED in my livingroom and I can't see any drop in picture quality from that to my theater. I have this projector on a 110" Elitescreen and couldn't be happier.
